We are KaspiaSMP, a story based world full of magic, gods, and normal people trying to get by.

There's Percy, a candle brought to life. Quartz, a Archivist with a bit of a past. Avi, a hybrid who'd do anything to protect their friends. Peri, a scientist who may be a bit older than he looks.

And there are many lovable characters on our server for you to enjoy!

Kaspia has been around for just over a year, and we adore the community we've created, and we've decided to continue that cultivation by spreading out to Tumblr!

Not only that, but we actually have applications open! We would love to have new members and new stories on our server. We are very friendly, open to anybody who want's to join! It's a vanilla Minecraft server on 1.19.1 Java! We do warn you that this server is only for ages 16 and up! That is our only restriction.

SERIOUS WARNING if you PLAY MINECRAFT

If you have not heard already, 1.19.1 has been released and with that comes the feature nobody wanted: CHAT REPORTING. At first glance this seems great but Mojang's way of doing it is terrible. If someone chat reports you to Mojang, you can be BANNED from ALL OF MUTLIPLAYER, not just a server. Most Minecraft servers already have their own chat moderation and this feature bypasses those features. This reporting feature also infringes the rights of private server owners as this bypasses their own rights to run their servers how they want. And to top it off, this system is HIGHLY EXPLOITABLE meaning someone can potentially spam reports to Mojang to get someone innocent banned. The time is now to stand up against Mojang and tell them we don't want this.

just a heads up to my followers: do not join a server running version 1.19.1 or later.

mojang is adding a chat moderation ‘feature’ to java edition which can get you permanently banned from all multiplayer servers based on player reports, EVEN on private servers. anyone can file a report for theoretically any reason, so false reports will be abundant.

they claim these are moderated by humans, which is doubtful given the volume of reports they’ll no doubt receive.

they claim this will work perfectly, when the existing feature on bedrock not only frequently bans people based on false reports but is also able to ban you from SINGLEPLAYER on some systems.

long story short, stick with the old version, give mojang some flak for not listening to their community.

ew, just learned about the scummy chat moderation that microsoft is implementing in the minecraft 1.19.1 update?? like?? potentially getting your account permanently banned from multiplayer servers entirely if a player reports you in chat?? awful.

some of the reasons for reporting someone are so vague too and it's very easy to see how that could be abused. the fact that microsoft said that they're cool with banning innocent people as well (as "false positives") just makes it even grosser imo

i know the feature has been in the bedrock version for years, but i guess a lot of java players were hoping that they wouldn't have to put up with that crap. unfortunately with the forced migration to a microsoft account, we all had to agree to their terms (which are different than mojang's terms) so it's well within microsoft's right to do this sort of thing.

just super scummy imo. especially considering that java has always been the version where people could play however they want without moderation, depending on the type of server.

anyway, so far it seems like the option can be disabled in server settings, but still. i'm hoping that before the update officially rolls out, they get enough backlash that they might reconsider the whole concept entirely.

So here's my theory on the 1.19.1 thing:

the community responds by modding the chat reporting feature out of the game (they already have)

Mojang responds by cracking down on modding

Java edition takes a hit in popularity as a result

Java edition is eventually discontinued for not making enough money (because it was intentionally sabotaged)

everyone is forced to play Bedrock and use the Mojang-controlled Minecraft Marketplace for all their modding etc. and minecraft becomes yet another pay-to-do-anything game of endless microtransactions

Somewhere in there is the second recession of the minecraft youtube community, because no way in hell are a lot of these people moving from Java to Bedock voluntarily.

ok guys time for me to bully minecraft. The new update 1.19.1 was a mistake on microsofts part. minecraft has broken the trust I and millions of other players have had in it. It was a mistake when added into Bedrock and from what I’ve seen it’s even worse in Java. The chat reporting is incompetent and bans you for profanity even in severs where profanity is allowed/expected or even in private servers. I was banned from my personally run server for telling a friend to “fuck off”. Basic profanity can get you banned. Leave the banning to the individual servers. Banning players for swearing on their private servers is idiotic. Banning players from their own servers that they pay for/maintain is idiotic. Not to mention how easy it is to false report and ban people including large figures. minecrafts own staff stated that “Nothing would change” when we moved into Microsoft-Based accounts. We see now that that was a blatant lie. hell they can even bedrock for kids. Java has always and always should be a place where people can share ideas and speech freely. For years Minecraft was used as a tool to boost free speech and the spread of information, now it is a hallow shell of that. I have seen people banned for use of the word “Night” and many other stupid examples of how broken this update is. I and hundreds of others will no longer be supporting this game. Minecraft has broken our trust and given up the game to sanitized corporatism in giving it to Microsoft. #NotMyMinecraft
