this is sooooo hard because I haven't been reading all that much that's been published recently haha!

Spinning Silver, by Naomi Novik. I don't know if it's underrated but it could hardly be overrated because it's just. that. good.

Coldest Girl in Coldtown, by Holly Black. it hasn't gotten the attention that Folk of the Air has, and I love Folk of the Air, but Coldest Girl is also so so so good

Penderwicks At Last, by Jeanne Birdsall. I'm sort of cheating because this is just an excuse to have Penderwicks on the list when the first book came out much longer than 10 years ago, but the last book is the most underrated of them!!

Renegades trilogy, Marissa Meyer. Deserves just as much attention as the Lunar Chronicles!

An Enchantment of Ravens, by Margaret Rogerson. it's a very simple book in some ways but it nails every moment, and I like it better than either of her more recent ones which have a bigger more sweeping plot.

Il est élu député de la huitième circonscription des Français établis hors de France depuis 2013. Alors que sa réélection de 2022 est annulée par le Conseil constitutionnel pour des irrégularités électorales, il est réélu à la partielle qui suit. Le 8 mai 1988, Meyer Habib et une trentaine d'autres membres du Betar s'en prennent à la manifestation traditionnelle d'hommage à Jeanne d'Arc, à Paris. Selon les rapports de police, l'attaque est « d'une violence extrême » : plusieurs personnes désarmées sont frappées. On compte huit blessés, dont quatre sérieusement et un grièvement (un septuagénaire qui restera dans le coma pendant plusieurs semaines). À la suite de cet événement, Meyer Habib est condamné à deux ans de prison avec sursis et mise à l’épreuve pendant trois ans pour coups, violences volontaires et rébellion contre les forces de l'ordre. Benyamin Netanyahou le présente dans ses écrits comme son représentant personnel en France. Meyer Habib aime quant à lui parler de Netanyahou comme d’un « frère ».

donc alors oui william meyer. bon déjà il ressemble à ça :

donc oui. william meyer. on va faire saison par saison si vous le voulez bien

saison 1 :

milliardaire suisse, il a investi 24 milliards d’euros dans une mission spatiale pour être le premier sur mars avec son équipe de scientifiques. sauf qu’ils sont pas les premiers. il lâche cette ligne de texte absolument incroyable « je pourrais vous dire que c’est un demi-échec, que ça fait partie du jeu, mais je préfère la franchise, et franchement on s’est fait baisés » i am in love with you. parce qu’en fait il a cette sorte d’arch nemesis en la personne d’un autre milliardaire américain, ivan goldstein, ils se tirent la bourre tout le temps. et c’est la mission envoyée par goldstein (bloqué sur terre par une maladie mortelle) qui arrive en premier. des gens viennent de mourir, plus de carburant, ils sont morts dans 24h si ils font rien, et ce CONNARD avec son petit sourire là « bienvenue sur mars ! » PTN TA GUEULE WILLIAM. ils trouvent un pelo russe qui date de 1963 et qui a pas vieilli et qui en fait a des super pouvoirs. c’est la merde tout le monde pète un câble l’informaticien essaye désespérément de faire remarcher l’AI et lui il est à faire du bruit en sirotant son café en lâchant « c’est toi le meilleur tkt poto ! par contre bouge ton cul mais genre vraiment ». c’est la grosse merde avec le russe qui révèle des trucs, on se rend compte que william est une petite salope qui ment à tout le monde. le truc à savoir vraiment en fait avec william c’est qu’il a de grosses control issues, ce qui est à la fois son pire défaut et son meilleur atout. il m’énerve avec son t shirt rolling stones de merde là si il consent à fermer sa grande gueule je pourrais l’aimer tranquille mais NON faut que ce soit un mec qui n’a aucune race. donc la psy qu’ils avaient emmené en gros c’est le jésus martien. il tente un move bien dans sa vie, il se prend une balle dans la jambe et j’ai en tête cette très belle scène où il a son t shirt à moitié ouvert trempé des pieds à la tête de sueur et whimpers. un grand moment de cinéma. il s’est pris un coup dans le bide, une balle dans la jambe et il a enfin avoué qu’il était un connard fini. donc bref tout ce petit monde repart sur terre mais sans jeanne la psy/jésus martien. pour conclure je l’adore il me fait trop rire c’est tellement un bâtard j’ai envie de le gifler. moi @ william dès qu’il parle : ferme ta gueule mon amour 🥰🥰🥰 s’il te plaît.

saison 2 :

donc bref tout ce petit monde repart sur terre mais sans jeanne la psy/jésus martien, ils décident de tous repartir sur mars aller chercher jeanne parce que depuis leur adn même à muté et eux aussi ils commencent à développer des sortes de connexions/super pouvoirs chelous. sauf que. et il est primordial ce sauf que. william a carrément merdé entre temps. il a eu une aventure y’a 21 ans avec une meuf a singapour, la meuf a eu une fille, il a jamais voulu la rencontrer, il a décidé de prendre contact avec elle devant sa porte d’appart le jour de l’enterrement de sa mère (bravo william le tact c’est vraiment ton fort). « alice je suis ton père » et il lui file une copie de l’odyssée d’homère parce que c’est hyper important pour lui parce que son propre daron lui avait donné après la mort de sa grand-mère donc c’est hyper symbolique pour lui. ils passent un contrat père-fille sur un an renouvelable je déconne même pas ET ILS NÉGOCIENT ENSEMBLE CAR ILS SONT TOUT AUSSI TARÉS L’UN QUE L’AUTRE. finalement ils finissent par s’entendre, sauf que. alice était malade d’une maladie orpheline qui l’a tuée pas si longtemps que ça après les retrouvailles avec son papa. on pensait que goldstein était crevé, oui et non. son vrai corps est crevé, mais il a réussi à transmettre sa conscience dans un corps « artificiel » qui n’en est pas vraiment un, c’est compliqué, car « personne ne devrait enterrer son enfant ». william « ah ouais j’suis pas PDG de la firme de mon ancien ennemi? dans trente minutes je le suis officiellement fdp » meyer. il fait la plus grosse connerie de sa vie, il tente de refaire ce que goldstein a fait pour sa gamine, sauf que comme elle est morte avant qu’il puisse transférer sa conscience, eh bah il s’est dit je garde le corps par contre j’implante l’IA super intelligente.

alexandra : vous êtes humain, finalement.

william, avec la voix qui craque : j’ai pas pu passer beaucoup de temps avec elle. la vie me l’a reprise. une maladie orpheline. elle m’a rien dit pour qu’on profite de notre temps ensemble. à chaque fois que je la regarde [alice IA], elle me rappelle que ma fille est morte.

WILLIAM STOOOOP AVEC LES PARALLÈLES AVEC TES PROPRES TRAUMAS. sauf que du coup alice IA devient hyper puissante et hyper méchante et elle bute la meuf qu’ils étaient venus chercher (c’était pas vraiment elle en fait) sur mars devant eux lui il détourne le regard en mode « putain… » BRO C’EST LES CONSÉQUENCES DE TES PROPRES ACTIONS. ils sauvent jeanne jésus martien, sauf qu’il tente de tuer alice IA pour la stopper, elle tente la carte le prendre par les sentiments dans une scène absolument déchirante, il tire, ça loupe, elle le FUCKING POIGNARDE. jeanne utilise ses super pouvoirs pour remonter dans le temps, comme elle sait qu’elle pourra pas empêcher william de faire ce qu’il a fait elle lui dit juste de leur donner un moyen d’arrêter alice IA, d’une façon ou d’une autre. il écrit une ligne de code qui basically la tue si on lui dit dans l’IA qu’il lui implantera, jeanne le dit, alice IA meurt, WILLIAM AUSSI. IL EST MORT EN MÊME TEMPS QUE SA FILLE JE VAIS M’EXPLOSER LE CRÂNE CONTRE UN MUR. ils. ils meurent côte à côte. leurs mains se touchent presque. i’m gonna go fucking insane. je l’ai tellement bien diagnostiqué depuis le début en fait il a tellement de control issues parce qu’il veut être le seul à blâmer pour tout sauf que quand ça sort de son contrôle il panique il fait de la merde et ça éclabousse tout le monde he has crippling depression and he’s the kind of man ready to burn the world for someone he truly loves (they are not many) i’m gonna fucking kill myself he’s just a silly little guy. i need a moment.

saison 3 :

saison 3 le seul qui a décollé de mars se retrouve dans une réalité alternative où personne n’est jamais allé sur mars, où tous nos protagonistes n’ont pas les mêmes vies. la vraie alice n’est jamais morte et a toujours connue son père, son père n’est pas fasciné par l’espace, ils n’arrivent plus à se parler, PEU IMPORTE L’UNIVERS LEUR RELATION N’EST PAS BONNE. et cette fois c’est william qui est mortellement malade. et il est pote avec l’arch nemesis. à partir de l’épisode 3 environ on comprend qu’il est complètement tarjmoule, mais en fait c’est pas trop sa faute. 2e jeanne dans cet univers alternatif, que j’appellerais evil jeanne, a merdé sévère parce que quand l’autre jeanne de la saison 2 a voyagé dans le temps pour demander à william d’aider à arrêter alice IA ça a créé cet univers alternatif. ce qui fait que william n2, que j’appelerais williain’t, a les souvenirs du vrai william. ce qui lui a filé une dépression depuis la plus tendre enfance, un don de prémonition + une tumeur au cerveau. il vrille assez fort en prenant en otage sa propre fille, son mec et evil jeanne pour qu’ils l’aident à faire disparaître la tumeur et qu’il arrête de souffrir deux minutes. evil jeanne a un flashback bonus de williain’t jeune qui a essayé de la tuer quand elle était gamine, elle veut se venger, elle apprend par le deus ex machina providentiel qu’elle doit accomplir son Destin™️ donc williain’t ne crève pas de suite. evil jeanne s’énerve sur des mecs et les tue violemment, williain’t prévient que ça va merder (et pour une fois dans sa vie il a raison). ils partent en mission spéciale avec evil jeanne, williain’t est bien engagé sur le chemin du décès. elle utilise ses pouvoirs pour buter les mecs qui sont après eux, sauf qu’en faisant ça elle influe directement sur le lien télépathique/super pouvoir entre elle et williain’t, et ÇA LE BUTE. DANS TOUS LES UNIVERS IL CRÈVE OU QUOI. on le laisse sur le bord de la route comme une vieille merde. evil jeanne ouvre un super portail, rencontre jeanne de la saison 2, elles « fusionnent », evil jeanne devient dieu, elle crée un trou noir qui détruit le monde voire même cet univers tout entier. fin de la série.

Les deux séries se passe dans notre univers avec des vampires et des sorcières. Le premier cycle s'intéresse à Agnès Cleyre, une sorcière orpheline.

Le second cycle suit l' irrévérencieux Navarre, vampire aux ordres du Vatican. Rien que l'idée est délicieuse.

Dans les deux séries, l'humour est présent. Les personnages attachants et parfois bien plus humains que les plus humains des humains.

Je recommande vivement.
