Duel in the Courtyard

Yue had been sitting in a guest room in the Fire Nation's palace, preparing for fight with Iroh. Truth be told, she was nervous. Sure she was a great waterbender and Kyoshi warrior but maybe not great enough to face General Iroh. After speaking to some of the servants, the girl had managed to find out some facts of him. He was as skilled as his grandfather, Fire Lord Zuko, with as much power and ferocity. How could  she compete with that?

Soon it was time. Standing, the girl tied her long brown hair back then adjusted a few things of her outfit. With one last deep breath she walked to the courtyard where the  duel was to take place. Seeing Iroh waiting for her, she tensed. This was it. Quickly she bowed.

She had been working for him for a few weeks now. She enjoyed living in Shu Jing and her children enjoyed it too. But over the past few weeks working under Iroh had been an adventure. He always seemed to look down on her like a servant to a master but now as she knocked on his office door to serve him his mourning tea she was greeted with a smile and not look of distrust.

Golden eyes scanned everything around her. She stood still on the ship's deck, her hands in her sleeves and watching the crew work their way on unloading their objects and the like to the decks of Republic City.

Finally, something to do. Something exciting-- she silently hoped. For what it seemed like an eternity, she had nothing to do but lay around, practice, and do political jobs and meetings back in the Fire Nation. All of them, boring work. But now, oh, but now, the raven-haired young woman can do something interesting; fight off Equalists that she had heard during one of her meetings. She volunteered to go along. It would make a change to just stay in one place, after all.

Mai leeped out of the said deck, not even bothering to use the small bridge, and landed gracefully on the floor, ignoring several remarks coming from her crew.

"Where is the General?" asked the girl monotonously to a Fire Nation guard, who she assumed had spent the last few days here. At the corner of her eye, she could see a few smoke out in the buildings far from where they are. It seems like they haven't attacked the decks yet. Good.
