Enchanted Moments: Jake and Neytiri's Forest Rendezvous

Neytiri was sitting atop the high peaks of the mountains, savoring the night view and the tranquility. She smiled as she felt the gentle breeze passing through her braided hair and took a slow breath.

"Enjoying your time?" she heard a voice behind her, of course she recognized that voice.

"I was just enjoying the solitude," Neytiri said, turning around to look at Jake. "Ah, then allow me to join you." Jake slowly sat down beside Neytiri. "You look beautiful, as always," he said, running his hand through her hair. They felt they had found the peace and happiness they deserved after a long time.

Neytiri leaned her head on Jake's shoulder. "You too.." she replied, her voice tinged with a strange shyness she felt. It was as if she had never mated with this man beside her.

"Feeling a bit better, aren't you, sweetheart?" he asked softly, running his fingers gently through her hair and stroking her cheek. "I still have nightmares sometimes, but I'm better..," she turned her head to look at him, looking into each other's golden eyes with pure love. "I'm better because of you, ma Jake."

Jake smiled softly, bringing his face closer to hers. "I'll always try to make you feel better, sweetheart..," he whispered to her lips. "I'll always try to make you happy.."

Neytiri felt her cheeks blush and her heart beat rapidly. Feeling that their love was still fresh was reassuring for them. She slowly lifted her hand, stroked his cheek, and pressed her forehead against his. "We'll always be here for each other."

Jake gently held her and pulled her closer to him, their faces so close that their noses touched. "Just remember that I'll always be by your side," he murmured, his lips brushing against hers. A light breeze enveloped the two lovers, as if the sounds of nature wanted to accompany them.

Before Neytiri could respond, Jake slowly pressed his lips against hers. The kiss was initially tender and soft, but then it began to deepen, their tongues dancing with each other. They moaned softly as they tasted each other.

"I love you so much..," Jake whispered as they kissed. He wrapped his strong arms around her delicate body and held her tightly. "You're everything to me.."

When the kiss broke, both of them were breathless. Neytiri looked at Jake's foolishly smiling face. She took his face in her hands and planted a sweet kiss on his cheek. "And know that I'll always be by your side, I'll never leave you," she whispered, looking into his deep eyes.

Jake's smile widened, he leaned forward and planted a kiss on her nose. "You know I'll protect you from everything, right? I'll protect you from whatever comes to mind." He held Neytiri tightly and pressed her to his body. "You're mine.." he moaned, pressing his face against her neck.

A faint moan escaped Neytiri's lips. "I'll always be yours, ma Jake," she murmured, rubbing her chin against his hair.

"Of course, you'll always be mine." Jake lifted his head, gently stroking her lips with his thumb. "I love you so much that it drives me crazy."

Neytiri grinned, showing her teeth. "I'm sure you can handle it," she said with a big grin on her face. Jake kissed her forehead and sighed. "We should probably go now."

Neytiri wasn't really planning on leaving, but she couldn't find the strength to argue. As they both stood up, Jake caught Neytiri around the waist and pulled her towards him, grinning broadly at her surprised face.

"Oh? Did you really think I could be satisfied with you so easily?" he leaned in for a second kiss, their lips meeting again. Jake's hands went down to Neytiri's waist, squeezing her thighs. "You're so beautiful that just looking at you drives me crazy," he whispered to her lips.

Neytiri moaned softly as if she wanted to show how much she enjoyed these moments. Jake lowered his lips to her chin, then to her neck, planting small kisses as he squeezed her waist with his hands.

"Ma Jake.." Neytiri whispered, her heart beating faster as she felt his warm breath on her neck. "Relax, baby.. you're in safe hands," Jake murmured, rubbing his lips against her collarbone. "You're so beautiful.. so soft.." he buried his nose in her neck and took a deep breath. "You smell so good."

Neytiri made cute noises with the intense feelings she felt, wrapping her hands around Jake's neck. Jake looked up at her. "My beautiful Na'vi princess wants more, doesn't she?" he said softly, licking her lips. "I can never get enough of you. I may get used to the beauty of Pandora, but I can never get used to your beauty." He grabbed her chin with his thick hands and brought her face closer. "Your beauty enchants me every time."

Jake rubbed his lips against Neytiri's forehead. "Ma Jake.." she whispered, planting a small kiss on his chin.

"My baby.. my beautiful baby.." he whispered, holding her hands and kissing her palms, then her wrists, forearms, and arms. "I love you so much.." he said, planting sweet little kisses on her shoulder. "I love you so much that I'd do anything for you."

Jake kissed her under the chin, took her face in his hands. "And I will, you'll see," he murmured, pressing his forehead against hers.

Neytiri closed her eyes and took a deep breath, her body warmed up, and she couldn't control the rhythms of her heart. "I love you too.. more than anything," she whispered, slowly rubbing her cheek against his. Jake closed his eyes, just enjoying the touch of their skins.

This a concept im exploring for a new Neteyam x reader series I’m working on called ‘Virago.’

A story about a warrior!reader X neteyam who’s been raised with a ‘I don’t need anyone but myself’ mindset.

The story follows the path of Neteyam and the reader finding sanctuary within eachother and the reader trusting neteyam to protect her even from battles that aren’t his to fight.

I love the idea of projecting some of Jake and Neytiri’s live story elements into Neteyam x Reader works.

As I’m writing this, something came to me that I think should be shared 🤷🏽‍♀️

Before anyone comes for me, I just wanna say I love Jeytiri with a passion.

Don’t get me wrong. Jake and neytiri raised this fandom. The og’s fr. I’m telling my kids and my grandkids about them. They are my favorite love story.

A man who leaves his entire planet for the woman he loves?

Ugh. We all need a Jake.

…BUT

What if In the next avatar movie Neytiri can’t find herself to forgive Jake?

Not to the point where it forms a void between them to a point of resentment, but in a general sense of starting to loose some trust in him?

The RDA returning is in no way, shape or form Jake’s fault, and neither is Neteyam’s death.

But Neytiri entrusted Jake and held him to his promises when he vowed to protect their children, and a good 70% of that movie were the kids being kidnapped, bullied, kidnapped, threatened, tied up, abducted, and just generally traumatized because of someone from Jake’s past life.

Jake sully is a character who is haunted by his own shadow.

According to the visual dictionary,

“Jake is tempered by his concerns for his family and the guilt he feels for the lives he lost all those years ago.”

Truly a tragic character in his own rite.

He can never seem to escape this shadow of who he used to be.

Quite literally being hunted down by a former enemy.

But let’s discuss Neytiri for a moment.

A woman of the forest, fierce and beautiful. Loyal to her people and her culture.

She will never truly understand every aspect of the repercussions of Jake’s actions.

Why? Because Jake has embraced the motto of ‘the family protector’

Which is a positive feat, of course.

And that he does. Jake proves himself to be a good father and protective of his children 100%.

But Neytiri looks at this side of Jake’s past life through a window.

Not a mirror.

A window of

‘Oh. The sky people are gone. My family is safe’.

And then colonel Scarface 2.0 comes back to fuck her shit up.

Jake is a good father. May that fact not be lost on us as audience.

I wish sometimes we could see into the tortured mind of Neytiri.

But we can’t. So let’s review some facts.

Where does Jake come from? Earth.

Who did he work for? The RDA.

What does the RDA do? Mine resources and fuck shit up.

Neytiri’s father, sister, ikran, son, a good portion of the fellow na’vi who were apart of the omaticaya in the first movie? Dead.

What do these things have in common?

All their lives were taken by the RDA and the humans.

I’m not usually one to quote myself, but for those of you who have read my fic ‘diaphanous’

“Trust is a fragile thing. And most protect fragile things.”

Modern au: how would the sully kids throw a house party? Would they get in trouble? How much fun would they have and who's idea would it be?

Ohhhh ho ho I have been thinking about this one. So this will be in keeping with my lovely wheelchair! Jake modern au world.

-So I think Spider and Neteyam are both in their senior year of high school. Spider got held back in elementary school because he was having some learning issues related to his childhood trauma and attachment issues.

-Jake Sully wakes up one fine morning on his wedding anniversary and impulsively decides that because he and Neytiri eloped the first time they should have an elaborate vow renewal ceremony with all of their family and friends this time. He's hiding away in the office with Kiri and Tuk making them help design a beautiful card with this information for Neytiri, having already sent Lo'ak and Spider to the store for flowers while Neteyam researches venues in the other room.

-So when she hears about this, Sylwanin decides they also need to have a bachelor and bachelorette party. At first she thought that she would just have a bachelorette party, but Tsu'tey helpfully reminded her that Neytiri and Jake have all the same friends and Jake has no family besides Tommy (and Norm). Sylwanin bitches about this for the rest of the evening before calling up Tommy and Norm and roping them into planning the most perfect jeytiri party ever. It involves a hike during the day so Jake can use his all terrain wheelchair and then ends with a camping trip full of alcohol and all of their friends.

-ALL THIS TO SAY; Jake and Neytiri will both be gone for an entire weekend for the first time ever. Jake is a stay at home veteran father, he is always lurking in every corner of the house waiting for you to do something wrong so he can tease you about it. Neytiri does travel for her nonprofit sometimes, but Jake is always there. And even if they went out on a date night, Mo'at or Tsu'tey or Sylwanin or Norm or Tommy or anyone else on the tight knit reserve would be around to babysit. But now, everyone they know is going on the bachelor/bachelorette trip. They won't be far, just on a different place on the reserve, but they won't be at the house all weekend.

-Lo'ak decides that Neteyam and Spider both need to have attended one high school party before college or they will never survive. So he decides they have to throw one. Kiri is in from jump, this is a hilarious idea and there is probably a low chance it gets blamed on her. Also she would never say this but she lives for all of Lo'ak's bad ideas. Spider is an easy sell, he spent so much time when he was little being too nervous to do anything wrong in case he might get sent away that he's easily sold on rebellion now. Lo'ak knows how to push the right buttons. Neteyam took a little more work, but eventually caved. Tuk is the real issue. What do they do with a ten year old during a party with strangers and drinking?

-They pay Tuk like, twenty dollars each to promise to keep her mouth shut and they all promise to owe her one favor as well. Tuk agrees to go to bed and stay in her room. Spoiler; she does not stay in her room at all.

-Some of the Sully kids have fun at the party, some do not. Spider and Kiri discover that they can really tear up the dance floor when buzzed, and they have a blast with Rotxo. They have both been practicing that choreographed dance routine from The Perks of Being a Wallflower for years, apparently for this moment, and Rotxo was the perfect Charlie.

-Lo'ak plans to spend the entire time with Tsireya and instead finds himself chasing Tuk around the house trying to get her to go back to her room. He doesn't drink at all, but Tsireya does help him and she has a fantastic time. Lo'ak Did Not have fun at the time but does remember it fondly, because it's all a blur of Tuk's giggling and Tsireya smiling.

-Neteyam has a weirdly fun time too. In my experience, when you are drinking the first few times you are like "whoa I'm drunk" when you are like, vaguely tipsy in reality. And then later when you actually do get drunk you're like "WOW I WAS NOT DRUNK BEFORE AT ALL." I think this was Neteyam's vibe. He had one Mike's Hard and then he was like "wow I'm drunk this is great!" but in reality he had a great buzz going and he was electric. He talked to everyone there, high fived Tuk when she hid from Lo'ak in the cabinets behind him, ate like four of Tsireya's cupcakes, dipped Spider because Kiri wasn't strong enough to hold him, and made out with Ao'nung in the bathroom a couple times. It was the best night ever.

-Tuk, of course, had a blast. Ruining Lo'ak's night is perhaps the best gift of all.

-I think Jake and Neytiri totally know what happened, but they are saving that knowledge for a rainy day. Also it's kind of adorable how the siblings are all partners in crime, and it makes then both think of their own siblings who just threw them such a nice party. They are both softies at heart.

let's start off by saying that Neytiri and Jake are only friends, best friends, but is all platonic. They see eachother as the sibling they each lost. (I swear i love Jeytiri)

ALSO GRACE LIVES and she happily pregnant with baby Kiri.

one day when Neytiri is helping Grace take some heavy things to the labs, she is met with a human.

she's on guard at first because the human is a soldier, and apart from Jake she never met a good human soldier.

but Grace calms her telling Neytiri that out of all humans soldiers on Pandora, she was the only one to remain on the planet, ofc apart from Jake, but he really doesn't count.

and that the first time they met, they met again a few days later when Grace asks Neytiri to go with reader in the forest to find somethings she needed.

so Neytiri and reader spent a whole day toghter, and became friends.

one day during a party at new hometree, Reader is really drunk, and finds herself flirting with some humans.

Neytiri who watches by far grows jealous, and as soon as a human put a hand on reader's frame,

she's there hissing at them and taking reader away.

they are now in the forest fighting.

Neytiri says she's too drunk to have sex with someone, and reader says she's is not (true)

so Neytiri is like "oh really?" and after a few moments of religious silence, they start to make out.

i bet you know what this is leading to.

what you don't know, and they neither when they start doing it, is that the ground where they are doing it is sacred.

Neytiri only realises that the morning after, and she's like "shit im mated, AND TO A HUMAN TOO!"

so now she has to live with a mate, in a clan that HATES humans with all their hearts (the war was like 5-7 months ago?) and she also needs to teach her mate the ways.

like a Jake all over it (he finds it really funny, and makes fun of her as soon as he knows)

not even her mother is really happy about this. (she will come around)

if this is not to much or to stressful thank you.

The Skewed Dynamic Between Jake Sully and Neytiri Tskaha.

I've seen a few people within the fandom also pointing out this decision of Jake moving his family out of the clan which should've been seen as odd and irresponsible, and to a certain extent, individualistic behavior which I assume would be out of place in a Na'vi society.

Did nobody in the Omatikaya clan oppose to this? Not even Mo'at? Sure his family is now being targeted by Quaritch and there's Jake not wanting to attract the enemy to wipe out the clan and their allies but then due to poor hindsight, Jake brought trouble over to the Metkayina as well (calling Norm & Max over is completely unnecessary when Ronal can heal Kiri just fine). It took him suffering a devastating loss of his first son to realize that running away is not the solution.

Like…sure man. You could've just listened to Neytiri in the first place. 🤦🏻‍♀️

And don't get me wrong, I ADORE Jaytiri/Jeytiri and the good moments with their kids, but it's Jake that needs to get his shit together and rely even less on his patriarchal tendencies.

Wow, I had a very different interpretation of Neytiri and Jake's interactions in this movie.

I thought she was 100% correct in saying, "You cannot ask this". He should have respected not only her feelings, but responsibilities to the [Forest] People and back down from that plan. He might have asked about her thoughts and feelings [on the matter], but he never treated her as an equal partner with equal input.

Instead he acted like a child in a "but I really REALLY want this more than you" way. It's total arrogance that he thought he knew how to care for his family better away from the safety of their home and people. The [Forest] People live in a warrior society. They could've had help from their own people [so] why was Jake the only one making decisions?

I understand needing a plot change for the movie but if we're focusing on relationships, Neytiri was completely bulldozed by Jake throughout this entire movie and the repercussions of his decisions led to his child getting killed.

He should have relied on her [intuition] and opinions more and made decisions together. She was trying to show him love and trust by going along with all of these crazy bad decisions she clearly didn't agree with, but HE WAS WRONG and that was never addressed in the movie, and I'm surprised that never got recognized here.

Others have also pointed out (and as a Force Recon marine Jake should have understood this) that the western policy for [….] centuries isn't to leave enemy leadership of unconventional combatant groups alone. The military keeps on hunting them.

Displace to a new position maybe, but few chances he'd actually quell the threat by running and Neytiri understood this and what it meant.

And like, yes this is Jake's character arc, he is a flawed character, and in of itself that's fine - but it centers his agency and the consequences to his choices and denies other characters the same.

Under the Stars With You

Jake and Neytiri had just finishing kissing all their kids goodnight, wishing that they slept as soundly as they could.

“You tired, baby?” Jake asked his wife in a hushed tone.

She shook her head in response. “Let’s go for a walk on the beach,” he said while taking her hand and motioning his head towards the entrance of their home. That sounded amazing to Neytiri, she longed for some time alone with her husband. But she was hesitant… turning back to look at her children. There was a part of her that didn’t want to leave them alone in a strange new place, regardless if she knew they were safe.

“It’s okay mom, we’ll be fine.” They both turned towards Neteyam’s bed, surprised to see that he was still awake.

“If Tuk wakes up, I’ll put her back to bed,” he whispered.

Neytiri walked over to his hammock and caressed his cheek. “I thought you were sleeping my love.”

He smiled up at her. “Not yet, but I’m getting there. You guys go ahead and relax, you deserve it.”

“My darling son, how did you become so sweet?” she beamed in adoration and he blushed.

Jake walked over and placed a hand on Neteyam’s head. “I know we can count on you, Teyam. If you need anything at all, just call for me. We wont be too long.”

“Got it. Goodnight, guys.”

“Goodnight, we love you!” Neytiri cried.

“Love you too!” He replied before pulling his blanket up.

Jake and Neytiri walked hand in hand out of the marui and towards the beach illuminated by the moonlight.

Jake spoke first. “Can you believe how beautiful it is here?”

Neytiri gave him an annoyed look, and stayed silent.

“What?”

“You just don’t want me to be upset about being here.”

“Okay, you got me.”

“It is very beautiful,” she admitted after a moment of silence and Jake smiled. They entered the shallow ocean and watched as the water lit up of bioluminescence with each step they took.

“How’ve you been, sweetheart?”

“I’ve been okay, but it’s difficult if I am being honest. I am a good swimmer back home, but this is something new.”

“Ahh my wife is used to being the best at everything she does.”

Neytiri laughed at this and Jake was happy to see her smiling.

“I am just glad the kids are adjusting here. I was really worried for them. They already have a difficult time back home feeling like they do not belong.”

Jake took a moment to think and then spoke. He suddenly felt sorry and grateful and appreciative all at once.

“Neytiri.”

“Hm?” she said while looking down and kicking the water with her feet.

“Thank you.”

She looked up at him now. “For what, my beloved?”

“For always having faith in me, and for trusting me to take care of us. I know you did not agree with me.”

She sighed deeply and then spoke. “Yes, running is not who I am. It is not the Na’vi way. We stand and fight, face our problems.”

“But you allowed us to move anyway.”

“Yes, as much as I am loyal to my beliefs and my people… I was so scared to lose them Jake.” She stopped walking now and he followed, locking eyes with her while she continued. “Sometimes change is okay, necessary even. But the real reason I decided to come here is because I could not say for sure that they would be safe at home. I thought to myself, ‘what if he is right about this?’ And I could not bring myself to take the chance not knowing.”

“Neytiri, I promise I will do everything in my power to protect this family.”

“I know you will. But you won’t have to do it alone, we will face everything together.”

“I love you.”

“I know,” she replied with a playful smile.

“More than you know,” he said seriously.

“And I love you.”

Jake grabbed her by the waist and pulled her in close, bringing a hand up to her cheek. He let his thumb graze the supple skin of her lower lip and she leaned in before he had the chance to do it himself. She brushed the tip of her nose against his, and stopped just short of his lips. All they could hear was the crashing of the waves on the shore and the sound of their breathing in sync. He couldn’t take it anymore, so he closed the gab between their mouths with urgency. Their lips intertwined with a softness, soon turning into hunger.

Her hand reached up to grab the hair at the nape of his neck, sending tingles all down his spine. His hands left her waist and cupped her ass, squeezing with just enough strength to please her. But careful not to leave a mark that would last long. They had made that mistake too many times in the past. She teased his tongue with the tip of hers and he took her lower lip between his teeth, causing her to let out a low moan that drove him crazy.

His hands slid down to grip her thighs next, lifting her onto him. She instinctively wrapped her legs around his waist and their bodies pressed tightly together, heat radiating off of them. Without breaking the kiss, Jake walked up the beach so they were further from the shore. One hand gripped her back and the other held her thigh so she wouldn’t slip. Gently bending down to his knees, he laid her on her back and rested his body between her legs.

Once he finally broke the kiss, her eyes took a second longer to flutter open. He could see how much she wanted him and it pained him to stop. “Keep going,” she whispered into his mouth.

“Baby if I keep going, I don’t think I’ll be able to stop tonight. But just say the word and I’ll give you whatever you want.”

She placed another gentle kiss on his lips, exasperated by the exchange. “No, you’re right, we told Neteyam we wouldn’t be long.”

“You sure?” He asked while peppering light kisses from her jawline down to her collarbone.

“You make it so hard to say no to you. But yes, let’s just stay here for a bit longer and look at the stars before we head back.”

“Okay, my love.”

They settled more comfortably on the sand, and Neytiri laid her head on Jake’s chest. She could feel his heart beating slightly faster than usual. “My marine, are you nervous?”

“You drive me crazy. My heart still skips a beat around you.”

“Skxawng. Charm is your best skill.”

Jake chuckled in response, always amused when she called him that. It reminded him of when they were younger.

“Speaking of the kids, have you seen Lo’ak and Tsireya these days?” He asked.

“Who has not seen them would be the better question. I think it’s cute, I don’t think Lo’ak was interested in anyone back home.”

“This kid…of all the girls, he had to go for the chief’s daughter. They already hesitated accepting us, and I’m not prepared for the conversation about those two.”

“Hmm our youngest son reminds me of a certain someone who also thought he could have the daughter of Olo’eyktan.”

“Yeah and if I’m remembering correctly, that daughter wanted to have me as well.” A smirk came across Neytiri’s face.

Jake turned to her. “Tell me something.”

“Hm?”

“When did you first feel that you were falling in love with me?”

“Ma Jake, how many times have you asked me this question?”

“I just love hearing the answer.”

“I fell in love with you in the sky. Well, that’s when I think I was sure about it. When we were flying ikran together, I felt bonded with you in a way I’ve never felt with anyone. You were so fearless and free and fun. Even you failed time and time again. I didn’t need the spirits to tell me your heart was strong and pure. And when you smiled, I loved your…” Neytiri struggled to remember the word in English. So she placed her index finger on Jake’s cheek and waited for him to realize what she meant.

“Dimples.” He said with a smile, finishing the sentence for her.

“Dimples. You have the most pretty dimples,” she continued. “Okay, now you must tell me.”

“I was taken by you the very first time I saw you. I thought you were incredible… strong and confident and beautiful. And after that, I always wanted speak to you. Everyday I woke up and longed for when I would see you again. And I knew that when I earned my place among the people, that I wanted to be yours forever. You showed me what love is. I was just hoping and praying that I could be worthy of you.”

A tear rolled down Neytiri’s cheek. She didn’t even realize she was crying. Jake wiped the tear from her face. “Our family is together and we are safe, and we’ll always be together.”

All she could do was smile at him and nod, more tears flowing. Jake placed a kiss on each of her eyelids. “Why’re you crying, my love?”

“I’m just happy.”

Neytiri was unsure what the future would bring for her family. But she was certain of this very moment and the love they felt for each other.

Hiii just want to add that although I don’t personally agree with Jake’s decision to relocate his family, I feel like it’s realistic that he had a conversation similar to this one with Neytiri. Like thanking her for trusting him and agreeing to go despite her differing opinions. I think their relationship has compromise, trust, and faith.

Also important to note that neither of them can predict the future, and the characters have flaws and make mistakes. One of Jake’s flaws is his dedication to his human ways despite how long he has been Na’vi. Sometimes it aids him and helps the People, and sometimes it hinders him. It is my hope that Jake will begin to value Neytiti more as a decision maker and realizes that he is not always right about what’s best.

I do have a few ideas planned for them and some things i won't spoil for the sake of enjoying the moment when it's revealed.

-

Jake and Neytiri won't be immediately jumping back together after the war. There are a lot of personal conflicting feelings involved and with the sky people are being left behind with Jake (like canon) which strings uncertainty, especially with Spider in the mix. Plus, it's been a few days, and there's still a lot of emotional processing that no one's done well and not in the right emotional mind to do so.

I...won't have the two get sick on the basis of their separation. Tbh that's my least favourite trope in this bc it can lead to unhealthy and toxic behaviours and worse if it's a fault on one partner and not the other; why should the innocent one suffer a forced rebond for the sake of wellness and still be miserable as fuck.

The spoiler's I'll give is... there will be regret for sure on Neytiri's side for making that call so swiftly (even when it is justified given Jake's actions)

Jake's been living a double life for 3 months and he's now living in his avatar; he needed to discover who he should be and separation, regardless of length, would be necessary for him to figure out his path. A more honest life too. He'll have his regrets but they'll be different from Neytiri's.

Plus, you know i think there has been a Canon character, Nefika, who separated from her mate at the time shortly after she gave birth to their daughter, so it's certainly possible. He mated with another woman and had a son.

Me fucking too. And just because you asked, why don't we move the draft I've been working on right over here for you. I'm assuming you mean my modern au wheelchair Jake jeytiri shit, so that's what this is:

Quick recap from the Tommy post:

-Tommy was on a four year job with Grace studying botany in the rainforest in Brazil when Jake was paralyzed. Jake knew how excited he was about this once in a lifetime experience, and basically threatened to end Norm if he tattled to Tommy.

-Norm's solution was getting Jake into Mo'at's free clinic on a favor. He'd volunteered there a lot while he was getting his medical degree and ended up liking it so much he works there when he's got a free moment between research and projects. So he has a tiny bit of leeway to beg for a spot for Jake from Mo'at and Sylwanin.

-Jake is not the normal clientele for the free clinic. They are on the edge of the reservation, and mostly only cater to the native population and those nearby. Sylwanin tells Norm this, but Mo'at is pretty sure this'll work out. She can just tell that for some reason they need Jake just as much as he needs them.

-When Jake first shows up, Neytiri has last minute replaced Sylwanin for the month because she had to fill in for a doctor who had to go on emergency leave a few counties over. Jake will later insist this was divine intervention, whereas at the time Neytiri was fairly sure she was being punished.

-Neytiri is eighteen and freshly graduated from high school, and completely sure she does NOT want to work in the free clinic for the rest of her life. She isn't exactly sure what she will do, but it'll be something big and life changing.

-Jake is twenty-two and his life is over. He went from being a promising young marine one second, to being a burden on everyone around him the next. And now even this girl at the clinic is forced to deal with him when she wasn't supposed to.

-They start of very slow, with halfhearted attempts at weightlifting that Jake's heart is clearly not in very much. Neytiri starts to get a little more invested. She insists that he needs more wheelchair dexterity training, and stands on the back of his chair and makes Jake cart her around to all her other patients for a week. At first it was a joke but it quickly becomes a floor is lava type situation, where if she touches the ground she looses. She takes them swimming in the pond, forces Tsu'tey to help her create a wheelchair obstacle course and then makes he and Neytiri take turns racing Jake through it, takes him to an archery range for the arm strength.

-They start to get more and more ridiculous as she becomes pretty sure what Jake needs is to realize he can still do everything he wants. They go skydiving, play paintball, and go on a hike when Norm manages to rig a chair with wheels that go outdoors better.

-O b v i o u s l y one of the most important tests/exercises they do regularly is just like, making sure his dick works. Just to check. Gotta be sure.

-When Sylwanin comes back and asks her mother where Neytiri is so she can say hi, Mo'at rolls her eyes. Sylwanin is then almost run over by the classic daily Neytiri and Jake wheelchair race, who both then start demanding Mo'at declare them the winner. Mo'at picks Jake because she loves bothering Neytiri (and her soft spot for Jake is as well hidden as the sun) and Neytiri once again blames his experience and they bicker as she jumps on Jake's lap for a ride to her next patient.

-Sylwanin: ...wha-

Mo'at: shhhhh. Let it happen.

-The not so secret reason that Jake was at the clinic was less for his recovery and more for the literal depression he clearly had. It was Norm's "I will not rat you out to Tommy" condition. Jake considers himself all cured of that shit now, Norm, but everyone else isn't so sure. They all have come to love (and be super annoyed by) Jake and Neytiri together, but it's important Jake is able to be not depressed without Neytiri there.

-Jake: psh, why do I need to be happy without Neytiri?

Norm: because it's normal and healthy, Jake.

Jake: okay but what you are asking for is literally impossible.

-They give him a week. A week at home, NO NEYTIRI. The week does pass, and it actually goes well for Jake. He takes some independent trips in his brand new Norm finagled (bc the real ones are crazy expensive) Jake drivable truck, he works out on his own, reconnects with his old friend Trudy from the marines. He feels competent. He can't help but feel like he owes that confidence to Neytiri.

-Neytiri is noticeably sulking around the clinic, to the point that Sylwanin almost ALMOST calls Jake for her. It's insane. They're known each other for like three months at this point. Sylwanin has known her fiance her entire life, and she loves Tsu'tey, but sometimes he drives her crazy. They survived her month away, and she has work trips often.

-When Jake pulls back up to the clinic on his own in his own truck, they have the most dramatic reunion ever. It's like something out of a romcom. The regulars HAVE to applaud.

-It's to almost no ones surprise that when Jake announces his intention to head out traveling, Neytiri announces she'll be going with him. They spend the summer sending pictures from Niagara Falls, The Great Canyon, Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, the black sand beaches in Iceland, The Great Barrier Reef, Vaadhoo Island and many other places.

-They return happy, married, and pregnant; again, to no ones surprise (although Sylwanin manages to muster up a little outrage).

-Norm is so close to ratting Jake out to Tommy at this point.

Ah, okay, my bad. Well, let's see what gets my brain wheels squeaking along today. I know I just did locorro IN the Games, but I have just been thinking about how deliciously tragic the little world I spun in that first ask is. I literally adore the idea of Jake and Neytiri meeting in the Games, and of Neytiri bringing Jake back with her to join a loving (albeit broken) family and community, something he has never known. It just... ugh, I love it. So anyways, let me continue that ask.

-I don't have many details on Spider in the Games, because my ass isn't making up a million OC's for him to have to survive against. For me the interest is more in the relationships around him and outside.

-Quaritch showing up for the first time to take him right after he's been selected for the Games is crazy. I think he was a Peacekeeper who had a thing with Spider's mom and as soon as she died he just fucked right off to some other district, leaving Spider with the McCoskers.

-At first, Spider is easily manipulated. He also never really thought he'd be picked for the Games; I can't imagine anyone there does. It's more of a "Bad things don't happen to me, like that would be unreal" like out of body kind of mindset. He's been on the periphery of the Sully's preparation and planning his entire life. He knows how to handle himself, how to keep himself quiet and safe, how to defend himself and how to get himself food. He knows how to kill. But all of these were just background things to learn, serious yeah, but mostly just a way to spend time with his friends more so than him valuing his life enough to try.

-So Quaritch is all "this is a great opportunity, it's bringing us back together." And he love bombs the fuck out of Spider. It only takes him a couple days to snap out of it and realize Quaritch is using him as a political move though.

-Back in the district, none of the kids were aware of Jake and Neytiri's (and Mo'at's) plan to take their kids and escape into the forest if any of the kids got selected, including Spider. It was kept as secret and as need to know as humanly possible. However, it's all painfully obvious now that Spider has been picked and Jake and Neytiri are quickly realizing they literally never planned for that happening.

-It hits the kids that of course, their parents prepared them but would never have actually let them compete. Kiri is furious that they didn't have that same plan in place for Spider. Neteyam is trying to be practical, suggesting it isn't too late and they could break Spider loose and escape still. Tuk is distraught. Lo'ak is, like I said before, fucking catatonic.

-So Jeytiri come to a very serious decision to head to the Capital and meet up with Norm. Neytiri is a victor from Spider's district, and Jake is her husband and also a victor. They are very famous there. They have to do what they have to get to Spider.

-I think they would do all they can to leave the kids behind with Mo'at, but what do you guys think should the kids sneak along anyway? I'm kind of obsessed with the idea of jeytiri moving around the Capital politically making moves and trying to do their best to get to Spider, protect him from the outside, and manuever him to the best places they can to keep him safe but also try to rescue him. I kind of love the idea of him getting out and realizing they've been behind him trying to help him the whole time; that they didn't leave him.

-Like iMAGINE if they sent him a package in the arena at his lowest moment with a message of support that was something he would know instantly was from them. Like I'll end it all.

Different anon but Noccorro hunger games love triangle type where for the sake of it neteyam is katniss, aonung is gale and Spider is peeta. It would work so well because the idea that neteyam and aonung are friends thought their parents, everyone expects them to get together etc etc. The idea that maybe spider is the son of like a dead peace keeper from district one or something? Keeping in line wit the whole son of the enemy, and 5hat the privilege he might havee once had doesn't work the same in the context of the district. Idea of them doing the whole fake romance for the camera and actually falling in love. This whole thing was sparked by the idea that aonung would 100% be like Gale hating the fact that katniss wanted peeta to run away with them, the whole them and us thing UGH gorgeous

THIS IS VERY FUN AND TRAGIC. Ugh, I love love love the parallels in Peeta and Spider both enduring mental torture? Neteyam would be utterly devoted to trying to get Spider back, to help him retain some part of him. At the same time, although there are striking Neteyam and Katniss older sibling struggling under the weight of family trauma and duty parallels, their family lives are so different. I don't wanna kill of Jake, so we are left with a family that would be wary of Spider because of his dead peacekeeper father. But yet, they would see him fight to the death to defend Neteyam for almost no reason in the area, they would be able to watch them fall in love. You can convince me that wouldn't make Neytiri all marshmellow soft, especially if we keep the jeytiri headcanons from the locorro ask. It's spicy, let me tell you.

My interest in these au's doesn't even lie in the games for the most part; it lives in those quiet moments after, where our boys would cling to each other as they struggle to figure out how they fit back into their lives. They are the only ones not treating each other as fragile and breakable, and yet the only ones that know just how broken they already are. Does Spider, who has never had family, fit in Neteyam's big loving family or is he just a painful reminder, a big smudge on an otherwise perfect picture? Is he taking up space that Ao'nung can fill just fine? For Neteyam, does he even know how to fit in with his family anymore? Is he dragging Spider along on a pointless endeavor of trying to be normal? I bet they go weeks trying to be separate and live their old, normal lives, but unfortunately they can't sleep without each other so they always find themselves in the same bed.
