Reasons JimKim would be bad parents:
Criminal record would prevent them from adopting through the regular channels.
Most of Jimmy's interactions with children so far have ended badly. "Contributing to delinquency" is pretty much his whole MO.
[Insert flamewar about all the reasons they shouldn't be together in the first place]
OLD.
Kim's mommy issues.
[Insert flamewar about whether this would even be in-character for Kim to want this for herself]
She'd never get through nine months without a cigarette.
The fanart of them as DINKs is already so good; why mess with that?
"The world needs more white people," said no one.
Reasons JimKim would be great parents:
Jimmy already loves novelty mugs, ugly ties, and bad jokes.
Exhibit A: Swimmy the fish.
Kim has already had to take on a stern but nurturing role working as a juvenile PD. I could easily see them fostering some preteen she took an interest in.
Sometimes cold and distant =/= bad mom. If the love is unconditional, what else is there to say?
They would accept an LGBT child completely.
That scene near the end of BB when Walt is still fuming and planning revenge, and Jimmy's like "You realize Flynn and Holly are basically out on the street right now, RIGHT?!". Low bar but the point is this job calls for an instinct to put others first.
If your kid reaches adulthood with a perfect respect for law enforcement and corporate property, it means you've failed as a parent. And Wexler-McGill would be doomed to make a lot of mistakes, but never that one.
They wouldn't even need to have the discussion: she's the breadwinner, he's the homemaker.
Bob and Rhea both have families IRL and it would be cute to pull from that.

I mean I don't agree. AT ALL that the romance was bland. But I kind of respect your bravery just for stating that opinion on Tumblr.
IMO the Kim/Jimmy dynamic was interesting BECAUSE of the Chuck/Jimmy dynamic. While I admit I am reaching for examples, I think there are a few parallels between Kim and Chuck, and so I read a lot of the McWexler romance as Jimmy trying to replace the Older Sibling figure with someone who actually loved and accepted him, but it's very clear Jimmy has just never actually been on his own his whole life, and is low-key terrified of not having someone to boss him around.
Also I have a lot of headcanon about Kim secretly resenting Chuck, so when I see Kim trying to help Jimmy through his grief, I read it as partially being about her feeling guilty for the falling out the brothers had.
I dunno. I just think I would have liked the relationship less if there WAS more conflict. We already have too many shows where the romantic leads are constantly fighting, and breaking up, and getting back together. And even BCS I thought did that a little bit too much; it makes sense that two lawyers who work together would bicker frequently, but every time the drama slowed down for JimKim to angst over what a bad influence they are on eachother, I was like "FFS I'm watching Twilight; get over it you idiots!". I thought it was refreshing to have a more realistic story where most of the romance was just BFFs hanging out. Sure it was kind of boring (Better Call Saul is JUST KIND OF A BORING SHOW sorry not sorry), but the domestic fluff was important to convey what was lost when the relationship unceremoniously ended.
Plus Kim's whole character arc I think does have strong feminist themes: the opportunity to succeed in a man's world is constantly dangled in front of her so long as she plays by the rules, but in practice she is constantly overlooked, condescended to, judged, objectified, shamed, and plagiarized. And then she has this one thing, this one friend that makes her genuinely feel GOOD, specifically because he's the one to tell her the truth: the game is rigged, you want to break the glass ceiling? Buy a sledgehammer. And she tries so hard to have it both ways; she wants all the benefits of the Saul Goodman lifestyle, but none of the tarnished reputation, but as the story progresses, it becomes clear that she has to choose; she can't be there for her friend AND play the Respectability Politics game. And she comes so close to making the right choice, to choosing love, to choosing freedom and power, but ultimately she can't fully open herself up to being vulnerable with another person, and she still CARES what other people are whispering about her. So she runs away to Florida; she runs away from herself. And I don't have a problem with this as a plot point (although gurl I thought we were past this), but I do have a problem with the show hamfistedly treating this as the correct choice; because god forbid women enjoy a little murdering the rich.
But mostly I think the relationship is interesting because it works as an allegory for political radicalization from liberal to leftist. And Rhea's acting is good enough that we can infer a lot about the spiders in Kim's brain just from the little bit we've seen of her childhood trauma, and understand her motives even as she plays them close-to-her-chest. The tokophobia thing; that's just my headcanon. But the show indisputably treats Kim's stoicism as a flaw she has to overcome. And she starts to... but she has a lot further to go.
i 100% agree the relationship between jimmy and chuck was way more interesting than the relationship between jimmy and Kim. the show really lost something when chuck died. as you said the show was just better and more interesting when they focused on chuck and jimmy than when they focused on jimmy and Kim.
Thank you! I think the jimmy/chuck relationship really brought something different to this universe that hadn't been done yet. It was an interesting spin on the jesse/walt dynamic. Because it's family drama, and with that there's a lot of baggage and history, and the show brought that and put it at the center of the story. It was the heart and soul of the story and what made jimym mcgill become saul goodman. It was just so interesting and complex, it humanized jimmy so effectively; it made you understand why he was Like That so well and even root for him despite everything -- which, I think, is what both shows require of you.
The romance was just... bland, imo. I think it lacked an interesting conflict there for me to get invested. I guess you could argue "us against the world" was sort of the conflict there but... bleh, it was done so blandly. I also didn't feel all of this pull they suppodly had for each other. It lacked passion, imo.
