MDZS AU where Jiang Cheng realizes that Lan Sizhui is the Wen orphan that Wei Wuxian took care off during the Burial Mounds arc, decides that's close enough to qualify him as Nephew, declares that no Nephew of His (much less a surrogate son of Wei Wuxian's) is going to be raised in the Cloud Recedes, and immediately launches into a custody battle with Lan Wangji.

But since neither Jiang Cheng or Lan Wangji can acknowledge that Sizuhi has any connection to Wei Wuxian, both begin steadfastly and stubbornly insisting that he is a Cultivator of peerless potential and skill and he belongs in their sect thank you very much, and would clearly be very unhappy in the other's. This confuses the hell out of the already mystified Cultivation world, who had barely adjusted yet to gossiping about Sizhui being Wangji's illegitimate child by mysterious love affair.

(Eventually the common consensus in the rumor mills is that both JC and LW where in love with Sizhui's mother and both believe themselves to be Sizhui's real father.)

(LW couldn't care less what gossips say, but JC has to bite his tongue till it bleeds to avoid telling anyone the truth in a fit of anger.)

(It was Nie Huaisang who put that rumor out in the first place, partly to troll JC, partly because, in a way, it's a little true.)

If MXTX wanted to make JL a victim of abuse, she would have said so. MXTX has written many characters who have survived and endured abuse before. She never skirts around the topic and has always made it explicit. JL wasn't written to be an abuse victim.

We literally see all his personal battles throughout the story be it him standing up to his bullies, his initial hatred towards WWX and his part in his parent's deaths, or his yearning to have a mother figure in his life.

Not once is abuse by the hand of either of his uncles is mentioned or even implied, because it isn't part of his story. It never was. In fact, any assumptions of abuse and corporal punishment was quickly shut down by JL himself when he corrected WWX who assumed that JC would be the type to punish his nephew by traditional methods.

I'm begging JC antis to read more into the other characters or to at the very least, stop overinflating characters' personalities and actions just to justify your weird hatred for JC and, by extension, his fans? Having these debates is getting so tiring. As is being accused of all sorts of things just for liking a fictional character.

Do y'all not hear yourselves right now when you make these wild assumptions?? About real people you neither know or met? Be fr now.

This is my take on this anyway, as someone who is very tired of this debate constantly being brought up.

Jiang Cheng lunged at the horde with Sandu, which had completely lost its glare. "Shut up!" he snapped at him ferociously.

As he yelled, more blood poured from his nose and mouth. Jin Ling rushed down the steps, seized him, and started dragging him toward Demon-Quelling Cave. Jiang Cheng's spiritual powers were completely gone by now, and he was physically drained from grappling with the enemy for half a day, so Jin Ling was able to haul him over just like that.

This is so funny! Jiang Cheng is so used to yelling at Jin Ling that even in this dire circumstance his first instinct is to yell at the kid to shut up. And Jin Ling is so used to ignoring his uncle's toothless threats that he just runs over and drags him into the cave.

Don't mind me, just thinking about how Jin Ling's other uncle is the literal Chief Cultivator, but when Wei Wuxian (Mo Xuanyu in his mind) is messing with him, Jin Ling's first thought is not to threaten him with telling Jin Guangyao (who was the one to send Mo Xuanyu away in the first place), but to tell his jiujiu
