JJK Chapter 244 Spoilers OKAY YAY FINALLY THEY ARE HERE!! First of all we finally got to see Miwa but considering the way Gege does stuff and the context on her situation it feels like we won't get a peak ever again or something. Which bothers me lol Overall I'm glad that we are finally at trial like I've been waiting for this moment all my life lmao? It feels like from the way they planned this, we might actually end up getting a little bit of Sukuna's past since they mentioned it, but since Yuji is involved right now it might just not happen. It worries me that Yuji was involved in it like that though, it feels like nothing good will come out of it tbh. Anyway the way Yuji's punch took three arms to block though???? He has grown. Do you think they are using the domain like they used Takaba's technique while others are waiting to pull off a Yuta on Sukuna? What if we actually get Gojo revival out of this? hahaha jk,, unless?

now that i’m awake, what the hell was the plan if gojo won? would that mean gojo would’ve had to fight sukuna and kenjaku? what would everybody else do, watch tv again???? why was the plan contingent on his loss???? did he have to lose?? were they all (including gojo) betting on that? what happened to, “nah, i’d win”??? 😭

I got so used to Itadori having those little markings under his eyes that I'm just realizing since chapter 212, he doesn't have them anymore.
They start to fade the moment Sukuna transfers to Megumi's body.
Tumblr media
And then not there anymore!!

How am I just realizing this!?

Read the unofficial translated JJK 244 chapter because im procrastinating on homework, so thoughts below
Liked this chapter! It was wordy and explained some of the things we already knew or are kind of moot points, but I appreciate a chapter of characters interacting and being smart (ish) about what to do with sukuna and kenjaku. And the characters looked SO cute this chapter
Miwa’s comically big eyes are hilarious
Kamo is out of the picture, which makes sense. I’m not sure who else will be involved or leave. Despite what Kusakabe said about sending Miwa to her death alone if she goes first, her vow is limited to katanas, so I can see her using another weapon and joining the fight. Love kamo, but out of all the Kyoto kids, he’s always been the one I can 100% see leaving for family reasons, but I can see Miwa staying as a person who “thinks she doesn’t care about dying” or on the bench. Tbh I would rather have her deal with the aftermath of whatever Kenjaku had a backup plan for, since her revenge failed. It would be neat since she brought that up again this chapter. Do I know how she could help? No, but im not the writer so who cares
I do think everyone has been constantly underestimating Kenjaku at every turn in this series. Sukuna is such a presence and Kenjaku flies under the radar, so they make their death and the possible merger seem too simple
For the others, I can see Momo maybe leaving too, but if Miwa stays, I don’t think she’ll leave and she can be good for scouting like Mei Mei. Mei Mei is absolutely staying, same with Ui Ui, Choso, Shoko, Maki, Ino (imo). Not sure about Inumaki since I don’t know if he already did something with Yuuta. There’s no way panda could survive, but idk if he’d leave. I would say Hana would help, but somehow I feel like Angel could stop her, since she was the one that said Hana can’t fight. I don’t think they’ll leave unless Sukuna is dead (Angel) and Megumi gets help/dies (Hana) either way. NO clue about Kusakabe or Utahime joining any fight
Strange that I couldn’t find Utahime among people in this crowd too. Is this taking place around the start of the Gojo fight because it seems like it, so maybe she was preparing for that with Gakuganji and Gojo.
I’m still so stuck on the fact that Todo is completely gone for zero apparent reason. He doesn’t even use his technique on special grades, so even though he wouldn’t be much help here, he’s still incredibly strong and with his personality, its weird he’s not butting into these conversations. I just want to know the excuse that gege ends up giving for this. If it’s because he’s now besties with Nobara and they’re training together, all will be forgiven ✨
OKAY SO. Kamo and Choso training yuuji! Good chance that this is going with the implication that yuuji ate his brothers and got some blood manipulation from it. I already thought this was the likely case, although I also think Yuuji has a thing with souls (whether that’s related to that scene that made it seem like he switched bodies with kusakabe ¯\_(ツ)_/¯).
Choso’s face when Yuuji said he was a bad teacher was adorable. One of the issues with these flashbacks after a time skip is that I wish we had more of these natural character moments, but it’s instead all plot-relevant to the scene it’s flashing forward to.
I’ve talked about this before, but I like the idea that if yuuji is getting a power up, then it’s as a result of his treatment as a vessel/cage that he can then turn on the people that have mistreated him. Hope im phrasing this right, but that would be more meaningful than suddenly becoming as strong as sukuna with his powers.
Continuing with that, I don’t think Yuuji just becoming Gojo’s successor in matching in strength like Yuuta is the way this is going, or would be a good way to go. I like the idea that he has to be smart about this fight and it’ll likely involve something with the soul. Having overwhelming power does get boring sometimes and it can lead to fights like the Sukuna and Gojo having to work around explaining how an overpowered character loses a battle of strength. This fight already has more strategy and stakes, which is a plus
Even outside of that, pure strength is not everything and Gojo has always represented that. While his desire to raise allies and those with potential to surpass him is nice, that’s not some perfect solution and doesn’t really change things. It’s very in character for Gojo, but I hope this series does more than just ending it with the villains gone and all the main characters in power and overpowered, while nothing actually gets addressed (if this makes sense lol). It kind of reminds me of when Gojo told Gakuganji things would be better if he ran the circle of higher ups, like nice sentiment but a small and ineffective bandaid onto these bigger problems. It’s why I like Yuki a little more of Maki’s destruction of her clan. I’m just rambling at this point, but yeah im just interested in seeing how this story resolves its themes—with the younger generation and whatnot—and if it’ll lean into tragedy or hope (or will be more generic “yay defeated the villains so who cares about everything else!” Ending).
However, power ups can coincide with or represent character development, like with Gojo and Maki’s enlightenment. It’s just not necessary to be a good character and I’ll always be a fan of how “weak” Yuuji has been in comparison over this series no matter where his character ends up.
Good on Yuuji for being the one to introduce the retrial!! And I just love Higuruma and watching him go on these lawyer tangents while Yuuji and Miwa and listening, but confused.
Sukuna being stuck in court on trial for the devastation he’s brought is genuinely one of the funniest sights to see in all of JJK. And in his original form
I need this trial to lead into sukuna backstory and Heian era flashbacks. Only asking gege for this and nobara,, please

I'm beyond exhilarated to finally see him again after being missing for almost 50 chapters but the fact that we see Kamo Noritoshi saying this in a chapter that...

...is right after this

Just gives my overthinking ass all sorts of unimaginable dread like I'm not even joking.

yuji and kenjaku? or jin and kenjaku?
By now we've reached chapter 244, Jjk is becoming more and more unpredictable, but I suspect that when we know who Kenjaku really is and why he and Yuji are close, the answer might be about what Wasuke wanted to say to Yuji just before leaving him forever.
Tumblr media
What reinforces this thought of mine is the fact that in chapter 143 Wasuke seemed to know that if Jin continued to be near the person who took Kaori's body, he would be in danger. Also, this chapter informs us that Jin was apparently aware that Kaori was not "Kaori", because Wasuke says "But her death was-" By her death he meant -> the death of the real Kaori. This is probably exactly why Wasuke thinks his son is in danger. So we are certain that Kaori is theoretically dead, but... here she is. It is obvious that anyone, especially a parent like Wasuke who is aware that that woman cannot be Kaori, would not want his son to be with a dangerous impostor.
Tumblr media
Jin doesn't seem to care much and it's very strange… and creepy. When Wasuke begins to speak, Jin interrupts him, making it clear that he has no intention of listening to words that accuse Kaori.I've always wondered what connection there is between Yuji and Kenjaku, but perhaps the real question is: what connection is there between Jin and Kenjaku?
Tumblr media
And... what if it all started from the two of them?
(anyway a few weeks ago I created another post that would be a continuation of this one):

I have a Higuruma sfw crack head canon and I’m about to turn it into everybody’s problem
Tumblr media
This has been written by an actual criminal defense attorney specialized in continental law (which is the system in place in Japan) with free time on her hands.
So, from what we’ve learned, Higuruma has dedicated his career exclusively to being a criminal defense attorney. Given he’s 35 during the events in JJK, it’s safe to say he has been working with it for at least a decade.
So, as it is to be expected, since he has been called a genius numerous times, his knowledge of criminal law and criminal procedure law is probably off the charts. That has also been demonstrated when he’s debating the possible outcomes to put Sukuna under trial during chapter 244 (also, chef’s kiss 🤌 for mentioning the statute of limitations and code amendments that came in 2010. Whoever consulted for Gege did a WONDERFUL job).
Tumblr media
From what Higuruma has told us previously, Judgeman uses the six Japanese codes to give the sentencing: the Constitution, the Civil Code, the Criminal Code, the Commercial Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure, and the Code of Civil Procedure. I believe this might be a mistranslation, though, because the pachinko parlor prohibition seems to come from what we would call an ordinary bill, not one of the codes, but I digress.
Also, according to him, considering Judgeman is his shikigami, what he believes is feasible under interpreting a law becomes a possible verdict.
Tumblr media
With all that, I need to settle some things of being a specialized attorney for a long time.
What happens, more often than not, is that you become incredibly rusty (and kinda bad) at comprehending and interpreting other areas of law. That happens simply because the rationale of each area works very differently. For instance, I don’t understand or remember most of what I studied regarding labor law during law school, and I’ve been working exclusively with criminal law (as an intern and then a lawyer) ever since 2015.
So here’s my question: if judgeman, for whatever reason, had to judge civil, labor or commercial matters, considering it is bound by Higuruma’s own comprehension of the Japanese laws, would it give bizarre verdicts that wouldn’t make ANY sense in an actual Japanese Court of law?
My head canon is that YES, THAT WOULD DEFINITELY HAPPEN, AND IT WOULD BE FUNNY AS HELL.
Anyway, that’s it, thanks for reading my brainrot. 🦉

Thinking about how Itadori and Fushiguro were probably never suppose to meet.
Feel free to disagree with my argument or chalk it up to me being a sad ass bitch, but it does feel like that.
Feel free to add to this post or send me an ask lol.
Why do I feel like this?
Well, I can’t pinpoint the exact reasons for why I feel this way, I can give some evidence to back it up. I know that JJK is a shonen and it was going to start with Itadori Yuji and end with or without him.
Ofc the most obvious one is Yuji’s death and path leading up to it.
(I will refer to the manga at this point if I will put anime screenshots if I just have them at hand)
Their first meeting
Tumblr media
As you can see Fushiguro was impressed by Itadori’s natural strength. Even comparing him to Maki. However that was the extent he was willing to give to a random person. A very one sided interaction.
Until
Tumblr media
This is the moment the narrative shifts for both Megumi and Yuji. Yuji carrying a curse since the beginning of their meeting (how ironic!) and Megumi is going after him. Sure it’s to retrieve Sukuna’s finger but it’s there.
For anyone who doesn’t know for some odd reason, Megumi’s name translates to Blessing hence why Toji and mama Fushiguro call him such. Yes, his name meaning is important to not only Yuji but to the major players such as Gojo.
Also we have to talk about Grandpa Itadori’s last request.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course we know now that Grandpa’s last words were a curse to Yuji. How this last request shapes Yuji as a person in the coming chapters. Another curse to add to the list of curses. (Do the note the rule of three)
Then we get the scene in the hospital after Yuji’s grandfather dies. (Abridged for time)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is when the plot finally kicks in. Yuji unknowably putting his friends in danger and Megumi has to go save them and the finger. I don’t personally count this as a curse for Yuji as it’s just the direct effect of the first curse I noted. Remember that Yuji comes in when he remembers his grandpa’s words.
Then finally we get to the final curse
Ryomen Sukuna
Itadori Yuji’s last and final curse that sealed his fate. The very thing that led him to the path he’s in. Not just him but also Fushiguro Megumi. From Shibuya to the current arc (Chapter 244-245) both of them have been by each other’s side trying their best to break this curse.
Remember, Yuji was going to be executed once he ate the first finger but due to Gojo’s interference and Megumi’s own personal feelings he was given a choice.
The first chapter really set them up to meet each other regardless of the factors that scream don’t do it/don’t follow him. Especially in hindsight, you can feel the tragedy brewing before it even begins. You somewhat know the consequences in the first chapter and it only grows worse in the second.
But that what makes a good tragedy.
Fuck you Gege you one eye cat
Now I’m gonna bring up chapter 9 for a bit because it’s history is very interesting. Gege did say that if the series didn’t do well, he will leave Yuji dead. (Ofc this didn’t happen and please help me find the source of this information. I know it was stated in an interview but I couldn’t find a translated version.)
Even then, it just solidifies my feelings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the ending of the story. How it’s suppose to end.
Someone said that this seemed like a confession and I have to agree. Whether it’s romantic or platonic, Fushiguro’s feelings for Itadori are real.
Hear that?
That’s me sobbing.
With the recent chapters, it seem bleak but I believe that we will see Fushiguro again.
Yuji and Megumi will meet again maybe for the last time. I’m not Gege, but I trust him not really to give them a proper ending.
