Who was John?
“Now this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, ‘Who are you?’ He confessed, and did not deny, but confessed, ‘I am not the Christ.’
And they asked him, ‘What then? Are you Elijah?’ He said, ‘I am not.’
‘Are you the Prophet?’ And he answered, ‘No.’
Then they said to him, ‘Who are you, that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?’
He said: ‘I am “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Make straight the way of the Lord’,” as the prophet Isaiah said.’ ”

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” —1 John 1:9 “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.” —Psalm 20:7
“Trusting in the one who has never failed” by Jared Dyson (“Another Well Ministries”:
“There are a lot of people putting trust in a lot of places today. We know that in the current events of our world, many are trusting in their military might as is described here in Psalm 20. They are trusting that their military can accomplish all that they want it to accomplish, securing their safety and security.
You can have faith in the military might of the world, world leaders, or political systems all you want, but those things have failed. The Roman army was once the mightiest of the world, yet Rome fell. The political systems of England were once the most powerful and influential, and they lost their power and influence. Mighty leaders have lived in the past, yet they have all died and their influence diminished.
For the Christian, we should not place our faith and trust in these things of the world. As the psalmist says, we should remember the name of God! He is the one that we should be putting our trust in. His ways have never failed. His systems have never crumbled. His influence has never wavered. Through the resurrection, He conquered death and continues to live!
All of the greatness of this world will let you down. It will fail you and it will crumble in time. The greatness of God has never and will never fail. Rather than trusting in the things of the world, we should put our trust in the one who has never failed!”

Pursue what matters most
In the book of Romans, Paul begs Christians to give their entire lives over to God because God sacrificed everything for them. Jesus gave up His life so that we could experience His unending love and grace. We cheapen His gifts if we refuse to align our lives with the way Jesus lived.
But we give our lives to God by making Him the one thing we pursue above anything else.
So here are 5 steps you can practice—right now—to help you put God first.
Give thanks
“We give thanks to you, O God; we give thanks, for your name is near. We recount your wondrous deeds.”
Psalms 75:1 ESV
Right now, take a moment to thank God for what He’s already done for you. Reflect on His faithfulness, and recount the stories you have seen and heard of His wonderful power.
Spend 5 minutes in silence
“Abide in me, and I in you.”
John 15:4 ESV
Abiding in Jesus starts with stillness. So right now, pause, take a deep breath, and give anything concerning you over to God. Spend 5 minutes centering your heart on the One who matters most.
Remember Whose you are
“You are not your own, for you were bought with a price.”
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 ESV
God loves you. The price He paid for you cost Him everything. So remind yourself of Whose you are, and reflect on some of the things God says about you.
Meditate on God’s Word
“Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day.”
Psalms 119:97 ESV
One of the best ways to find out how Jesus wants you to live is by spending time in Scripture. As you do, ask God to speak to you through His Word about what His will is.
Focus on what is excellent
“…If there is any excellence … think about these things.”
Philippians 4:8 ESV
You have been given the mind of Christ. If you’re not sure what you should think about, try asking yourself: What is praiseworthy? What thoughts and actions would honor God?
Make a list of whatever comes to mind, and pursue those things.
By practicing these steps every day, you can create habits that will help you pursue intimacy with God every day, and put Him first above everything else.

The Resurrection (Psalm 16:1-11; Psalm 49:1-20; Matthew 28:1-10; Mark 16:1-8; Luke 24:1-12)
1 Now on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene comes to the tomb early, it being still dark, and she sees the stone having been removed from the tomb. 2 So she runs and comes to Simon Peter and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and she says to them, “They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him.”
3 Therefore Peter and the other disciple went forth and were coming to the tomb. 4 Now the two were running together, and the other disciple ran ahead faster than Peter and came to the tomb first. 5 And having stooped down, he sees the linen cloths lying there; but he did not enter.
6 Then Simon Peter also comes, following him, and he entered into the tomb and sees the linen cloths lying there, 7 and the soudarion that was upon His head, not lying with the linen cloths, but having been folded up in a place by itself. 8 So then the other disciple, the one having come to the tomb first, also entered; and he saw and believed. 9 For not yet did they understand the Scripture that it behooves Him to rise out from the dead.
Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene (Mark 16:9-11)
10 Therefore the disciples went away again to their homes. 11 But Mary stood outside at the tomb weeping. Then as she was weeping, she stooped down into the tomb, 12 and she sees two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.
13 And they say to her, “Woman, why do you weep?”
She says to them, “Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him.”
14 Having said these things, she turned back around, and she sees Jesus standing there, and she had not known that it is Jesus. 15 Jesus says to her, “Woman, why do you weep? Whom do you seek?”
Thinking that it is the gardener, she says to Him, “Sir, if you have carried Him off, tell me where you have laid Him, and I will take Him away.”
16 Jesus says to her, “Mary.”
Having turned around, she says to Him in Hebrew, “Rabboni,” that is to say, “Teacher.”
17 Jesus says to her, “Do not touch Me, for not yet have I ascended to the Father. Now go to My brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.’”
18 Mary Magdalene comes bringing word to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord,” and that He had said these things to her. — John 20:1-18 | Berean Literal Bible (BLB) The Berean Literal Bible © 2016 by Bible Hub and Berean Bible. Romans 1:18‭-‬23 (NLT). “But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles.”
“Evidence of the Lord” By In Touch Ministries:
“God doesn’t leave anyone out—He gives everyone the opportunity to become part of His family.”
“We were created to share a relationship with God—that’s why He has made His existence clear to everyone. Sometimes His revelation is miraculous, like the burning bush that Moses discovered. But more often than not, we encounter our Father’s presence in everyday surroundings.
Paul wrote to the church in Rome that “[God’s] invisible attributes, that is, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, being understood by what has been made” (Rom. 1:20). In other words, the Lord is evident in every created thing. Have you ever wondered how an old oak survives season after season? Have you marveled at the starry sky or watched a colony of ants work together? All such things point us to the Lord.
God made His presence evident in nature because He “wants all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:4). He has given us the capacity to be aware of Him through what He has made. However, the Father has also given every person the choice of whether to accept or reject a relationship with Him.
What will you do the next time you see evidence of the Lord in your world? Scripture promises we won’t regret knowing Jesus. After all, He wants us to “have life, and have it abundantly” (John 10:10)
