“I see you’ve liked our Southern hospitality. Haven’t ya?” Elsie goads, handing any notable weapons off to her cousin.

The Swamp Fox has given express orders to pick off only the enemies officers and to offer the men under them refuge. “Entertain?” Elsie parrots, gleeful laughter crossing over the bridge of her lips. “Do I look like I host insipid fetes like ya man, Clinton or Andre? Or is it something else ya desire all together?” Comes her challenge as she slips behind the bars and crouches tentatively before him. Wetted lips traverse the curve of her lower-lip. “Just how is it ya’d like me to entertain you? And if ya say shoot ya in the back, well, I hate ta break it ta ya. That won’t be happenin’. See, I think ya know when, where, and with whom his Majesty's weapons are arrivin’. I want that information.” Elsie demands. “Now, ya look tired. We can do this civilly or----”

turn week day 2: content creator appreciation day!

i thought i’d do a turn blogs rec list for today, because whenever i force a friend to watch turn (which i’ve done to at LEAST 3 people and plan to do to many more hehe), they always ask me for blogs to follow since it’s a small fandom and it can be hard to find it if you’re not already in it. so!! here are (a few of) the turn blogs i’ve followed for ages and who, in my humble opinion, are staples of this fandom 💖

1. @tallmadgeandtea for her “turn and teas” where she watches and live blogs episodes of turn - they are SO funny and i love reading them the next morning like the morning paper and spam liking every post lol. but also, for her ben x oc content, which is amazing and i highly recommend!

2. @honorhearted for the best RP portrayal of ben i’ve ever seen!!

3. @musicboxmemories for incredible takes on pretty much every character! and for her excellent fics hehe

4. @rhogeminid / @johngravessimcoe the resident simcoe expert! no one understands simcoe like they do!! and also, great art :3

5. @enchi-elm for excellent turn meta and fics! they can somehow write every single character perfectly.

6. @turnwashingtonsbaddies LITERALLY the funniest turn memes blog. idk what it is about their memes but i actually cackle out loud when i see some of them. turn is a comedy and no one understands this more than user turnwashingtonsbaddies

Thank you for the follow back! I've been toying with putting my muses in earthly-historical verses but I am less than studied on the Civil War and the Regency era. [My background was Medieval Europe and the European Witch-hunts.] I can make most of my darlings human it's just getting the setting right!/

I think @lvsteternal, another friend, wrote her masters thesis on V.iking burial rites predating C.hristianity, mini clarification. At least, based on numbers (oc and canonical/historical). My greatest number of muses is 18th century/late 18th century/rococo/american war of independence. For that, I ‘blame’ (affectionate) @honorhearted / @curseconsumed, @annastrxng & @historiavn.

@honorhearted - my initial inspo for writing Tallmadge at all, our portraits of the young abolitionist spymaster are not the same and utilize different readings of his characterization/historical persona, but I hadn’t heard the name ‘Culper ring’ since grade school and now we’re here, also her ocs, here.

@annastrxng - the Anna Strong of all time, also, a wonderful person and very welcoming.

@johngravessimcoe - an excellent portrayal of a most fictionalized version of a soldier in red/green who actually was reasonable irl. Makes Simcoe a bastard (affectionate), without being ‘unreasonable’ war is hell after all. No one’s innocent, not under the circumstance.

@cabbxges-and-kings - she deserves a gold medal for writing Ave Woodhull as she does, enough said.

@audaciiae - the ‘spicy Quaker’ of all time, love me some good Robert Townsend content, those who sit upon the fence are impaled by it.

@neroengland - new friend! Despite the fact, we in the history community cannot stand Henry viii, they understand how terrible he is, as a person (Henry viii and George iii were actually very relatively enlightened monarchs in context of their given times, I’m not condoning either/any monarch, but context matters a lot) and still are able to get in the T.udor monarchs mind and make him at the very least relatable to someone (me) whose a six wives defender to the core.
