So HBO’s Rap Sh!t.
The show isn’t marketed to me and that’s why I hate watched most of it. I know this. So please refrain for getting mad at me for what I’m about to say next.
I hated almost every character on this show. Lol.
Shawna - At the beginning, I felt for her. She tried to do conscious rap. Rap with substance. And that’s what people pretend to want but they truly don’t support it. The rap that so many people swear they hate is the one getting the most shine. So I understood her frustration. But truly she’s just as much of a fraud, selfish a-hole as the people she can’t stand. The only difference she’s broke and not popping and they’re rich and on top.
Mia - She’s one of those influencers you hate. Pretend to be getting money and rich but just rolling in the money they randomly got from men trying to hit. And did y’all peep how quick she turned on Shawna for doing the most at the performance? Yeah, Shawna embarrassed them and was doing the most. But in the episode before, Shawna defended her when Mia was the one to embarrassed them by hitting someone over a simple accident. All because she was upset that the man she met on a sex website actually wanted sex from her when they finally meet in person.
Chastity - she’s a pimp and not a good one. Degrades the women. She made them work for free to get the rap group a gig. The workers will not benefit from any of that. So they just giving free pussy for their pimp to take off. And they seem broke so at this point it seems like they can make the same or more just getting a regular job. ( I randomly just looked up the actress, Jonica Booth, and she’s one versatile woman. She’s absolutely beautiful.)
I most likely will not be watching if it gets another season.

also the strongest character on the show is definitely chastity. like she wants to be part of this world and understands its rules, but she doesn't have the credibility to rise up its ranks, and to gain that credibility she becomes more cruel and scheming (even though she's probably too short-sighted to make it work). that's so compelling to me.

I started watching Rap Sh!t out of spite for Max and I ended really liking it, it's so nice to see well-written WOC anti-heroines (also WOC lesbian rep!). So if you're reading this do me a favor a check out the save Rap Sh!t petition:
(Also we should turn Jonica Booth into a queer icon, she's splendid)

HBO max hates black and proud of it tv shows and that guy running Warner brothers discovery will go to hell

We were watching! "Rap Sh!t," created by Issa Rae, revolved around Shawna Clark (Aida Osman) and Mia Knight (KaMillion), long-time friends who embarked on a journey to form a rap duo, guided by their mentor and manager, Chastity (Jonica Booth). The series made its debut in July 2022 and concluded its run with the release of its 16th and final episode on December 21, 2023.
————————————————-
"Rap Sh!t" marked Issa Rae's third project developed for MAX, following her previous works "Insecure" and the reality television show "Sweet Life." Additionally, Rae served as the executive producer of "A Black Lady Sketch Show" through her production company, Hoorae Media. Unfortunately, both "Rap Sh!t" and "A Black Lady Sketch Show" faced cancellation.
————————————————-
The widespread cancellation of Black fan-favorite shows has disrupted the timeline. Social media users are now directing their concerns towards MAX, insinuating that these decisions are racially motivated and insensitive.
————————————————-
This sentiment is amplified by the fact that the series maintains an impressive 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, accompanied by ongoing acclaim and positive reviews. *Thoughts?* 👇🏽👇🏾📺
