Here is a brief overview of what Radio Stations are looking for when they ask for Professionally Mastered & Tagged Music.

So professionally tagged consist of meta data. Mastering is referring to finished sound quality and meta tagging. What stations do not want is, an mp3 of someone sitting in the bathroom with their guitar and then sending it in labeled ‘ Track 01- final ‘

You can use iTunes to meta tag your MP3’s but there are other app's that work also.

.Wav files will only except limited meta data, such as, name, song titles & Comments. Mp3s will store artwork and your IRSC # for the songs, if they are registered. IRSC# is usually given to your song from your distributor. Also before you submit your song to radio, register with ASCAP or BMI and get the ISWC #. Then register with Soundexchange, because they collect your royalty payments from digital streams

Hi All,

Did you know that using stock music from royalty free sites without written permission could end up in a copyright claim being filed? Royalty free does not mean "FREE",

it means pay upfront and we will give you a license to use it. I would suggest reading the license before publishing the song as your own work. Writing lyrics over stock music doesn't make you the owner of the work. One way to check if music is published already is by using an App called Shazam! When playing a song, Shazam will notify you in seconds if the song or music is published, by whom and where. :) Youtube, online distributors, Soundcloud and Bandcamp will remove music that has been reported or flagged. They will remove you without question, then you will need to prove ownership.

What is an IPI/CAE number?

The IPI/CAE number is an international identification number assigned to songwriters and publishers to uniquely identify rights holders.

IPI stands for: Interested Parties Information

CAE stands for: Composer, Author and Publisher

This information is provided to you from your PRO,

(ASCAP, BMI, or SESAC) These number are different from you account number, and pertain to your works.

Jon KT is a graduate of Madison Media Institute with an Associate's Degree in Recording Technology, and Full Sail University with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Production. He also graduated from Full Sail University’s Entertainment Business Master's program. Jon runs his own production company, K.T. Productions, and has spent the better part of ten years writing and producing songs for others.

During the lockdown, Jon decided to produce a solo album, which was released on November 29th, 2020, titled "The Real Cover Up." This album is a collection of songs Jon grew up listening to and wanted to rework to bring them to a new audience. Recently, Jon started writing again and took the opportunity to address the widespread impact of the 2020 lockdowns. His song “Shattered” is not about any specific individual but rather reflects the general struggles people face in their daily lives.

Jon has won several U.K. Songwriting Contest Awards from 2018 to 2020 and has received multiple Indie Rampage Awards for several consecutive years. He was named Engineer of the Year (2021-2024) and Producer of the Year (2021-2024), and his work has earned the Pop Album of the Year award from 2021 to 2024. He is also a two-time Grammy-nominated songwriter.
