Listen I am on my rewatch of The Glory and aside from being madly in love with both the romantic and unhinged nature of Joo Yeo Jeong, The absolute disparity between the good and bad parents in this show is killing me.
Dong-Eun’s mom? Absolute piece of trash with no class.
Yeon-Jin’s mom? Karen who thinks money and power can buy you anything.
Yeo-Jeong’s mom? Absolutely 100% supportive, but not stupid and committed to doing the right thing.
Kang Hyeon-Nam? The baddest bitch alive, willing to do anything to save her daughter even if it means endangering herself.
And then you have the disparity between Jae Jun and Do-Hyeong, who both cared about Ye-Sol. Jae Jun only cared about her when it was convenient for him and wanted her not because he truly loved her but because he wanted to possess her. Meanwhile, you have Do-Hyeong who is constantly looking out for Ye-Sol’s best interests even though he isn’t biologically related to her.
NOT ONLY THAT, but you also have Yeo-Jeong’s Dad, who was murdered by a patient while doing what he thought was right by saving him, unintentionally starting his son on the path to revenge.
And like yeah The Glory’s main focus is revenge but it’s also an exquisite commentary on how we pass down, inherit, come to terms with, and outright prevent generational trauma from our parents. It also shows how we can choose to do better or worse than they did based on the relationships we create or take for granted.
Idk man, as a generational trauma cycle breaker myself and mom of an (adopted adult) daughter that also experienced so much of that, this show gets to me on a parenting level in a way I can’t even begin to describe.
(Also Do-Yeong’s relationship with Ye-Sol makes me cry in the best way 🥹)

THE DIVORCE INSURANCE
GENRES: Comedy, Romance
SUMMARY: Who better than four divorcees and one sologamist to create, test, and bring to production a divorce insurance plan meant to keep marriages happy and successful?
THIS SHOW HAS EVERYTHING: Broken bidets, terrible exes, wonderful exes, monks, pet rocks, to-go soup pots, folding chairs, camping jeeps, forest tigers, borrowed formal wear, green flag coworkers, international travel, knitting, museums, and knowing yourself.
HOT TAKE: This show was a slow burn, but it made up for it in earnest goodness. Although the corporate stakes were a little overblown and Kim Won Hae's performance was a little over the top, we really got a suitable amount of time to learn about each of the MLs, love them for who they are, and hope for their absolute happiness.
Lee Dong Wook is always stellar, whether he's a grumpy gus or a green-flagged charmer like he is here. Regardless of any specific romantic preferences, I bet everyone who watches this show will 100% want to date his character at the end of the series. Kudos to whomever styled Lee Kwang Soo--they made him super swoon-worthy with those side part hairdos and thick eyeglasses!
Some really great cameos in this show, too!

Way Back Love
Tumblr media
TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2025
Way Back Love (2025, South Korea)
Director: Choi Ha Na
Writers: Song Hyeon Ju & Jang In Jeong (based on the novel by Seo Eun Chae)
Mini-review:
I knew right upon reading this drama's plotline that it would be right up my alley, and I wasn't wrong. It's just such a great mixture of comedy, romance and tragedy. And despite its short length, the two leads are beautifully written and developed. Hell, even some of the supporting characters are pretty well defined. Both Kim Min Ha and Gong Myung are perfectly cast, plus they share some amazing chemistry. I also loved the cinematography, which gives the whole thing a movie-like vibe. My one gripe would be the editing; there are moments where it feels like some scenes are missing. Anyway, if you're looking for a short drama that can make you both laugh and cry, Way Back Love is the answer.

The Secret Romantic Guesthouse
Synopsis:
Scholars Kang San (Ryeoun), Kim Shi Yeol (Kang Hoon), and Jeong Yoo Ha (Jung Gun Joo) have all come to the capital to take the civil service entrance exam – in the hope of one day becoming top-ranking public officials. But together with the innkeeper Yoon Dan Oh (Shin Ye Eun), they stumble upon clues about a bizarre disappearance that took place over a decade ago that involves the deposed Crown Prince's son. Do they have what it takes to solve the puzzling mystery – and possibly find love on the way?
The Best Things About This Drama:
The ensemble cast
Thoughtful, well balanced plot
Bokshil
Choi Tae Hwan
4/5. From start to finish, this was just a GOOD series. The plot was well balanced, events were well spaced, characters were developed and used to their full potential, and it had a little bit of something for everyone. Romance, mystery, drama, intrigue, comedy, action, and found family.
You never felt like you were being tricked as the plot (and mystery) began to unfold. There were plenty of red herrings, but they were used so well that it simply added to the excitement rather than frustrate you. And when the truth was finally revealed, there was always some new layer that teased your interest.
The ensemble of characters are all given ample time to establish themselves as important parts of the story, because ultimately that's the focus - the story, not any two main characters. While there was definitely plenty of drama, this wasn't a trauma and you were left emotional, but not completely wrecked by some of the revelations.
The only stand out performance for me was that of Hyun Woo who played the King, Lee Chang. Usually the paranoid King is done to an extreme and you feel like it's become a caricature, but he did a great job at keeping it more subtle so that you were reminded it was always there, just below the surface without it being his singular trait. When he did snap, it felt like something that a King who had no fear of consequences would do.
And Choi Tae Hwan was precious and adorable as Yoon Gu Nam, and I want to put him in my pocket.
There is a lot to love about this series, especially if you like your endings gift wrapped with a bow. If you're looking for an entertaining, interesting, and enjoyable series that you can watch without fear of needing therapy, then this is the one for you.

THE DIVINE FURY
GENRES: Horror, Drama
SUMMARY: A man who has no reason to love God finds himself filled to the brim with the power to defeat Seoul’s demons.
THIS MOVIE HAS EVERYTHING: MMA perfect scores, fast cars, crows, priest fanboys, stigmata, serpent demons, Brutalist nightclubs, possessed kids, fangs, immortality, demons, vampires (maybe?), and thankful nuns.
HOT TAKE: Personally I find K-SciFi to be a bit lacking in the CG department, but this movie does a great job balancing practical effects with the weird and over the top supernatural creations. I was suitably creeped out and awed and none of the effects took me out of those moments.
Very nearly everyone you've ever seen in a Kdrama in the past 10 years had a role in this movie. It would have been an excellent reunion without all of that pesky demonic possession!
Also, come on. Park Seo Jun AND Woo Do Hwan fighting like the world depends on it? A+ casting choices, A+ fight choreography.
