Listen I am on my rewatch of The Glory and aside from being madly in love with both the romantic and unhinged nature of Joo Yeo Jeong, The absolute disparity between the good and bad parents in this show is killing me.
Dong-Eun’s mom? Absolute piece of trash with no class.
Yeon-Jin’s mom? Karen who thinks money and power can buy you anything.
Yeo-Jeong’s mom? Absolutely 100% supportive, but not stupid and committed to doing the right thing.
Kang Hyeon-Nam? The baddest bitch alive, willing to do anything to save her daughter even if it means endangering herself.
And then you have the disparity between Jae Jun and Do-Hyeong, who both cared about Ye-Sol. Jae Jun only cared about her when it was convenient for him and wanted her not because he truly loved her but because he wanted to possess her. Meanwhile, you have Do-Hyeong who is constantly looking out for Ye-Sol’s best interests even though he isn’t biologically related to her.
NOT ONLY THAT, but you also have Yeo-Jeong’s Dad, who was murdered by a patient while doing what he thought was right by saving him, unintentionally starting his son on the path to revenge.
And like yeah The Glory’s main focus is revenge but it’s also an exquisite commentary on how we pass down, inherit, come to terms with, and outright prevent generational trauma from our parents. It also shows how we can choose to do better or worse than they did based on the relationships we create or take for granted.
Idk man, as a generational trauma cycle breaker myself and mom of an (adopted adult) daughter that also experienced so much of that, this show gets to me on a parenting level in a way I can’t even begin to describe.
(Also Do-Yeong’s relationship with Ye-Sol makes me cry in the best way 🥹)

Officer Black Belt (Mudosilmugwan/무도실무관) - Movie Review
TL;DR – While the action scenes hit, unfortunately, we get a tonally confused film that never quite finds its feet. ⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 3 out of 5. Post-Credit Scene – There is no post-credit scene.Disclosure – I paid for the Netflix service that viewed this film.Warning – Contains scenes that may cause distress. Officer Black Belt Review – Today, we are looking at a fascinating film that, for all…

*DISCLAIMER: Please note, the admin team has made the decision to exclude Goblin and Hotel Del Luna from polls going forward (with some relevant exceptions). This is due to the fact that these shows overwhelmingly win every poll they are included in, making them extreme outliers every time they're in polls. And have had winning edits created numerous times throughout the duration of POTW. This will allow more fairness and variety in the polls and winning edits going forward. We appreciate your understanding in this decision ♡

a/n: Hey there, this is my first time writing a fan fiction. I might change a few things in my fictions later on. Also, my English isn't my first language so my writing might lack some fluency. Hope you enjoy :)
trigger warnings: lots of swearing, bullying, murder, gore, depression, abuse, mature content, violence, sexual themes.
pairing: reader x multi
************************************************************************
Moon Dong-Eun
I’ve been a great help to Y/N for quite many days. I finished tutoring Min-hee and helped her get into the Semyeong Elementary School. On the other hand, I helped Y/N move into her new apartment. After finishing helping her settle, I got her the job at the convenience store. The old lady was really nice and that she told us that she was in need of another helper since she couldn’t handle everything all alone. All the supplies for the school and the transportation services were done by me.
After everything was done, I brought Y/N to my apartment. She was caught off-guard due to all the pictures of them attached to the walls in front of her.
“You did quite the research, didn’t you? You weren’t kidding back then when you told me you tracked each and every step they took,” she said as she slowly approached a picture of the group together in their teens. She was reading the sticky notes that I attached on some of the pictures when she saw a polaroid of her when she was young, followed by few other pictures of her from the current time, along with her niece. She also saw a few photos of her families before and after they separated. She stood in front of those and rubbed her finger gently on an image of a girl I believe was her sister.
“You didn’t leave me out as well,” she said as she turned around to meet my eyes. “I have every reason to be mad at you, Dong-eun, but at the same time, I don’t. I can simply report you to the police for stalking me and immediately put an end to your years’ effort, but at the same time, I can’t. I can easily walk out of this place and quit participating in your plan, but I don’t wish to. Because I trust you, Moon Dong-Eun. Not only am I risking my own life, but also Min-hee’s life. Once they find out about her, they will use her against me as my weakness. So make sure you prove me wrong and help us not get caught.”
After hearing those words from her, that’s when I knew I did the right thing involving her in this. She’s aware of the environment she’s getting herself into and knows how to take the necessary precautions, and not just an airhead with the lust for revenge.
“I knew you would feel this way once you notice those pictures. But I couldn’t help it either. When we were in school, you never bought a cell-phone for yourself. So it was quite difficult to track you down.”
“I would rather call it stalking than tracking down, Dong-eun,” she said as she turned away from me to look back at those images. I couldn’t say anything since she made a fair point. But I didn’t have any other choice either.
“I don’t recognize her. Who’s she?” She points out to a picture of Hyeon-nam.
“That’s Kang Hyeon-nam. She works for me as my assistant. She’s the one who helped me land the job as a homeroom teacher. She’s also the one who ‘stalked’ you.”
“Huh, interesting,” she said as she removed her finger from the picture and placed her hands inside her pockets. “I would like to get to know her.”
“You will when the time is right.”
I walk towards the kitchen as she moves from the wall to the window, her eyes never taking it off of those images.
I placed a small security camera at the top shelf in my kitchen, making it unnoticeable, and connected it with my phone. I took out another small box that contained another security camera and handed it to Y/N.
“There’s a possibility of them finding out about our address once they get to know about our plans. So take this, and install this somewhere where nobody will notice it. And don’t be surprised when one of them or all of them enters your house when nobody’s there.”
“Alright,” she takes it from my hand and puts it back into her satchel.
“Come on, let’s go to the roof.”
“The roof?”
“Yeah, I want to show you something.”
“Okay,” she walks past me towards my door. I unlock the door open as she busies herself in putting her shoes back on. As we got outside, I locked it behind me and walked towards the elevator.
We got inside the elevator and pushed the button to go upwards.
“Did you get the invitation for the Alumni Awards?”
“Sorry, what?”
“The Alumni Awards ceremony at Sung-han High. It’s in a few days.”
“Oh yeah maybe I did. I haven’t checked it yet.”
“Am thinking of going.”
“Wait, they’re going to be there too, wouldn’t they?”
“Yes. You need to come as well.”
“What’s the use? We aren’t even getting any awards?”
“It’s not about awards, Y/N, it’s a game of intimidation.”
She kept staring at me as if I said something illegal that deserves life in prison. We didn’t talk for a while.
The elevator came to an abrupt halt and the doors slowly opened before us. We stepped outside and climbed few more stairs to finally get to the roof.
It was a beautiful evening with the sun just setting, the color of the sky a perfect hue of flame. We came near the edge that overlooked the houses that stretched far beyond our vision. The tall buildings at far distances created just the flawless silhouette I’ve ever witnessed. Everything about Semyeong just felt so beautiful at the moment. I never took some time for myself to appreciate how exquisite this place this. The ordeals I faced here, never actually gave me any time to appreciate anything about my life.
“You see the house there?” I points to the one nearby.
“Yeah, what about it?”
“That’s where Yeon-jin lives.”
The perfect moment she was in immediately faded when she heard her name.
“That’s where she lives?”
“Yes. Ha Ye-sol, Ha Do-yeong, Park Yeon-jin, all under the same roof.”
She looked at me with her bewildered eyes, a face of the scared.
“But-then why did you buy this apartment? Wont they find out easily?”
“Not so easily Y/N, she has no clue whatsoever. She still thinks that she can get away with anything. She never learns.”
She looks back at the house. The lights on the road and inside the house lit up as it got darker. We didn’t talk for a while. The sun had set a while ago. Everything is just happening so fast, it’s making me feel overwhelmed, but I didn’t think of telling that to Y/N, otherwise she would be scared too, almost like how a mother deep down feels scared for their children but acts like there’s nothing wrong, just for them to not get scared.
It’s been my dream, for so many years, to stand here and watch over all of them, behaving as if they did absolutely nothing wrong, as if, they can get away with anything they want. Little do they know, that am right here, right in front of them, to prove them wrong.
“The day I dropped out from Sung-han High, I went to meet them, at the gym.”
She removed her hands from the edge and turned to look at me.
“What?”
“Yes. That day, I felt something new, some kind of new change in myself, something a bit evil.”
“Evil?”
“Yes. Almost like, the end of their reign, but a beginning of my hell.”
“What happened that day?”
“That day, was the only day I entered the gym voluntarily. Nobody forcibly dragged me there, I went in completely on my own. I remember so clearly, as I walked in, Hye-jeong started walking away from me, as if she was scared of me. But I ignored her, and went straight to Yeon-jin, sitting at her usual place. The weirdest part is, we talked about our dreams.”
“Dreams?”
“Yeah, they submitted their “dreams” at Cyworld, and I read all of them, told them about those that day. Yeon-jin dreamt of becoming a wise mother and a wife, Choi Hye-jeong dreamt of becoming a stewardess, Jeon Jae-joon wanted to own the golf course, and Lee Sa-ra dreamt of being an artist. Obviously, they asked me about my dream as well.”
“So what did you say then?”
“Yeon-jin,” I said with a pause. “I told her that she was my dream, and that I really wish to meet her again.”
“So all of our dreams finally came true.”
“Indeed. And I wish to bring them to their knees and show them no mercy.”
She turned around to look at me again, but I didn’t. I haven’t taken my eyes off of that house.
“Does Ha Do-yeong have the slightest idea that he married a monster?”
“He doesn’t, but he will soon. And so will Ha Ye-sol. I wish to isolate her to the point that the people she holds dear, the ones who covered up her crimes, will give up on her. Soon then she will feel like the only human on this planet, she would become completely transparent. All of her crimes and secrets will show up and she will rot in hell. Nobody will ever even think, of helping her. You can never change a monster, Y/N, never.”
She stares at me for a while and then looks away. The air was filled with aroma of the potted plants behind us.
“Do you wanna know what Myeong-oh’s dream was?”
“What?”
“To become rich.”
She began eyeing me from the side when we burst into laughters. When was the last time I laughed like this?
We took a breather to stop ourselves from more laughing. It was quite hilarious how Myeong-oh dreamt of becoming rich yet here he is, working as Jae-joon’s lackey.
“Alright then. I guess I’ll see you on the awards day.”
“Yeah.”
We went back the same way we came to the roof. Climbed down the little flight of stairs and got into an elevator to the ground floor.
I saw her out and got her a cab. As I went up to my apartment, I was thinking of how I could have told her about the meeting I had with Myeong-oh few days ago. I will tell her when the timing is right. I bribed him enough to keep him in suspense—he will also be the one to know who murdered Yoon So-hee, hopefully.

i’m not even joking i was about to send u an ask asking if u had watched the glory bc i felt u would like the vibe and then i see u reblogged that gif set omg how do u like the show?
its one of my absolute favourite shows!! as expected i am the most down bad for ha do-yeong and his subplot with ye-sol and kang hyeon-nam's story really resonated with me the most as well. i feel like we don't see mentions of her sacrifices enough.
i love love love everything about the show from the theme to the characters and i wish there was more content of it (that didnt surround jae-jun, no offence) i think it's just one of those shows that really stays with you for a long time because everyone can find something in it to relate to.

Rewatching The Glory and kind of having random TMA thoughts on which avatar would the main characters be.
Moon Dong Eun: the Web, queen of scheming and playing the long game. Absolute boss at adapting plans according to new situations.
Joo Yeo Jeong: the Hunt, ready to charge as soon as he's got a target, though not the best at strategies. He feels most passionate when he's being sent out on missions as Moon Dong Eun's soldier. His life finally being gifted a purpose.
Ha Do-Yeong: the Eye, everlasting hunger for more context and clues, but always just one step behind everyone else since he's gorging himself with too much knowledge too fast.
Park Yeon-Jin: the Spiral, lies are her second nature and she believes there's nothing she can't get away with, with a little application of gaslighting.
Jeon Jae-Jun: the Desolation, his favorite part of a conflict is when he gets to see the opponent writhing in pain under his boots. Yes, he can destroy people physically, but it's so much more fun for him when he has devastated their souls too.
Lee Sa-Ra: the Corruption, enjoys the toxic company of her friends and constantly trying to fill the emptiness of her life with things that makes her decay (a.k.a. her substance abuse).
Choi Hye-Jeong: the Flesh, never feels exactly satisfied in her own skin, but behaves as if she's better than everyone, especially because she's so very willing to go under the knife for her latest "improvement" to her body.
Son Myeong-O: the Slaughter, overtly excited at the thought of casual violence, callous and have no regards for any moral qualms whatsoever.
Bonus!
Kang Hyeon-Nam: at first I want to go with the Buried, since she was struggling financially. But I think she's closer to the Lonely, since she's always just once stop short of ever connecting to people around her. Her kid is away, Moon Dong Eun's appearances in her life are sporadical, and her husband's abuse would made her (justifiably) wary of the people around her.

The Glory (2022-23)
Tumblr media
This show is very good television, and I when I finally got to it, I binged the heck out of it. But I do have some questions.
What Worked
As a revenge story, this is almost without peer. The villains are despicable and you love to hate them. Like Count of Monte Cristo, everything bad that happens to them feels both deserved and (in some fashion) self-inflicted. And their endings feel inevitable, somehow.
To put it simply, the villains make this show work. When they're good, the show is good. When they're written lazily, or for shock value, or as a cartoon, then the show is less good.
What Didn't Work
Like Count of Monte Cristo and similar stories, some of the antagonists were more compelling than others, and there are times when the writer is judging them harsher than they deserve. Which takes some of the enjoyment out of what happens to them.
The worst example is probably "the druggie", Lee Sa-ra, who is written like a hoodlum in a 50s "reefer madness" movie. Just a few moments of compassion, or an effort to humanize her (even a little) would have gone a long way.
There were also a few scenes where the sex and/or violence went too far and felt gratuitous. For me, these were more puzzling than off-putting, and it wasn't enough to make me dislike the show, but it did bring me out of the show a little.
The Performances
This is the best performance I've seen from Song Hye-kyo. She's always been interesting to watch (and not just aesthetically), but her acting has a tendency to be a little wooden. It helped that the character was written to be a stoic, but she managed to bring depth and subtlety to her role as well.
Lim Ji-yeon, who played the lead bully, was mesmerizing and stole every scene she was in. The villain usually has the most fun in these types of shows, but Ji-yeon managed to make a character who is normally the "spoiled princess" feel genuinely scary. Shin Ye-eun, who played the younger version of this character was very good, and very well cast.
Yeom Hye-ran who played the housekeeper turned spy Kang Hyeon-nam, was another standout. I loved her in Uncanny Counter but this is probably the best role of hers that I've seen.
Everyone else. The cast did a very good job all around, and I'm sure everyone has their favorites. I'm not going to name check them all, but there were no weak links.
TL; DR:
The show is hyped for a reason. If you're in the mood to watch some bad people get punished, this is definitely for you.

EOY Drama Challenge 2023
Day 8: Standout secondary character
I'm sticking with The Glory and saying Kang Hyeon-nam. Her story was just as compelling as the main character, and in some ways her victories were even more satisfying.

OK so i saw a couple of trending dramas, here are my reviews on them hihi :)
Strong girl nam soon = ... wtf was that drama. Dgw, I love love my girl yoomi, but boy did her character make me wanna whack her ass back to Mongolia. Ik the directors tried to make her quote quirky unquote. But they missed the mark by a couple thousand miles, she's more of an airhead than a quirky, bubbly girl. I hate, hate the characters sm in the drama, they're all so.... one dimensional. Probably that's why many are defending shi-o or were rooting for him, cause he's the only one with some depth to his character. Half the scenes with ML and namsoon were so ... weird. It all felt so forced, there was no pining like its super iconic predecessor strong woman do bongsoon, there were no iconic scenes like minhyuk melting into a puddle when bongsoon called him min min or gokdu's tsundere antics, this drama gave nothing. And why bother calling it strong girl nam soon when half the entire drama revolved around her mother's weird ass obsession with being a messiah and the grandmother's cringey love story. It's sad to see such talent get wasted on a script that looked like a newborn had written it. 4/10 would not recommend.
Business proposal = ikik this drama isn't 'trending' perse but it still is quite highly talked about. And I'm glad I checked it out, the chemistry between seol in-ah and minkyu was JS8W8SOQ8SJQKA91828SIW lmao and ahn hyeon seop nailed the role. Such a lighthearted and fun drama, sejeong's quirky-ness was adorable and funny, I still giggle whenever I remember 'Rachel and samantha'. I was a bit worried that they'll go on a an entire tangent on the ceo's back story, but I'm glad they didn't and kept it light and fun but also simultaneously giving the ceo closure and comfort. 7/10 would recommend because I'm scared of the archeopteryx
Twinkling watermelon = wtf was that drama pt 2. But In a good way. It scared me so deeply but also applied ointment and gave me a hug. Such a comforting drama. No drama could ever make me cry on the second episode but guess what, twinkling watermelon did that. I was bawling throughout, but also laughed, and cooed because the chemistry between eomma and appa was adorable! No wonder they love each other sm, they've been thru so much. :(((( as someone who's worried about my youth slipping away, I found immense comfort in that drama. And how eun ho said something along the lines of, "enjoy your youth, it's the only time you'll twinkle. You don't have to be worried about me sk much, I'll find my way, it's my life after all" >>>>> and the ending when the music master said, "to you and to everyone you wish to protect, viva la vida, long live life" I'm never getting over that drama. Although I did find seol's character a bit annoying in the beginning because she wasn't letting eomma and appa meet but then I fell for her too lol. What a cutie. 9/10 would recommend to everyone till the time I'm blocked by them.
My demon = the newly trending song Kang drama was quite fun to see, although only 2 eps are out, I'm invested lol. I've always been a huge fan of Kang since I saw him in sweet home. And yoojung is practically my wife. The chemistry was off the roof, the visuals, the tension, the acting, the humor >>>>>> 8/10 I'm excited to see how this drama will unfold. I've a lot of expectations.

You've Fallen For Me (kdrama, 2011)
Tumblr media
"You've Fallen For Me" is a musical drama about Kyu Won, a student who plays the gayageum and Lee Shin, who is majoring in modern music and has a band called "The Stupid". The two go to the same school, but their paths never cross. They meet unexpectedly, but their first impressions aren't very good.
Lee Shin has a one-sided love for Yun Su, a teacher at school who was in a relationship with Seok Hyeon. Kyu Won falls in love with Lee Shin and tries to make him forget Yun Su, but it takes him a while to accept her feelings. They become closer when they both enter the school musical, and as they spend time together, Lee Shin begins to see Kyu Won in a new light.
This drama is for every person who wanted Mi Nam to end up with Shin Woo… to bad that the couple ends up being a bit disappointing, they had much more chemistry in "You're Beautiful". I don't know how to explain it, but they are strange together, like two pieces that don't fit together, the romance is really the weak point of the drama.
The strong point of this drama is the music, the songs are amazing and addictive. Being able to see Jung Yong Hwa and Kang Min Hyuk acting together in a drama is a dream coming true <3
