Hobbies: I have a lot! Aside from writing, there are:

(junk) journaling, which in turn, lead me to my stationery and fountain pen hobbies

playing the piano (been playing since I was 5)

swimming (was a competitive swimmer for most of my child and teenage years)

I garden in the spring/summertime

I also love to cook and have done dinner parties for my friends (but I don't enjoy baking)

I'm also into photography

I wish I had more time in the day for it, but I also try to do some language learning!

If you could have any job you wish what would you have? A food/travel writer/reviewer!

Something you’re good at: I've been told I'm good at giving advice and listening to people. Personally I'm very good at directions! There have been a few times where I've been stopped on the street and helped people navigate their way around.

Something you hate: Oranges :(, I can't stand the colour, the smell and the taste.

Something you forget: Hmmm not sure! I guess phone numbers. I only remember the numbers of my immediate family...

Your love language: Gift giving! I love getting people gifts and try hard to get something meaningful and/or practical. I'll try to remember little details about my friends and find something along the lines of that. I also love receiving gifts lol.

Favourite movies/shows: Ahhh so many! For animanga: Bleach, Samurai Champloo, xxxHOLiC, Sailor Moon, JJBA Diamond is Unbreakable. For movies: Spirited Away, Sorry to Bother You, Drive, Kill Bill Vol 2, Sympathy for Lady Vengeance, The Fall. Shows: Hannibal, Regular Show, 30 Rock, Prison Playbook (k-drama), Hotel del Luna (k-drama), Racket Boys (k-drama).

Favourite food: Too many... I think I could eat soup dumplings/xiaolongbao by the bucket loads. Or Sri Lankan crab curry mmmm. I also can't say no to chocolate cake 🫣

Favourite animal: bears!!! I know they could kill me, but why are they friend-shaped :(

What were you like as a child? I was an easygoing child and VERY curious. I would wake up in the middle of the night to do "science" experiments. Like one time I woke up around 3am and I dug up the front yard to find "cool rocks" �� or buy mentos from the local convenience store, wait for everyone to go to bed, then sneak into the kitchen and put the mentos in my parents 2L coke bottle to see it explode LMAO.

Favourite subject in school: i've been in school for too long: french & geography -> science -> physics -> biology -> advanced health economics for low and middle-income countries & biostatistics

Least favourite subject: Wood working... to avoid a fail, I asked the guy who had a crush on me to help me with my final project 🫣 I also hated organic chemistry in undergrad.

What’s your best character trait: I've been told I'm very caring and calming to be around! I had a friend describe me as a "human version of a spa" 💀

What’s your worst character trait? I cut people out of my life very easily. I think I should be more forgiving, but I just... can't get passed whatever slight was made to me/loved ones. I'm trying to be understanding and compassionate, but I also don't want you near me ever again lol.

If you could change any detail of your life right now, what would it be? I hope trump and his administration dies. In my immediate life? I'd like a higher salary.

If you could travel in time, who would you like to meet? It is definitely a tie between Johann Sebastian Bach and Muzio Clementi!! They are my favourite composers. My piano exam repertoire for the Baroque and Classical periods were from their piano repertoire. I have so much fun playing them and would love to learn their thought processes.

A groundbreaking new peer-reviewed study involving a staggering 85 million people has confirmed that Covid “vaccines” have caused sudden deaths, strokes, heart attacks, coronary artery disease, and other deadly chronic conditions to skyrocket to epidemic levels.

The study was led by Raheleh Karimi from the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the Isfahan University of Medical Sciences in Iran.

During the major study, Karimi coordinated a team of international researchers, including leading scientists in Spain and Portugal.

The study’s paper was published in the latest editions of the prestigious International Journal of Preventive Medicine.

This comprehensive Bayesian multivariate meta-analysis included 15 studies.

A century of advancements in medicine and improvements in health care has had little impact in some states, a new study from Yale researchers finds. How long you live depends on where you live, new research suggests. Americans’ life expectancy increased throughout the 20th century, although in some states, particularly in the South, people aren’t living much longer than they were 100 years ago. It’s worse among women. Researchers at the Yale School of Public Health analyzed the death data of 77 million women and 102 million men born from 1900 through 2000. The findings, published Monday in the journal JAMA Network Open, showed that nationwide life expectancy for women increased from 73.8 to 84.1 in that time frame, while it jumped from 62.8 to 80.3 for men. Scientists and health officials calculate life expectancy at birth as a way of understanding a country’s health over time. How long people in the United States lived since the last century varied drastically by state. “What was surprising to me was that for some states, especially for women, there’s basically no change,” said study co-author Theodore Holford, a senior research scientist in biostatistics at Yale University. “Over 100 years, in some of these Southern states, they improved less than two years in the framework of all of the medical advances that we have seen during the 20th century.”

hopping in to greet you skye! 🖤 I know I've made myself scarce but I figured this is how I am going to be conserving my limited energy (i guess this is an excuse? justification?)

How have you been? How's uni if you're in semester and if not then when do you start?

I have a summer semester now, with on course subject (Community Medicine) which is basically just research, public health stuff and biostatistics in one subject (knowing that I've taken each of these separately before lmao). We're actually starting with our research project, it feels weird to be doing something other than hospital rounds and endlessly gobbling up dense medical material, but I'm hoping for something good, maybe even getting published in a journal. Also, I've taken up leadership in my team so uhmmm pulling a Seungcheol here lol. It's so hot it's annoying the heck out of me, and next week the forecast says it's gonna hit 40°C like????? I can't wait for winter girl, I am soooo done. As for writing, I think there's a good ass block, but yk what I'm not gonna force anything, I'm busy enough to worry about other things and slowly figure out what i want to do, barely any content from me but oh well.

Evidence-based practice (EBP) is the term that refers to the need for nursing to be based on research that has been conducted in the most thorough scientific manner, consistently tested, rigorously proved, and only then published by peer-refereed academic journals. Evidence-based nursing is popular in nursing since it joins science with practice and bases nursing on a more critical scientific basis. It puts the nurse, so to speak, in the driver's seat and allows her -- in fact encourages her -- to question her transmitted teachings, to critically review authoritative sources of her field, and to herself conduct studies would she so wish. This is important in various ways: firstly it makes nursing a more of an intellectual study for students who may need and wish for that intellectual component. Secondly, it frees nurses form the traditional, often submissive and uncritical obeisance to doctors. Nurses are encouraged to critically question their teachings and to conduct independent reading and thinking that may actually reveal information contradictory to what they are taught. Thirdly, it makes nurses more confident: more confident that they can know, understand, and contribute tote h field on the same level, in a similar way -- just as intellectual -- as the physicians can. Nurses are no longer in the demoted position. Their knowledge and skill in scientific research ratchets them to an equal position with that of their traditional 'betters'. Finally, although not conclusively, EBP is excellent for nurses, for patients, and for the medical institution in general in that it keeps nurses current with current research on their topic helping them to catch deficiencies in past action and to keep their practice on the cutting-edge. EBP is advantageous for many other reasons. These are just a few. EBP, according to the Agency for Health Care Research and Quality (AHRG) is important not only in that it provides nursing practice with a reliable and authentic base, but is also cost-effective in that allocates related costs and resources in the most economical and effective manner by basing its needs on secure and reliable research (Scott & McSherry, 2009). According to Scott and McSherry (2009), EBP has caused a paradigmatic shift in the field because, instead of nurses following authority opinion, as was previously the case, the caregiver now based his practice on scientific evidence, using research skills to collect and appraise her evidence. Tradition and hear-say are replaced by empirical findings that provide the basis of clinical decisions. Instead of being taught to do as was instructed, student nurses are now taught independent thinking and skills of reading, interpreting, and conducting research. With EBP, too, the nurses' knowledge is based on cross-disciplinary set of subjects that include psychological, biological research, and sociological evidence and that enable her to communicate knowledgeably with any professional in her, and related, fields. This is good not only for her esteem but also for the quality of her general practice. EBP, according Sackett (2009) is linked to five main ideas which are: That application of epidemiological, economic and biostatistical principles as well pathophysiology and personal experience be integrated in one's practice, That clinical and health-based decision should be formulated on the most authoritative evidence available. That the nature and source of the evidence should be linked to the congruent and applicable clinical population. That appraisal and review of the information be integrated in one's practice, and that, There should be consistent monitoring of one's performance. EBP to has its disadvantages. They include the following: Evidence-base d practice has been said to be a program that is not only time-consuming to implement but also takes certain skills to master it. Nonetheless, given its importance, this may be a questionable disadvantage since anything worthwhile is time-consuming. More significantly, Straus and McAlister (2000) claim that EBP lacks sufficient evidence to confirm its advantages as a nursing program / theory. It also reduces the client's choice in matter and form of treatment as well as other variables of treatment, aside from which EBP overlooks the client who has atypical needs and is different form the norm. (Research, generally deals with the norm). Evidence-based practice too suppresses creativity as well as suppressing autonomy since it enjoins nurse to follow scientific literature research rather than her own intuitions or higher judgment. Evidence-based practice too influenced legal proceedings whilst sometimes a more intuitionist approach may be needed. Finally, Straus and McAlister (2000) claim that EBP has its own hierarchies of research that it authorizes with some research that may be completely helpful and reliable, being buried at the bottom of the totem pole. At the end of the day, practitioners have to realize that they do not know everything and that for this reason they turn to scientific sources to help them. Recognizing their shortfalls and the shortfalls of literature research can also correct for some of the limitations of EBP.
