Some of my mutuals have talked about it and I saw posts about it here on Tumblr...

So I've finally decided to check out Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell! I waited about two months for it to finally come off hold on Libby, and there's a long line waiting for it (my library really needs more copies!)

This book looks long but the description caught my eye and I just had to read it.

I don't know if I'll finish it in 3 weeks but if I like it enough, I might just buy it to read the rest.

No spoilers, y'all! But I'll be open to discussing the story as I progress through it.

The thing that cuts Bentham deepest about not having access to the Panloopticon is that he had his parents’ graves linked up to it. If he had lived, he would have used that door.

Sometimes he longs to go and speak to them, even if the site is looped, and the foliage around had not moved in decades, and it does not quite feel like they are there. If not for guidance, because they weren’t quite equipped for that, then for any kind of comfort, an anchor. Maybe just so they may know how he’s grown, though they might not like the direction he’s taken.

He has not a picture in his endless collections of pictures, though in moments of desperation he searches and searches. He has not an heirloom or a single trinket, a locket, their father’s wedding ring (his was the only one that doesn’t lie on the seabed).

He sometimes curses his siblings for the very idea that they might have some token of them he has been deprived of. Any tether back to them.

He has so many faces preserved in his museum, and yet. The one face he wishes most to preserve in his own mind is his mother’s.

New job means the brain's been a' churning with code lately. Putting some cycles towards @renegadeguild this month-- signature order spine lines are (languishing) in review (as Draft) and I threw together a typeset assembly tool in hopes of finally (collaboratively) tackling the idea of a Renegade cookbook.

Launched in honor/anticipation of Edible Book Day (April 1st), the Renegade PDF Potluck tool is currently accepting entries. Currently only available to Renegade Bindery folks (thems on the Discord) -- you can find the link & info in the Event on the server.

Deadline for entries is tomorrow (Saturday, March 22nd 2024) @ midnight PST but seeing as only 2 entries have been submitted so far, might be extending that a bit.

felt like i was going crazy yesterday trying to set up a login system for this website 😭 it was like i was back in college again!

#im using supabase for auth and i was like someone pls...show me how to do this...with just vanilla js #every tutorial is with like react or next #im trying to do this site with just html css and js (and php)#so i can learn #and later if i wanna move things to a framework i wont be completely lost if something breaks!#but yea i pretty much settled on like using react for part of the website so i can get this login set up #i found some videos and articles so im pretty sure its possible #other options is to use the archived js example i finally found for supabase auth but #it scares me that its archived #fingers crossed next time i code this works #i think this has to be the hardest part of the coding #i wish i could do my own auth thing but thats super dangerous as a beginner #anyways if i get stuck again ill just try the archived js example #and if im still stuck...#idk find another auth thing to use ig #BF RALLY WILL HAPPEN IT WILL #if it doesnt it means i died or someshit lol #but yea im mainly just like ugh about react cause i seriously dont need all those libraries added rn #this sites not supposed to be that complicated imo like yea its dynamic but its like a neopets like thing #the partial react thing doesnt rely on installing a bunch of stuff (i think)#so maybe we r good #????#web development #webdev #coding #codebreakers #if someone has the magic video to hand hold me through these pls send lol
