Hi there! I was wondering: on the Libby app, there's the option on books you don't have yet to get notified if that book is ever added to the catalogue. When we hit that button, do you all get to see that as a way for us to "request" a book? Or should we still send in a formal request for the books through the form on your website?
This sounds so confusing, hopefully you understand what I'm trying to ask, but if not just say so and I'll try to explain more!
Thanks so much for all you do 🩷💞
We see those notify me tags! it definitely functions pretty similarly to the request form in the way of ‘someone wants us to have this in the library’ so we should put consider adding it to our wishlists.
one of the reasons we have the request form to start with is that we were asking people what they were interested in before we really launched - so before we we on Libby. now that we are, the notify me tags are pretty convenient in that they show us all at once how many people are interested in certain titles.
the only reason you’d really need/want to fill out the request form as well is if you have something you really want to say to add context to that request. for example, we’ve had authors say ’this is my book!’ but otherwise you really don’t have to do both.

I am 🌟 COLLECTING 🌟 library cards
Reminder that the Libby App (library app - has books, audio, graphic novels) let's you add multiple libraries, you just need your card number and pin, and when you search for materials will search all of the data bases you have access to! Making the chances of you getting the book (and quickly for example if one library has a wait-list for the book, another might not) much better!!!
Don't buy books from Audible/Amazon when you can use free public resources even if you can't leave your house! You can even apply for library cards online without going in and usually get a 30 day grace period before having to go in with a license/id for a permanent library card 💖💖💖

I like adding the LGBTQ+ option to my filter when I'm looking for a genere of book in the Libby app because I imagine myself walking up to a librarian with a mystery novel and going "excuse me, do you have this in gay"

Hello! 👋 I’m a cardholding member and a huge fan of your mission! Would you happen to have a newsletter I could sign up for, or a way to sign up for alerts when new books are added to the catalogue? Thanks for all you do!
Hello!! hell yeah we do. in the bottom left corner of each page of our website there’s a ‘stay in the loop’ box you can fill in your email to get our newsletters.
they come out once a month (wild circumstances aside, occasionally there might be a bonus newsletter) and usually give a breakdown of highlights from the past month + some key things coming down the pipe for next month. (our April one just came out yesterday! you can read it & find previous months newsletters here)
for more granular notifications of when a specific item may get added to our catalogue we recommend putting a ‘notify me’ tag on it! we see those on our end, and it is one of the factors that helps inform purchasing. if you put a notify me tag on a specific item, you’ll get a direct notification if/when we purchase it, and will have the chance to be one of the first in line to check it out!
