And here’s the concept/art for Lycan!

As for the in-betweens (I refer to the playlist songs quite a bit so I suggest having that open while reading these):

- When you first enter the Plant, you’re met with a pure Barracuda, who’s the one that hands Square the Triangle to purify Cube. Barracuda shows concern and points further into the Plant using the only thing they really can use- their eye. There’s a snippet of seeing Lycan slipping further into the area, then the camera returns to the three, where Square is then allowed to go through the area.

- As you travel through, you see plenty of plants being lonely/secluded, hiding and only perking out for a moment, or dancing very slow to follow the pace of the song Fall. Some of them are struggling with the corruption.

- After the song She Will Be Remembered, a large group of corrupted plants are startled by an opening metal door. They then attempt to get away from Square and their panicking results in parts of the Plant falling apart and causing danger to Square. (Cue Intense Theme.) The goal is to follow the plants as they go through multiple sets of split paths, where only one is correct.

- Ys Tension is a combination of the Volcano Elevator Scene and the Factory Blender Scene, where Square is attempting to dodge parts of the Plant falling apart on the top while continuously moving upwards to avoid Lycan, who’s giving chase at the bottom. At the end of the scene, Square ducks left and Lycan collides with the ceiling. It’s with them in a daze and a few bits of the Plant’s ceiling falling into place that allows Square to access the boss.

- After The Wolf, Lycan attempts to flee again, but ends up tripping on rubble and hits what would be the small and pure triangle that came from the completed level. There’s a somewhat painful scene showing how Any Form of Triangle being impaled into a shape can be disastrous, though Lycan’s instance is far less than that of Annihilate’s.

- The ending (which I will count as an in-between since it is between stages technically) is of Lycan finally being purified and the Factory’s Triangle FINALLY being received, so it’s a dance party with a bunch of plants and (Barracuda showing up joyously as well). Square exits by going left, meeting up with the rest of the crew, and heading to the Tower.

god yes this! this is why I love the JSAB fandom.

some stories are so unique! you have worlds set in modern times, worlds set in more pre-tech times, worlds that are some mix inbetween. fantasy, space, underwater. so many worlds! and the ways people interpret the story? the relationship with the characters? its so fun! I’ve seen stories where the square and boss are best friends and others where they have a more angry uncle and annoying nephew vibe. I have seen stories where the boss is also the orange circle. Every new blog and au brings something new to the table that you havent seen in another. And then you have blogs that ended up, by pure accident, doing the exact same thing. Me and like 2 other ended up writing a very similar story as eachother (we joke about it since we all made our aus like in the same month too). as you said Lycans are almost always some hyper animal and cudas are almost always cool and collected. 99% people associate the boss as punk rock and newgame as hyper with heels and spikes. its just amazing. we all looked at this silly game about shapes, and just by them alone associated them with themes and made whole ass worlds out of it.

Sorry but like its so insane that we are all out here like. Building rich and detailed fantasy worlds based on The Vibes of this game alone...I like how some ppl will fit the mechanics of the game intricately into their lore...I like how some ppl have extremely detailed concepts that are only vaguely related to the game and its mechanics. I REALLY LIKE how we all project our favorite villain tropes onto the boss/blixer/fresh etc. I like that everybody has wildly different interpretations of every character but also there are A LOT of common threads because we all get the same vibes sometimes. Psychically we are all connected. Like i've never seen an extroverted cube or a lycanthropy who is taller than the other bosses LOL (+ the fact we decided as a community that they are in fact a puppy dog or adjacent beast). I looooooove when ppl take these shapes and make smth completely new with them BUT I ALSO LOVE...WHEN WE ALL END UP MAKING THE SAME THING......
