“I'm sorry,” Juan babbles, panic rising once more. “I'm sorry I hurt you. I keep hurting you, and—” Gently, Lincoln cradles his friend’s face. He leans forward until their foreheads knocked together. Wan's rapid pulse beat against his fingertips, two-toned eyes wide with shock. “Juan, you're not hurting anyone. Just... stay with me. I won't let anything happen to you.”
- A Shadow's Lament

  relatives of Paula Contreras
wife of Juan Paulo Capili
Started as a gig inside their company, the Abe Abe Musikeros of Sutherland Global in Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga, have thought to create a charitable event for a cause. Having two colleagues stricken with cancer, they coordinated a rock festival with internal bands and guest bands performing on the event night.
An event they describe as, “for a cause, not for a applause”, drew a huge support with a full house inside the Barrel House Bar in Balibago, Angeles City.
In the midst of the gig, the relatives of the beneficiaries, Mr. Juan Paulo Capili and Paula Contreras had spoken and expressed their gratitude to the audience. Seats were all occupied and seemingly orders of foods and drinks came continuously, nevertheless, I observed that the crowd enjoyed the event.
The band that stared it all
The bands truly expressed their sheer talent with their own renditions of songs from the 80’s up to the current ones. I, myself, was amazed with the rock rendition of Hello by Adele performed by The Dirty Project Band. The vocalist truly had my attention.
Watching this event had a bit personal touch for me because I myself experienced first hand having my late mom battling stage 4 Breast Cancer and later had succumb to it. This is an event I would ever hardly forget.

i love this. messiest break up of the century. It's gonna be forever - or it's gonna go down in flames. given all the scenes of literally holding someone's heart in their hearts (ilw mc in one of the dreams, and then there's nate), i kinda wonder if these two will have a scene like that...

what if in this timeline, coping! wan has feelings for lincoln but he's repressing it REAL BAD bc he doesn't think he's good enough <///3 (and he has a mission to hunt down every monster)
so they're hardcore pushing the abelinc mcflint agenda because abel is everyone's type wonderful and has some kind of history with lincoln, so they're meant to be right?
then what if lincoln likes wan too, but he's pushing his feelings down because he ALSO thinks he's not good enough (and he's has a mission to hunt down his mother's killer.)
AND WHAT IF HE THINKS JUAN LIKES ABEL BECAUSE ABEL IS KIND AND AMAZING and he and juan get along so well
Tumblr media
(meanwhile abel is just sitting there, reading his book and wondering why these two are throwing lingering glances at each other every time he looks up from the page)

thinking about how wan and mattyass both have masks in the physical, emotional and subconscious sense.
first there's juan's make-up and matty's minor Illusion cantrip magics. then there's how mattyass prides himself on being able to hide behind a calm composure while wan dons on a smile and snarky remark to disguise the pain.
and then there's how mattyass' psyche tries to tuck his insecurity and guilt and shame under the mountainload of Justification and Egotism (ooh an interesting question is if hes lying about never forgiving himself - OR is he lying to himself about being a grand Puppet Master? someone who's finally made something of himself built on a throne of skull and bone. are you proud of that, little man with everything and nothing?)
in sharp contrast to wan, puppet of all puppets, who has sinks into their insecurities of being an out-of-control monster who hurts their loved ones
i think they both end up in toxic, self-defeating cycles where mattyass Bullshits justifies every sin under the sun as something that needs to be done as he wears his lil arrogant king of delusion crown... while wan ends up lashing out and pushing people away because they think they're so far below their loved ones
ultimately, however, wan is never alone. he has support from lia, abel, lincoln, joss and everyone else who's alive, and they have that connection that makes them want to do better and help others do better too.
and mattyass has no one but himself.

A Shadow's Lament [Queerplatonic Lincoln & Wan Angst]
Fandom: It Lives Within (visual novel) @itlivesproject 💜
Summary: “Maybe once this is all over, we can spend a day where I shut up and let you talk to me about your issues.” "Ha, don't know about that… but thanks for the offer.”
A training session turns emotional when Juan and Lincoln find it hard to let go of the past.
Characters | Ships: Lincoln McQuoid & Main Character | Lincoln McQuoid & Juan "Wan" Capili
Notes: CW for suicidal ideation, major survivor’s guilt, slight unintentional self harm, allusions to violence.
Set during the CH10 time-skip. I expanded on my sarcastic self-destructive low nerve mc & lincoln besties+ concept. hours of crying and pain later, here we are <3
tldr of the context: juan aka wan (they/he) is my mc on shadow path who hides their self-loathing with snark and a shitton of glossy lipgloss <3
---
Usually, combat training with Juan in the forest went something like this:
“Ugh, come on, Teach! Can't… you… stand… still!?”
Eyes still closed, Lincoln cocked his head to the left and narrowly avoided a flaming fist of Wan's fury. The sound of another, high-pitched shriek tugged Lincoln’s lips into a smirk.
“Focus, Juan. The monsters aren't going to stop trying to kill you if you say please.”
“Shuta ka, girl,” Juan deadpanned, even as another Lincoln swerved to the fight, yet another punch deflected. Power singed the space where he’d been; it flared in Juan’s tightly coiled fingers, pulsing to the beat of their frustration.
“Calling them a bitch isn’t gonna stop them eith—ow!” Lincoln’s eyes flew open at the small, sharp burst of pain on his nose. “Did you just flick me?”
“Yes. I might not be the best at controlling the Power, but do not underestimate the element of surprise,” Juan huffed. He leaned across a nearby tree trunk, wiping the sweat off his perfectly arched brow.

"You're not allowed to die, you hear?" Devon's eyes are fierce with desperation and despair. The empty room reeks with the loss of his friends, empty chairs and empty tables all around. Even your embrace feels the loss, as if another person was meant to fill the space in between your arms, the hollows of your hearts.
But you have each other, and that's what matters.
You hug him back just as tight, knowing that it may be the last time you'll see your friend, but hoping against hope you'll get to see him again--not with a smile blanketed in sorrow, but with a a genuine grin wrapped in joy.
"I'll try my best," you say, a promise, a prayer, a plea.
(You're not losing anyone today, least of all yourself).
