The Marble Courtyard at Versailles, the heart of King Louis XIII’s original château. It was fascinating to learn that the elaborate black and white tiles in the courtyard were taken from Nicolas Fouquet’s Vaux Le Vicomte. Was there anything King Louis XIV didn’t plunder from there? #versailles #palaceofversailles #chateaudeversailles #france #courdemabre #royalpalace #louisxiii #louisxiv #louisxv #louisxvi #thesunking #madamedepompadour #marieantoinette #classicalism #baroque #architecture #courtyard #royalcourt #palace #frenchhistory #unescoworldheritage #nicholasfouquet #louislevau #andrelenotre #charleslebrun #juleshardouinmansart #marble #sculpture #architect #architecturephotography (at Château de Versailles) https://www.instagram.com/p/CjDtt3koNJv/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Le Salon de la Paix (The Peace Drawing Room) The ‘Salon de la Paix’ and its counterpart, the ‘Salon de la Guerre’, are located on either end of the famous Hall of Mirrors of Versailles. Work on all three started in 1678; the Hall was finished in 1684, the two drawing rooms in 1686. The main theme of these three spaces was to celebrate the artistic, political, economic and military success of France. The War Drawing Room obviously has France’s victories in war as its theme. The Peace Drawing Room celebrates the peace brought to Europe by France. A rather odd theme as king Louis XIV (r. 1643-1715) was almost constantly at war with one or more countries during the last 45 years of his reign. The designs for the interiors were made by Jules Hardouin-Mansart (1646-1708) and Charles Le Brun (1619-1690). The oval shaped painting (photo 2) is from a later date: it was made by French painter François Lemoyne (1688-1737) in 1729 and depicts Louis XV offering peace to Europe. @chateauversailles #chateaudeversailles #châteaudeversailles #châteauversailles #chateauversailles #versailles #versaillespalace #palaceofversailles #palaceversailles #palace #salondelapaix #peacedrawingroom #peace #louisxiv #louisxv #interior #famous #interiordesign #17thcentury #hardouinmansart #juleshardouinmansart #charleslebrun #lebrun #marble #museum #art #17thcenturyinteriors #chandelier (bij Château de Versailles) https://www.instagram.com/p/CAAn7wvlp-l/?igshid=1bnx9xw3t5rl9

#AndreLeNotre #AndréLeNôtre #LouisXIV #DomaineNationalDeSaintCloud #baroque #SaintCloud #ParcDeSaintCloud #fountains #fountain #BassinDuFerACheval #JulesHardouinMansart #gardens #frenchGardens #architecture #France #Europe #17thCentury #gravityFountain #GrandesEaux #GrandesEauxDeSaintCloud (at Parc de Saint-Cloud)

Today I went to the Palace of Versailles. I live near Paris for 24 years and it's the 1st time i visit it TT It was a beautiful sunny and hot day, the perfect one to do so. It rained a little bit when we ate our sandwiches but not for long. 1st pic : Louis XIV (i cut his head on the previous pic XD) 2nd : Charles Le Brun (Louis XIV's 1st painter) 5th : Jules Hardouin-Mansart (architect) 9th : model king's bedroom

The Hotel de Sagonne, Paris. The hotel was constructed between 1667-1670 by Jules Hardouin-Mansart, King Louis XIV’s First Architect. In subsequent years it was enlarged and decorated to a grander scale to show off Mansart’s new social rank as the Count of Sagonne, following his enoblement by the King. The greatest painters and sculptors were commissioned to transform the hotel into something more befitting of a Count. The mansion passed through many hands over the generations until, in the 1980s, the first floor was occupied by the French designer Jacques Garcia. Today, due to its storied history and lush interiors, this splendid building is registered as a historical monument, though sadly it has been further divided into private apartments. ___________________________________________ Photograph via Jacques Garcia #hotelparticulier #paris #france #mansion #juleshardouinmansart #architecture #kinglouisxiv #interiors #historicbuildings #historicbuilding #monumentshistoriques #jacquesgarcia #designer #interiordesigner #decor #interior #interiordecor #interiordecorating #interiordecoration #interiordecorator #frenchdecorativearts #decorativearts #decorativeantiques #art #artworks #paintings #antiquefurniture #sculpture #decoration #chandelier (at Paris, France) https://www.instagram.com/p/CeEcAq2o5iu/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
