yesterday I was working on the command line and wrote out a command that, had I made the same typo I'd just made a couple minutes prior, would have deleted my entire /etc folder. I was already sudoed so there would have been no stopgap and my last backup was longer ago than I'd like to admit. I am very smart and good at things and can be trusted with superuser access on my own devices

as conceptually into Linux as I am, it is very funny watching pretty much anybody exploring Linux as a first time user because honestly I feel like that would put anybody off of using it for good. Even with how much more accessible Linux distros have gotten over even just the last 5 years or so, it is still such a nightmare for even someone with a decent bit of tech & troubleshooting experience under their belt

one thing about being in too much pain to uphold social niceties (period and it's a bad one) is that i did spend all day at work not only doubled over and moving at a pace the ninety year old library ladies were lapping but i was even worse than usual at tasks like Looking At People Who Are Chewing Gum and "not edging away bugeyed when a coworker stands close next to me" and of course the perennial favorite "keeping track of more than three words spoken to me in a row and responding to that" and we'll let me merely say. it is just me and that murderbot. nobody else in this whole damn library understands

well, the art for fallin down with the punkish lens may have to wait a bit.. frankly, anzu has had a hard time coming up with an idea of a composition for it.. but besides that, anzu has been having major issues with anzu's laptop. anzu draws on a phone so its not stopping this, however it does stress anzu out a lot

ooh it occurs to me i can ask the gay people in my phone about this one: anyone have any recommendations for types of linux? im building my first pc and im going to make the switch while im at it. im thinking just mint (ciiiinnamon? probably? honestly i don't like the MATE ui as much so if i do mint it's either cinnamon or xfce) but i feel like people have strong opinions on the subject

So uh. I have a Raspberry Pi 5 running MX Linux now.

I barely even knew what Linux was before I got the Pi. I haven't touched my Windows machine for the past couple days. I've just been browsing the web and installing crap on my Pi.

And now it's ready to be my primary coding and writing machine. Which means I'm going to be using it even more.

Does this mean I'm officially a nerd now? As if I wasn't already.

having an odd issue where it seems my computer (Linux Mint 22 OS) restarts during usage of some things due to memory usage, though thats just my best guess, despite me not having that option enabled. Notably I can't use Heroforge in my browser or play Minecraft for more than a few minutes or worse seconds without it restarting. Does, anyone know what could be wrong? Does anyone following me use Linux? Searching online is, daunting, and most people have been unhelpful/mean
