‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Vets Ellen Pompeo, Katherine Heigl & More Reunite at 2024 Emmys

It was a beautiful day at the 2024 primetime Emmy Awards for a "Grey’s Anatomy" reunion! Ellen Pompeo, Katherine Heigl, Chandra Wilson, Justin Chambers and James Pickens Jr. presented the award for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series at the Jan. 15 show. The long-running medical drama's iconic vets also shared memories from its two-decade run, with Katherine, who left the show in 2010, giving a slight nod to her own rocky history with "Grey's." The fan-favorite drama isn't the only legendary series reuniting its cast! In honor of the Emmys' 75th anniversary, more shows including “The Sopranos,” “Martin” and more welcomed multiple alums to television's biggest night.

For Kelsey Grammer, politics and work apparently don’t mix well.

The “Frasier” star opened up about his political views, namely his support for former President Donald Trump, during a Monday interview on BBC Radio 4’s “Today” show.

After referencing actress-comedienne and Trump supporter Roseanne Barr earlier in the interview, Grammer was asked by host Justin Webb if he was still a supporter of the former president.

“I am,” Grammer said. “And I’ll let that be the end of it.”

But according to Webb, that wasn’t the end of it.

The BBC host revealed after the interview aired that Grammer had no issue discussing his support of Trump, but PR representatives from Paramount+ (which streams the “Frasier” revival) allegedly cut the interview short, according to a clip of Webb’s post-interview comments shared by Mediaite.

“I have to say, actually, Kelsey Grammer himself was perfectly happy to go on talking about it,” Webb said. “The Paramount+ PR people, less happy that he talked about it at some length so we… They decided that we’d had plenty of time for our interview. But I should stress that he was absolutely perfectly happy to talk about why he supports Donald Trump and still does in the coming election.”

USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Grammer and Paramount+ for comment.

Grammer revived his iconic Dr. Frasier Crane character when the "Frasier" sitcom returned for a reboot in October. Dr. Crane first appeared as the preppy, obnoxious boyfriend to Diane Chambers (Shelley Long) in the Season 3 "Cheers" premiere in September 1984, turning a bit part into an indelible nine-season role.

"We knew from the first five lines that this guy was amazing because he could compete with the stellar 'Cheers' cast," James Burrows, “Frasier” director and “Cheers” co-creator, told USA TODAY in October. "Frasier was only written for a short character arc. But after the first show, we said, 'My God, we've got to keep this guy on.' We would have been blind not to see it."

I love izzex too and would love to hear what you love best about them, why you think they're compatible despite/because of their personality differences, and a few of your favorite Izzex moments :) Only if you feel like answering, of course!

Hey! Thank you so much for this ask, any chance to talk about one of my favorite couples is always welcome.

I think what makes Alex and Izzie compatible is mostly the fact they're not similar - or at least they don't appear to be, because they both would go lenghts for the people they care about, for instance.

I've always been a sucker of the opposites attract type of couples, so I jumped right on the ship as soon as I started watching (season 2 was over and I already knew what had happened between them, sort of) and to me this is exactly what makes them work. They complete one another, like two pieces of a puzzle, and both bring out the best in the other, while also attenuating some of the not so positive sides of the other (Izzie makes Alex sweeter and lessens his jerk facade, while he challenges her and brings her out of her perfect princess comfort zone and also makes her more confident and willing to stand up in front of others in a couple of occasions).

I wouldn't know how to explain it better, there's just something about them that has always captivated me (the chemistry between Katherine Heigl and Justin Chambers definitely helped a lot).

Onto my favorite moments of them...there's so many!! Needless to say, their wedding and then of course their first kiss, which was so perfect and cinematic! Sigh, it's still one of my favorite first kisses on TV ever.

I also loved how Alex comforted Izzie after Denny's death in 2x27 (that moment is still iconic): he's always had a particular and unique sweetness when it comes to her, which is one of the aspects I love the most about Izzex.

How could I not mention their confrontation in 6x01? "I can't lose you, I won't survive" and the vulnerability in Justin/Alex's voice never fails to make me emotional.

Others are the very sweet and supportive moment in early season 3, when Alex puts his jacket on Izzie's shoulders after she's been outside the hospital all day long, panicking. And when he says 'Hello' to her, in early season 6, after encouraging a patient at doing the same thing with the woman he liked - a sign that things could start again for Alex and Izzie.

Before this gets too long (lol), I got to mention Izzie telling Alex (maybe in 3x18?) that the fact she didn't want him doesn't mean she's okay with someone else (Addison, in this case) wanting him - my heart! Early season 2, when they're just friends, is also an amazing time for them (when they laugh together and George, Meredith and Cristina watch them perplexed from afar? Priceless!) and, last but not least, their kiss in the storage room in season 2 (I don't remember if it was the episode of the bomb), so sweet.

This came out waaay longer than I intended lol, but I hope I've answered your question satisfactorily. ☺️

"It wasn't about us, it was about expelling the voices of those young people, expelling a movement," the former Tennessee state lawmaker said. "They've done the opposite."

Former Tennessee State Rep. Justin Jones said Friday that he intends to challenge his expulsion in the courts and at the ballot box amid uncertainty about the path ahead for him and fellow removed Rep. Justin Pearson, whose decision to stand in solidarity with constituents protesting the scourge of gun violence drew national attention and praise.

In an appearance on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," Jones said he believes his expulsion Thursday at the hands of Tennessee House Republicans was "unconstitutional" and that he's exploring legal action.

The Nashville Democrat also said he'll be watching the proceedings of his city's 40-seat Metro Council, which is scheduled to meet on Monday to decide on who will fill the vacancy left by Jones' expulsion until a special election for the seat is held.

Jones is eligible to run in the special election, whether or not he's reappointed by the Metro Council.

While more than a dozen members of the Nashville council have said they would support reappointing Jones, the lawmaker said Friday that it's unclear whether the Republican-dominated Tennessee House would agree to seat him.

"We've heard from the other side that they may not seat us, even if our council appoints us, even if we win a special election," Jones said. "Then we'll see another affront to democracy."

The Memphis City Council is also expected to hold a special meeting in the coming days to determine how to fill the vacancy left by Pearson's expulsion. One commissioner, Miska Clay Bibbs, said Thursday that "when given the opportunity, I will support returning [Pearson] to his seat."

Like Jones, Pearson is also eligible to run in the coming special election for his old seat.

During his MSNBC appearance Friday, Jones said he hopes people across the U.S. are paying attention to developments in his home state because "if it can happen in Tennessee, it can happen anywhere."

Whatever the near future holds for Jones and Pearson in the Tennessee Legislature, the young lawmakers' bold stand for action against gun violence and outspoken opposition to the state GOP's political retaliation made them instant icons in a burgeoning national movement born out of deadly mass shootings like the one that left three children dead in Nashville last week.

"I've gotten to do a little bit of organizing with Justin Pearson, who was just expelled by the Tennessee House. Let me say: he will go farther and do more good than any of the people remaining in that chamber," environmentalist Bill McKibben wrote following Thursday's vote. "You ding-dongs have just launched a rocket."

As Jones put it on Friday: "It wasn't about us, it was about expelling the voices of those young people, expelling a movement. They've done the opposite."

Jones' campaign operation sprung into immediate action following his removal.The Tennesseanreported that while "members of the Legislature are not allowed to fundraise during the legislative session," Jones reactivated his campaign fundraising site "within hours of his expulsion."

If Jones and/or Pearson are reelected and seated, they cannot be expelled again for the same offense, The Tennessean noted. The approved expulsion resolutions accused the two lawmakers of bringing "disorder and dishonor" to the House.

"They're going to do what they do," Pearson said of the Tennessee House's Republican majority ahead of Thursday's expulsion votes. "We have to keep fighting. If we never quit, we never lose."

"They want you to stop clapping, they want you to stop marching, they want you to stop protesting, they want you to stop saying that kids' lives matter, they want you to stop saying that we need to end the gun violence epidemic," Pearson continued. "But what we have to prove by our consistent and persistent effort on this issue is that Tennessee can be a better place than it currently is, and you shouldn't have to be afraid to go to school or go to the grocery store."

Quick Brooksville, Florida History Brooksville, Florida was originally known as Melendez and then Benton. Incorporated in 1856, it is a wonderful city featuring a hilly terrain that ranges in elevation from 175 to 274 feet. There is a long history of successful planters, growers, and cattlemen in and around Brooksville. Its southern background is reflected in its name, honoring South Carolina Congressman Preston Brooks who is best noted for hitting abolitionist Senator Charles Sumner on the head with his cane. Brooksville's downtown area features the iconic Hernando Courthouse, along with great shopping in unique stores featuring everything from antiques, outfits, high-end resale, stationery, flowers and bric-a-brac to formal gowns – and stationery. Some streets still show the Augusta bricks laid by hand. Florida Wildlife Corridor Foundation mural painted by Justin Alsedek is on Brooksville's City Hall building, which houses a free art gallery upstairs. Things to Do in Brooksville, Florida There are several downtown restaurants and coffee shops, along with legal and banking offices, a library, and more than one park. Brooksville has been working hard to revive its downtown to attract more visitors and became a Florida Main Street community in 2016. For those looking for things to do in Brooksville, the Main Street organization holds several events in Brooksville's downtown area as well as farmers and artist markets, and a simply magical holiday celebration of all things Christmas during December with everything from musical trees to performing artists, decorations galore and horse-drawn carriage rides.  Local art is displayed in several downtown businesses and buildings, as well as murals painted throughout the downtown area. Historic homes are throughout the downtown area and a tour has been mapped out. There are two B & Bs, including this one, known as the Mirador. Another popular thing to do in Brooksville, Florida, is to visit the May Stringer Museum, located at 600 West Jefferson. Housed in the 1850 Stringer House, a Queen Anne masterpiece with a four-story tower, this historic building is reputed to be haunted. There are daily tours Tuesday - Saturday led by docents and the price of admission is only $10 for adults, $5 for children, free for those under 6 years of age, but the exhibits seem more adult-friendly. F. L. Stringer was a State Senator and judge. With thousands of historic artifacts and regular tours, it commemorates the Civil War era and provides a glimpse at the lifestyle and relics of a gone but not forgotten segment of American history. Ghost tours are held on Friday and Saturday nights by reservation. The May Stringer House houses a historical museum that is well worth a tour in Brooksville. It is said to be haunted. In addition to the May Stringer house there is a historic train depot to visit. Next to the historic train depot museum is a one-room schoolhouse to visit on Russell Street. Both of these museums are adjacent to Russell Street Park which has the Good Neighbor Trail running through it. The Good Neighbor Trail is a paved, multiuse trail that runs about 10.3 miles to connect with the Withlacoochee State Trail. Continue east to find another wonderful shopping area, featuring the Hawkins House and the Florida Cracker Trading Company and Tap Room. There is even an old-fashioned Coney Island where it is rumored that Elvis Presley may have eaten many years ago with an ice cream shop in front. The Florida Mermaid Trail In 2020, a Mermaid Trail was created in downtown Brooksville, which is part treasure hunt and part walking tour. It is an easy activity for one or more to get out and enjoy the historic brick streets and well-kept homes and businesses. Each February, a Mermaid Festival is held in Hernando Park, where residents and visitors compete for the best-dressed mermaids, with and without their pets, and meet the real mermaids of Weeki Wachee Springs State Park. The maps for the Mermaid Trail can be found at Florida's Adventure Coast Visitor Center, adjacent to the park. Expanding Beyond Brooksville’s City Limits You may want to travel north on US 41 to visit the historic Chinsegut Hill Historic Site and rediscover the magic that caused its last private owners to name it Chinsegut, meaning, “a place where lost things are found.” Learn their story of courage and civil rights for all, as well as a historic timeline of occupation during significant national events. And it's beautiful and somewhat magical. *Please note that Chinsegut Hill Museum is managed by the Tampa Bay History Center and is open on weekends for tours, as well as some outdoor events on select weekdays. An Emancipation Celebration is held in May. Originally constructed in the early 1800s, and then added onto by subsequent owners, the Chinsegut Manor House was renovated in 2013-2014 and has been restored to the splendor of its glory days. Image by Diane Bedard. Don't forget the Ice Cream Head back south on U.S. 41 and then travel east on S.R. 50/U.S. 98. Make a right on Spring Lake Highway (541) and follow it to the top of the hill. On the right is Boyett’s Grove Citrus and Timeless Attraction. Here you will find a wonderful animal park where you can feed the animals, a dinosaur cave, taxidermy museum, birds, snakes, an alligator named, "Elvis", and more. A putt-putt golf course winds through part of this fun-filled tourist trap. There’s even a snack bar, ice cream parlor, and an old-fashioned Florida gift shop! I think Jack could've been like the Alex of s19. The characters themselves are similar. Rough childhoods, sleeps around alot and then learns and grows and develops. Except Alex was so well written, I mean it was prime greys, and jack is just annoying and in the way. Also justin chambers is a great actor..grey just isn't.

I could see it if that's what they were trying to do...however, it definitely failed lol. Though I wouldn't be surprised if the S19 writers actually think Jack is the Karev of the show and that's why they're so obsessed with him and force him on us so much. But yeah...Jack will never be as iconic as Karev was for many reasons.
