I haven't seen anyone talk about this, so I'm going to. Because I love it for a variety of reasons. Camp Cretaceous spoilers ahead for anyone who hasn't finished the series yet.

I love it. Because not only is Sammy introducing her girlfriend Yaz, and Yaz introducing her girlfriend to their parents.

Y'all. Yaz had her bisexual awakening on the Island.

This, right here, is also Yaz coming out to her mom with no hesitation.

I love all of the little touches they put into this show like the fact that Yaz looks upset when Darius mentions Sammy running into a BRAD in the sewers, the concern she has for Sammy's safety and well-being is so prevalent that it shows up in her micro-expressions and body language

Given Sammy's propensity for finding trouble (and that they just recently got separated in the sewers), it makes sense that Yaz would be worried about and go looking for Sammy when she disappears in the service tunnels between biomes, Yaz knows there are lots of potential dangers on the island she wants to have Sammy's back no matter what comes so she rushes to find her, lucky for her it was just Sammy goofing, the relief and love that fills her expression the second she realizes that Sammy is fine are so sweet, as is the little bit of banter they have in that scene

When the door closes between them Yaz's first thought is that the others are testing the door and she is playfully annoyed at them because that's a situation that can easily be solved, Yaz is a problem solver by nature, when she is invested in someone or something she will usually try to problem solve so calling out the others is the natural first step for her, it is only when Darius says they didn't mess with the doors that Yaz goes for the less logical option of trying to pry the door open because now there is a very real chance that Sammy is actually trapped on the other side and they'll be separated again, Yaz has come a long way with her fear of abandonment and loss but in these life-or-death situations she is still terrified of losing Sammy (which, honestly, isn't an unhealthy reaction anymore, anyone would be terrified of someone they care about dying in a real life-or-death situation) so she musters all her strength to pull the door open because she almost lost Sammy before and she has made it her personal mission to keep Sammy alive

Also, can we talk about the way Sammy falls right into Yaz's arms after the door opens and clings to her as she says, "Thanks"? Adorable!

I love how hopeful Yaz looks when Sammy starts talking to her in the sewer, her face just screams, "Is this is? Is she going to say she has feelings for me?" and I love how she just rolls with the humor of the situation when it turns out Sammy wants to talk about the smell, she's probably a little disappointed that it wasn't the conversation she thought it would be (because I think that at this point she is hopeful Sammy will feel the same way) but she is still enjoying Sammy's company and their conversations (even if those conversations about about gross smells)

I love the way Sammy catches Yaz after the nothosaurus jump-scared her, Sammy wants to be there for Yaz just as much as Yaz wants to be there for Sammy, Sammy also puts her arm around Yaz first when they are getting ready to take the nothosaurus up in the lift and Yaz gives her this loving look that morphs into a conflicted/thoughtful look (which Ben picks up on) because part of her is definitely saying, "Tell her already!" and the other part is saying, "Is it the right time?" but, like she tells Sammy, there are no perfect times, we see this inner struggle continue to play out as they ride the lift in silence but one look at Sammy's face gives Yaz the push she needs to finally tell her

Side note: Ben's reaction when he realizes Yaz is about to confess to Sammy is so wholesome and sweet, A+ sibling vibes

I've said before that Yaz has historically had a hard time with opening up about herself and her feelings, she starts out the series with a fear of vulnerability so it is incredible to see her opening up to Sammy about something that is clearly very nerve-wracking to her, I think on some level she trusts Sammy not to judge her (which shows a lot of character growth and points to how much she's been working on her trust issues) but telling someone you have feelings for them is still really scary and we can tell that Yaz is scared by the fact that she is rambling and stammering and has nervous body language, part of her is still scared of rejection so when she looks up to see Sammy with a shocked/fearful expression Yaz's heart drops because she is now overtaken by the voice of doubt: What if Sammy hates her now? What if Sammy thinks her feelings are gross or wrong? What if Sammy doesn't want to be around her anymore because things are weird now?

Fortunately, Sammy swoops in and knocks that train of thought right off its tracks (and Yaz right off her feet) as she saves Yaz from being eaten by the nothosaurus, Sammy supports Yaz and helps her stand back up and when it becomes clear that the nothosaurus is going after Sammy again Yaz leaps into action without a second thought, grabbing the damn thing by the tail so it can't reach Sammy, Yaz will always prioritize Sammy's safety over any hurt feelings (or often her own safety) but in this scene I think Yaz really gets confronted with the fact that Sammy feels exactly the same way about Yaz's safety because she jumps onto the nothosaurus' back without skipping a beat

I love how Sammy bring the conversation back once they're safe, she's well aware of what Yaz was trying to tell her but they were interrupted before and I headcanon that she wants to give Yaz a do-over

I talked before about how Sammy knows that Yaz has a hard time with feelings and might need some extra time to sort things out so I always headcanoned that Sammy would wait for Yaz to confess to her first and Sammy confirms that's exactly what she was doing, which is a very smart move honestly because if Sammy had made a move too early then Yaz would have reacted badly because, like Yaz told Ben when they were talking about Firecracker, Yaz needs to do things at her own pace to feel comfortable and I think it's really sweet that Sammy realized and respected that without Yaz having to say a word about it

That first kiss has been living rent-free in my head and I will probably never shut up about it, a literal gay squeal of glee from the very depths of my soul escaped me and murdered my roommate's ears when that happened, I also can't stop thinking about all of the camp fam reactions to Yas and Sammy getting together

Okay, I haven’t even seen season five, but I’ve seen the official post about (asexual) benrius. Many people are abandoning hope, but as a person that’s on the aroace spectrum and still feels some romantic attraction(little, but there’s some) asexual does definitely not mean aroace. It’s called the ace spectrum for a reason. So for the people happy about ace rep, I am too! Heck yeah, I’ve had that headcanon about them for a while. For the people disappointed about benrius never being a possibility, slow down! Asexual does not mean they can’t have a partnership. It might just look a little different than what the allo people in the fandom thought it was. They can still hold hands and love each other, whether it’s romantic or platonic, so, in my opinion, neither group is technically “wrong” in this situation. Saying that they’re “ace” is a broad term, so people can believe what they want. If you want them to be a couple, go ahead!! Write that fic, and maybe do some research on asexuality on the meanwhile, because asexual people in romantic relationships is not really talked about in pop culture.(feel free to ask me questions if you want!) And for people on the other end of beliefs that think it’s aphobic to still ship them, it really isn’t in my personal opinion(of course, let me know politely if your opinion differs). It is quite exciting to see people finally think of sexual attraction/romantic attraction as a spectrum!

WARNING JWCC S5 SPOILERS:

I Just sat down and watched the entirety of season 5 Jwcc. I am so happy the campers still see each other after Camp Cretaceous. And Ben has long hair! We also saw Yazmina with her hair down!(Ive wanted that since season 2) I literally screamed when Brooklyn and Kenji Kissed, though my family wasn’t too fond of the Yazsammy kiss. I absolutely loved the season and I still can’t believe Kash died. I also officially hate Kenji’s dad for all he’s put his son and the campers through. It’s like…no he doesn’t care about Kenji at all period in my opinion at least. That was so sad for me I wanted more real love to be shown towards Kenji by his father. I get that the campers are his real family but I was so hoping all the parents would be happy for ALL their kids returning home alive. But Darius and Kenji are brothers WAHOO I love their relationship it was so heartwarming to me. It was nice to meet the “Nublar six’ parents finally! Pretty much all my ships became canon I am so happy for them and I’m so happy the kids are finally home and safe. We didn’t see many Ben and Darius parent moments for firecracker. That’s sort of disappointing but I like that the baby Dino’s were at least there. Fantastic season really. This post was supposed to be only a few sentences long but it turned into a full review. Thanks to anyone who read all this.

Alright, just finished Camp Cretaceous S5 omg I have so many nice feelings right now.

First of all, holy cow this is the most emotional season, I felt like crying about 5 times and actually cried another 5.

Loooooved the time skip at the end, everyone became the adults they needed when they were kids.

Kenji! My boy! You just wanted to be loved and in the end you got what you deserved<3

Also, is it just me or is there a problem with the time lapse between Jurassic World, Fallen Kingdom, and Camp Cretaceous? Like, doing some research I found that supposedly 3/4 years passed between Jurassic World and Fallen Kingdom, which corresponds to S1 and S3 of JWCC, buuuut I remember in the series it is mentioned that only six months have passed (the helicopter lady who was unalived like two seconds later said it) so I'm confused :(

Can anybody explain this pls?

I'm back with the clips from the long-awaited season 5 so let's get into it!

I love the fact that, once the camp fam is (seemingly) safe and well-fed in Kon's investor suites, Yaz starts to relax and talk about going to sleep, she looks directly at Sammy as she says that she's going to bed because Sammy has been her main source of comfort and calm and as such Sammy is inextricably linked with relaxation, calm, and comfort in Yaz's mind, Yaz wants to share her feeling of relief and safety with her favorite person, which Sammy is quick to respond to with excitement

I think it's really cute that Yaz and Sammy both snuck out at the same time to go sleep in the common room, their conversation in this scene is a subtle reminder that they have all been through some really traumatic things, Sammy says she's not used to sleeping alone anymore and Yaz agrees that it doesn't feel safe, all of the kids have this shared trauma but Yaz and Sammy most often go to each other to talk about their own personal trauma, and then there's the sweet moment where Sammy is offering to have a sleepover with Yaz so they can both be more comfortable (before they realize the others had the same idea) that I love, it's very clear that Sammy cares a lot about Yaz's comfort and safety and spending time with her

Yaz and Sammy chilling together and playing cards while everyone's running around doing their own thing? Adorable!

Also, remember in part 5 of this post series when I said that Yaz was funneling her energy into helping Kenji with Brooklyn so she wouldn't have to think about her feelings for Sammy? Well now they're both doing it! Seriously, Yaz and Sammy are both such hopeless romantic dorks and, while I think they are genuinely happy about Kenji and Brooklyn being together, they really throw themselves into this whole date planning thing because they both have all of this pent-up romantic energy that isn't going anywhere because Yaz is in the throws of processing her queerness and Sammy is clearly holding herself back until Yaz is ready so she doesn't freak Yaz out (I'll talk more about that in later posts), which means that setting up and focusing on Kenji's date with Brooklyn is a welcome distraction for both of them

Can we talk about the physical affection for a second? Yaz and Sammy are, like, constantly touching each other's arms and hands or doing little shoulder nudges like Yaz does when Kenji compliments their decorations, they already look like a couple when they come up to Kenji and Yaz starts talking about "seeing new sides" to Kenji, Sammy is holding her arm with both hands, talk about dropping hints! They also physically check on and comfort each other all the time, like when Yaz falls from Ben's shoulders or when the earthquakes start and they pterodactyls get upset

They are also clearly first in each other's thoughts because when Yaz realizes that two of them have gone missing she lists Sammy first and when Sammy and Darius are looking for the others Sammy calls out to Yaz first, which makes sense because they are both very important to each other and I think they've been spending a LOT of time thinking about each other lately

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Yaz is a real ride or die! She didn't think twice about grabbing a stray pipe and ambushing a fucking nothosaurus to protect Sammy (more on this general vibe in future posts)

Yaz and Sammy jumping at the chance to be on the same team for the chip mission is super cute and the back-and-forth and banter they have going on the whole time gives me life, Yaz's face when Sammy asks why they're hiding if there no one for the BRADs to notify and they aren't lethal is priceless, it just screams, "You are so smart," it's the mutual respect and admiration for me

I'd like to take a second to appreciate the romantic golden hour lighting they put on during the scene where Yaz is admiring the forest and Sammy says maybe they could go to a real forest some time, this conversation feels very much like a metaphor for their relationship, here they are mutually enjoying their current situation, Yaz thinking about how it would be even better if circumstances were different, and Sammy implying that those more ideal circumstances are in their future, this comes at a point when Yaz is starting to wish that she could be even closer to Sammy whereas Sammy has clearly been thinking about having a closer relationship with Yaz for a long time

Both in this scene and in the campfire scene we see that Sammy won't let Yaz put herself down (a habit Yaz is still clearly working on breaking) and gazing lovingly at Yaz as she speaks, Sammy is really trying to drop some hints for Yaz that she is very interested in her
