I just had a thought, if the situation was reversed for the 'Kellabor rains' story (Kanai finding an orphaned human child), I feel like it wouldn't end as well for them

Kanai have strict rules about not killing creatures that are too young, and on top of that a human child doesn't pose much threat. Finding a hunter on your territory too close to your den is one thing. Finding a sad helpless baby human abandoned in the woods is a different matter entirely.

I doubt most Kanai could bring themselves to hurt a human child, no matter how little they think of humans. They would at least escort a baby to the nearest human settlement.
