PDP should blame itself if it loses governorship election in Kaduna
Tumblr media
A former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National legal adviser, Mark Jacob, has said the party should blame itself if it loses the 2023 governorship election in Kaduna State because the campaign has already been concluded in the state by the actions and negligence of the ruling APC. He said the issue of insecurity in the state and unending religious and tribal clashes were enough reasons to disqualify the ruling All Progressives Congress from the election. The former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in the state said it was possible to end the wanton killing in Kaduna if the government does the right thing, insisting that the government has at its disposal the instrument of coercion and is protected by law. ”There is a singular issue that matters and that is the security of lives and property. Kaduna State has been ravaged, the state has never heard this experience, we have never seen it even during the civil war. Yes there has been a religious crisis in the past here and there but with the number of human beings that have been gruesomely murdered, we are not talking of a situation where people are fighting each other no, we are talking of where citizens sleeping in their homes are rounded up and killed. “Now someone may ask, how is it an APC problem? Are they the ones that are killing the people and l said very bluntly, that the responsibility and the primary function of the government is to provide security of lives and properties of the people.” ”It is only the government that is protected and given the right to use force to protect citizens or for any purpose. ”Today, we have seen a situation where the government of Nigeria, particularly, Kaduna State principally from the year 2016, 2017, 2018 to date that the killings started in the era of this government and government treated everything with light mindset purposely because the killings were happening in the Southern part of the state.” He alleged that the approach of the government was a sorry, embarrassing, undemocratic way of addressing things, saying, “everybody knows and the records are there for everybody to see that the government of Kaduna State was hostile to the victims, the government failed and said it was the victims that were responsible for the killings.” He added, “We have it on record where the governor and officials of government will say that Churches, Church leaders and traditional rulers are behind the killings in Southern Kaduna. People in government bluntly and cruelly said so and even vowed to deal with all the Church leaders.” The former National legal adviser to the party noted that it is sad to listen to the ways government approaches these issues, stressing that the government felt very comforted in telling people stories and by telling the whole world think that the killings in Southern Kaduna were largely reprisals from the so-called killing of foreign Fulanis in 2011. Barrister Mark Jacob explained, “We were in the city in 2011 when the crisis broke out, it was not a Southern Kaduna issue, it was started here in the city when aggrieved persons who lost the 2011 presidential election went out armed with guns and cutlasses and targeted all persons they perceived to be PDP members or followers and it spread from Kaduna North and Kaduna South and to other parts of the state and people were killed, properties were destroyed. It continued for two days in Kaduna and other northern cities. ”Southern Kaduna communities also joined in the protest and started burning and looting people’s properties, an area that is predominantly a PDP area. That was what also caused the problem in the Southern Kaduna because the minorities also perceived that they lost the election and because the massive followers of the PDP had surprisingly launched attacks against the majority and that was when people in Southern Kaduna also reacted.” Speaking on the urban renewal in parts of the state, he noted that unless one is alive and safe, the renewal makes no meaning. He lamented that the state is witnessing kidnapping and all forms of insecurity thereby making citizens uncomfortable to carry out their daily activities and earn a living. He said, “Nigerians have stopped asking for economic emancipation, they have stopped asking for growth in their businesses, Nigerians just want to stay alive and if PDP knows what it is doing, it should just articulate one agenda to restore Nigerians to peace and safety.” Read the full article

The Nok culture (or Nok civilization) is a population whose material remains are named after the Ham village of Nok in Kaduna State of Nigeria, where their terracotta sculptures were first discovered in 1928. The Nok Culture appeared in Nigeria around 1500 BC and vanished under unknown circumstances around 500 AD, having lasted approximately 2,000 years. Iron use in smelting and forging tools, appears in Nok culture by at least 550 BC and possibly a few centuries earlier.bData from historical linguistics suggest that iron smelting was independently discovered in the region by 1000 BC. Scientific field work began in 2005 to systematically investigate Nok archaeological sites and to better understand Nok terracotta sculptures within their Iron Age archaeological context. Kano Thugs Disrupt PDP North West Congress In Kaduna
Tumblr media
The PDP Northwest Zonal Congress held in Kaduna on Saturday was  abruptly disrupted by thugs The Congress which took place at the International Trade Fair Complex in the Kaduna State capital was graced by PDP chieftains like Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, and a former National Caretaker Chairman of the party, Senator Ahmed Makarfi. The congress was disrupted by thugs midway into the voting process by delegates from the seven states of the northwest region to elect their zonal chairman and other executive members. The Chairman of the Media Sub-Committee of the congress, Abdulrahman Usman, told the press that the fracas was caused by delegates from Kano State over who would emerge as the PDP chairman in the zone. He explained that as soon as the exercise was disrupted, congress was put on hold to avoid further escalation of the crisis. Usman, however, said that the leaders of the party would meet to address all pending issues before fixing a new date for the zonal congress.   Read the full article

Is Persecution Inevitable as Several Christians were murdered for their Faith
Tumblr media
Is Christian persecution inevitable? This year has marked serious Christian persecution all around the world, as we witness countries like China, Afghanistan, Algeria, India and Iran all facing a similar problem. Well, the Western side of African is not excepted from this serious issue. Nigeria currently being one of the centres of Christian persecution. According to CBN News, 33 Christians in five Christian communities were murdered by Islamic extremists in southern Kaduna state of Nigeria over a two-day period. It is being reported that 4 additional Christians were killed in Kachia County on August 17 while their driver Danlami Dariya, was kidnapped. This horrific violence was done by Muslim Fulani Militants, among those killed are three men and an old woman. Some Islamic extremists also attacked Kachia County's Bugai village on 16th August. These attacks by these Fulani Militants isn't something new. Many people were killed in Kaduna state, predominantly Christians. As these attacks grow on them, many have flew from their houses and left their farms to live elsewhere to continue living their lives peaceful. However, some Fulani herdsmen disagree with these Islamic extremists ideology to hunt and killed followers of Christ. The question is that, Muhammadu Buhari, the president of Nigeria who is attributed as a Fulani in support of these Islamic extremists and why is it that nothing has being done about it. 'STEADILY BEING TRANSFORMED INTO KILLING FIELDS: 10 KILLED IN HORRENDOUS ATTACK ON CHRISTIAN VILLAGE IN NORTHWEST #NIGERIA Islamic #militants in Nigeria are continuing their murderous attacks against #Christian villages. Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) reports 10 people, including a three-year-old girl, were killed in an attack by Fulani militants last week in Tudun Agwalla community in #Kajuru, #KadunaState located in northwest Nigeria. The toddler, Elizabeth Samaila, suffered multiple machete cuts to the head and died on June 4, the day after the early morning attack on the village. Nine others were hacked to death with machetes. Six were identified as Richard Yusuf, Kefas Yusuf, Fidelis Wada, Kachia, Genesis Soja, and Rahab Soja. They were buried in a mass grave. The attack on Tudun Agwalla is the latest in a series of coordinated armed assaults on Christian communities in southern Kaduna state by Fulani militia, according to CSW. The attacks against Christians continue despite the Nigerian government's decree of a COVID-19 lockdown on March 25. CSW's Chief Executive Mervyn Thomas said: Southern Kaduna is steadily being transformed into killing fields, either due to a gross failure of governance, or official indifference and acquiescence. International pressure must now be brought to bear on both the state and federal authorities to ensure protection for these vulnerable communities, and that effective action is taken to disarm all armed non-state actors, and bring the perpetrators of these horrific atrocities to justice." As CBN News has reported last month, a report released by a Nigerian organization estimates around 620 Christians were killed in the African country by Islamic militants during the first five months of 2020 alone. The International Society for Civil Liberties & Rule of Law (ISCLRL), an organization not aligned with the Nigerian government, released the report which also warned militant #Fulani herdsmen and the #BokoHaram has intensified their anti-Christian violence in the old Middle Belt and Northeast regions of the country with the burning or destroying of their centers of worship and learning... https://www.instagram.com/p/CBMi_nnJTPR/?igshid=1aoyi5bkupc8l

Afaka Abduction: Parents plans to negotiate with bandits despite the Govt warning
Tumblr media
The parents of the Abducted students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, have vowed to negotiate with the bandits to secure the release of their children despite the state Government warning. It was earlier reported that the Kaduna State Government has promised to prosecute anyone caught negotiating with bandits or terrorists in the state on its behalf. But while addressing a press conference on the matter on Monday, the parents said the government was insensitive to their plight and vowed to negotiate with the bandits for their children’s freedom The Chairman and Secretary of a group formed by the parents, Sam Kambai and Sanni Friday, respectively, spoke on behalf of others at the briefing. “Today (Monday) makes it 25 dreary and excruciatingly difficult days since our children have been in captivity. We have not received any words of empathy or assurance from government or have we seen any action to inspire confidence that something is being done to secure the safe release of our children. “For the record, the governor of Kaduna State has never addressed the parents of these students from the first day of the incident until now,” the parents said. They added that a government official later told them that the administration would not negotiate with bandits after they organized a protest on 22nd March 2021. “We wish to reiterate that we will do everything within our power to ensure that our children do not perish. “Let us be clear, it is due to the failure of government to live up to its primary responsibility of securing life and property that we have this ugly development in our hands. For government not to do everything to secure the release of the students 25 days after their abduction, and for government to keep the parents in the dark, smacks of gross insensitivity,” they added.   Read the full article

Buhari assures more support for military
Tumblr media
President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday said his administration would continue to provide resources for the execution of transformational projects with the aim of modernizing the Army to better position it to perform its duties. The President said this when he unveiled locally produced mine resistant ambush protected vehicles named Ezugwu and other armoured vehicles designed to carry out insertion and extraction of troops, assault, counter-terrorism, delivery of high fire power and urban warfare in Kaduna. The unveiling was part of the Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference, holding in Kaduna. Other primary and secondary armaments unveiled at the event included anti-aircraft guns that also carry a crew of twelve commanders, driver, two gunners and eight soldiers. “These armoured vehicles that were produced by DICON are testimonies that government’s effort is yielding positive results. “It is encouraging to note that, the Nigerian Army as a critical element of National power is involved in innovative and inventive ventures to become an Army to be proud of in the future by all Nigerians. “There is no doubt that a lot has been achieved by the Army since my assumption into office. Buhari noted the collaborative efforts of the command engineering Depot with relevant indigenous organizations to promote local content towards developing Nigeria’s Military Industrial Complex. “In this regard, it is pertinent to acknowledge the establishment of the Army University, Biu, the Army Resource Centre in the Army War College to further boost intellectual capacities in the forces,” he said. The president further lauded the Nigerian Army for the establishment of Army Cyber Warfare Command, Fifty Space Command and the Land Forces Segregation Centre. He said they were laudable efforts aimed at repositioning the Army to address emerging and future threats to National security. Buhari described the Nigerian Army Conference as an avenue for strategic leaders and operational commanders to appraise, assess and evaluate the Army’s activities for the year 2019 as well as make projections for improved engagements in 2020 and beyond. “This kind of self-assessment is being sustained because it is critical for the professional development of the Nigerian Army. One of the cardinal pillars of our government is the provision of security,” he stressed. The president appreciated men and officers of Nigerian Army for their relentless effort in securing the country, noting that “many personnel have lost their lives, some have sustained injuries and a significant number have been away from their families for a long time.” Governor Nasiru El-Rufai, in a goodwill message, said Kaduna State was privileged to play host to many military formations which brings various benefits to the state. “We are proud of the leadership of the Nigerian Army. Here in Kaduna, we cannot forget the role the Nigerian Army plays in encouraging peace and security across the state in the last four years.” He said the army had helped to restore peace and stability in the Southern Kaduna by establishing an operational base. “We appreciate the initiative, innovative and investments undertaken by the army which by extension benefit our people.” El-Rufai disclosed that the assembling of automotive vehicles for the use of the army had begun in Kaduna, in addition to the Peugeot Automobile Assembly Plant. “DICON is also starting garment for the armed forces and para military agencies. “We are establishing a cluster garmenting that will produce not only military and para military uniforms, but also civilian clothing for domestic and export. “We are going to take advantage of that and we are very grateful to the army for being that catalyst for development,” El-Rufai said.
