Kandi Cat Cuff Tutorial
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is a tutorial for my cat cuff kandi design! This tutorial assumes you already know how to make a basic x-base cuff. If you don't, there are many tutorials for that on YouTube. Instructions under the cut!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Create a 2 x tall x base cuff using the following pattern. It isn't essential, but I like to use glow in the dark beads for the eyes so that the eyes will glow in the dark! The cuff being made in this tutorial uses 2 different colors to make an odd-eyed cat, but you can also use the same color for both.
Tumblr media
Pull the string through the top bead of the eye, then add 5 beads to it and pull it through the bead at the edge of the eye as shown. I like to use black to represent the "eyeliner" a lot of cats have, but you could also use the same color as the fur for a more subtle look.
Tumblr media
Pull the string through a few beads in the x-base and back through the same bead it was coming out of before, but in the opposite direction.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Continue putting 5 beads and pulling it through the corners of the eyes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once again, pull it through a few beads so it is coming out of the corner bead in the opposite direction than before, and continue adding 5 beads and pulling through the corners. Then, tie it off and cut it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pull a string scrap through the bead at the top of the eye, and make sure both sides are the same length. Then, add 5 black beads to BOTH sides of the string.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the hard part, and it's hard to photograph, too, so sorry about that. Pull only ONE side of the string through the bottom bead of the eye, then tie the two ends of the string together. Use a quadruple or quintuple knot because this part is under a lot of tension. Cut the ends of the string and pull it until the knot goes into a bead and is hidden.
Tumblr media
Do all that stuff for the other eye, too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tie a string scrap below the center bead of one of the eye edges, then pull it up through the center bead and add a heart bead for the nose. Pull it through the next center bead, tie it off, and cut it. If you want, you can also put a bead between the eyes on top using this same method - it adds additional stability and a decorative touch, but is not essential.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tie on another string and pull it through some of the edge beads so it comes out as shown, then add 9 beads.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pull the string through as shown to make the first ear. Then, pull it through the beads on the edge until it comes up above the second eye, add another 9 beads, and pull it through to make the second ear.
Once you tie it off, it will be done! You can scroll to the top of the post to see it, I've hit the image limit.

simple jester single tutorial!!
Tumblr media
hi while my power was out I came up with this bc I was bored and idk if someone's made these before but I haven't seen them online anywhere so here is how to make them for specifically two of my friends but also anyone else ^__^
getting started!
Tumblr media
get the normal amount of base string ready, I normally just measure using my wrist and make sure there's extra to be able to tie it.
Tumblr media
then get a second string and make it the same length but around a third longer than the first one (I made the one in the pic longer than what it needed to be)
Tumblr media
next get your chosen colors! the og only uses three (not including the bells) (the bells can be replaced with any bead) but you can use however many looks good ^__^
after choosing the colors it's time to BEAD!!!!! yay. o_O
Tumblr media
first, make the strings equal at one end and have the extra from the longer one hanging out at the end that you'll be putting the beads on
Tumblr media Tumblr media
to start putting the main beads on the string fold the longer one over to be the same length then put two of the first color
Tumblr media Tumblr media
after that add the next color and then separate the two strings
Tumblr media Tumblr media
on the longer string add the three beads wanted for the outer part of the bracelet, and on the shorter string add the third color you want in the middle
Tumblr media
after this go back to using both strings and add one last bead of the outer color to finish the triangle shape
Tumblr media Tumblr media
repeat until six triangles have been made!
Tumblr media
tie the strings at the same point and boom! awesome bracelet!!!!

Kandi flower tutorial!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is a tutorial on how to make a flower like the ones above :3
Tumblr media
These are the beads you need; 10 of an inner flower color (i used the yellow), 50 of a petal color (im using red for this one), 27 for the stem (i used 23 green, then three lighter green and a yellow for the end), and extra beads if you want leaves (i had two leaves, 8 beads in all for them)
The first step is basically like starting a star. Put your ten of the inner flower color on the string and tie it off; make sure the resulting pentagon has two long strings coming from it. One string will complete the petals, and the other completes the stem.
Tumblr media
String on three beads of your petal color and go through the next point, making sure it looks like the image below on the left. Repeat this process four more times until you get the image on the right, then string through the bead making the point of the star. (I traced over the string in white so it was more visible)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now to make the full petals, string on seven beads of your petal color and go through the next point of the star to get the image below on the left. Repeat this again until you get the image on the right, and string back through to the point of the pentagon as shown.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You just need to tie off the flower, so loop through the point next to the bead as shown below on the left and make a knot; you may need to guide the knot to the space between two of the beads to avoid having the string pass over a bead. Tie it off two or three times, and cut the string to get something like the image on the right.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Flip over the flower and put the other string through the bead mext to it like below.
Tumblr media
String on one of your stem beads and go through the neighboring bead under one of the initial points as shown on the left. Repeat all the way around until you get the right image.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
String on another stem bead and go through the next previouslystrung stem bead like the left image, then repeat to get the right image
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since the beads arent close, string back through each of the highest five beads and pull tight to get something like the image below.
Tumblr media
Now, string on another stem bead and go through a bead opposite of the bead the string is coming out of (left image), then string back through the bead in the middle to secure it (right image).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
String back through that middle bead (left image), then add on your remaining stem beads as shown on the right.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
String back through some of your stem, popping out where you want a leaf, stringing those beads on, then stringing back in the stem a bead above it. I prepeated this again further up to add another leaf. If you don鈥檛 want to add leaves, you can ignore those steps
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once you string back up to the top, string through the middle bead; go through the side the previous string leading to the stem does not come out of (i forgot to do that on this flower but did it correctly on the orange one)
Tumblr media
String around until you get through another bead, and then we can tie it off
Tumblr media
String under the strings that may be there, then make the knot. Tie it off a few times, then cut the string and your flower is done!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I hope this tutorial was understandable (i don鈥檛 make tutorials almost ever), and i hope you enjoyed!
Some ideas from my family and me that i have not tested but may work:
making the leaves seperately and tying them on after
making the stem with a pipe cleaner to be movable
making the stem seperately and tying it on the middle bead on its own (i made a jellyfish and thought of this as it should be the same technique)
And an idea i did test; you can tie it onto a hair clip and wear it! It might catch in your hair though, I tested it only for a moment and didnt go out with it on

Questions For More Experienced Kandi Makers
Been trying to make an x base for a while now but I'm having some trouble with the string ending up being too loose to hold itself up. I've tried using fishing line in the hopes that it would be able to hold it up but I haven't been able to get it to work so far.
Oh, and another thing, any advice for someone learning how to do a peyote stitch and read patterns? I've tried watching some tutorials on YouTube but I can't seem to get the hang of it. I'm a bit of a slow learner lol.

Note
i saw the creeper necklace you made yesterday and i was wondering how you attached the creeper on? is it lego or smth else? it just looks super awesome and i wanted to try and make my own
Tumblr media
Oh of course! I have a few ways of attaching things to my kandi, in this case I used my little rotary thing to make a hole, then screw in a pin! (With my hand!! no other tools needed) Use any jump ring to attach it directly to the string oooor loop it through a bead!
Here I used a random metal circle I had and cut it open to use as a jump ring, and I prefer looping through a bead bc it looks nicer and feels more secure imo ^^
Thanks for asking!! I love to share my techniques and ideas 馃惐馃挅
Good luck!! 馃寛

Mandela cuff tut w/photos: 3
Hi there!! I'm Reece, and today I'll be teaching you how to make a Mandela cuff XD
I don't know if this counts as art, but I'm saying it does LOL.
This is my first tutorial, so please feel free to lmk if I can improve anything: 3
First you need at least 5 colours in a gradient. You can use as many beads as you like, but I'm limited on beads today, so I'm using 4.
I chose dark orange, light orange, yellow, and white.
The items I used is;
- pony beads [ofc]
- something to cut the cloth elastic with [I used a knife, but I encourage you to use scissors]
- cloth elastic [at least 3 meters of it]
- and lastly, I used a tapestry needle to help "sew' the cuff together.
Tumblr media
You'll want to start by making a basic X base cuff [the tut I used is linked聽here] You should use your darkest and second-darkest colors on this part; it'll make sense later.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now that you've finished the base of the Mandela cuff, it's time to make it interesting! [AKA; 3d spikes]
you'll want to thread into one of your lighter colored beads, known as connector beads in this case. Do this the whole way around. remember to keep your elastic pulled tight for this part!
Tumblr media
[side note; I realize my colours look like candy corn lol]
You'll want to get your second darkest, your middle and your second-lightest colour here. Basically just follow the photos but with your own pallet.
Tumblr media
Once you've done that, tie off and thread your string into the point [in this case the white bead].
You'll be making the lower half of the spike now, so use the darker colour [orange] and the lighter one [yellow] and thread into the lower orange bead on the cuff.
Tumblr media
Just like that! [My cuff is upside down in this image, but it doesn't really matter, as long as you're copying the pattern] now do that all the way around.
once it's done you'll have lovely 3D spikes.
for the final step, get 5 beads of your lightest colour and string them through the points on your spikes.
Tumblr media
and then you're done! a lovely mandela cuff to enjoy. you can infitely make these bigger, with each X you add onto the base X cuff you'll be able to do more rows of spikes [as long as it's an even number] have fun!
[the orignal tutorial i followed is https://youtu.be/cCy6-iftnh4?si=N_Rn2K68MC7Vtiz2 ]

Here are the rest of the instructions below this cut!
Add 7 beads and go through the center of the next section, repeat twice. I like to use some decorative round beads for this, but make sure they have a wide enough hole to get your string through them 2 times, because you'll need to do that with one of them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pull the string through some beads so it comes out at the center of one of your points, facing inwards, one last time.
Tumblr media
Add beads for your centerpiece, you can change this up a bit as long as the length is the same but my usual go-to is 4 normal beads, 2 long thin beads, and 1 big round bead. Then, pull through the other point, and tie it off! It's done!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
To change the size of this pattern, here is what you do:
Add or remove an even number of sections from the choker base. For example, to make a slightly bigger choker, your base could be 17 sections long instead of 15.
Adjust the location where you start your decorative layer accordingly, by 1 section on each side for every 2 sections you changed in the choker base. For example, to make the choker with a base length of 17 sections, you would bring the string out at the center of the seventh repeat instead of the center of the sixth repeat.
Have fun with this tutorial! There's no need to credit me every time you make this type of choker, but I would love to see what you make, so I'd really appreciate if you'd send me a link if you post a photo!
Elegant Sparkle Kandi Choker Tutorial
Hello, everyone! This is a tutorial for my elegant sparkle choker design. It's mostly images, with a few gifs for steps that are a little more complicated. I have a small neck, but I'll include instructions at the end for sizing it up in case you don't. Here are a few examples of different styles you can make with this tutorial:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Instructions below the cut!
You want to use fabric-colored elastic for this, because you need the durability and stretch. Cut it to the longest length you can comfortably work with (you'll likely need to add more string later regardless), string on a lobster clasp, and put it in the middle of your string. Then, add three beads on each side.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next, add a single bead onto BOTH ends of your string, and pull it down so it's together with your other beads.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Continue this pattern until you have almost finished the base of the choker. For me, this is 14 repeats, but consult the sizing instructions at the end to determine the right size for you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Add 3 more beads on each end, like you're making one last repeat, but don't add the last bead on both strings. Instead, put it on one string, and pull the other through it, like this:
Tumblr media
Now, you'll have the base of the choker complete. In the size I'm making, that should be 15 repeats of the 3 beads + connector pattern.
Next, string one end of your string through a couple of beads so it comes out of the bead in the middle of one of your repeats, like this.
Tumblr media
Add two beads in the color you want to go at the top of the choker, and string through the next center bead. Pull it tight, and continue the pattern all the way around so it looks like the third image.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tie off this end of your string and trim the end. I had a gif for this but unfortunately it was too big for tumblr, so I can't post it. Basically though it's the same as you'd tie off literally any other kandi. Afterwards, it should look like this.
Tumblr media
Just like you did with the first end of the string, pull your other end of the string through so it comes out of the middle bead in your first repeat, like this.
Tumblr media
This time, though, keep pulling it through the beads on the edge of your kandi until it comes out at the right place. For this size, that is the middle of the sixth repeat. I also had to add more string at this point, just do that with a triple knot or whatever you usually use.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
String on 5 beads, and bring the string through the center of the next repeat. Repeat 4 times.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pull the string through some other beads so it comes out of the center of either the first or last of these 4 spikes, facing inwards. I took a photo with the string loose so you can see how I did this, but the exact way you do it doesn't really matter as long as the string comes out at the right place.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Add 5 more beads and go through the next center bead, repeat 3 times.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once again, pull your string through various beads until it comes out of one of the center beads, facing inwards.
Tumblr media
I've hit the tumblr image limit, so I will finish this tutorial in a reblog - hold on a minute while I do that.
