                        My “janiizu” watchlist of 2019
1. Boku to shippo to Kagurazaka - This was actually the only drama I saw with Arashi member during this year :/ But I am really glad I started the new year with this cute and fluffy drama. It is a warm story about the life of a sweet and caring vet. This role was a perfect match for sunshine Masaki Aiba. Definitely must-see if you are an animal lover like me. Aiba-chan and all the “shippos” melted my heart. I could “live” my childhood dream of being a vet thanks to this drama.
2. Laplace’s witch - probably the biggest disappointment? It is the trailer’s fault I had high hopes. Were it not for Sho ( who did not have enough screening time btw ) and my good friend who watched with me, I won't finish it. Everything seemed rushed, not explained properly. I could not grasp all that supernatural features in rushed revenge themed plot. And Suzu’s acting was so annoying, she ruined the mysterious aura of her character because of her poor and pathetic acting. Sho was really smexy in it but simply used as an eso to sell the movie... that’s it.
3. One Million Stars Falling from the Sky -  pretty old drama from 2002 watched because I really loved the Korean remake and wanted to see the original version. It is a tragic story of two people who are suddenly connected with their forgotten past just to realise they never can be together. To be honest, I loved the Korean version more, because of better described and developed relationships and more thrilling and tragic features in the plot. Some characters were lame in Japanese version, to be honest. Also, Koreans put a better emphasis on “mind game” and plot twists. But Japanese one with Kimura was as heartbreaking as Korean one with Seo In Guk.
4. Papadoru - Watched because Ryo is my fav from Kanjani and it is supposed to be legendary drama. But it ended up being a bit disappointing because of the boring plot and because chemistry among the lead couple was almost non-existent. Still, I enjoyed the relationship between children and Ryo. And little girl fangirling over Sho was my fav character  :D To be honest, this is really fitted drama mainly for hardcore Ryo’s fans and other people might be disappointed in it just like me.
5. Assassination classroom - Live-action remake of famous anime. Did not expect to enjoy it. I saw both movies, and both very pretty cool and entertaining. Nino did a great job with his voice acting and whole acting casting was great too. Masaki Suda and Yamada were outstanding in their roles. I really like the nice and inspiring message of both movies.
6. Killing for the prosecution - Idk if I am that stupid but I was so confused during this movie. The story followed too fast and I could not grasp it to fully understand what is happening. The characters were not introduced well I would say...But Nino’s and Kimura’s acting was really nailed. Maybe if I could read the book it would be easier to make connections. If you enjoy thrillers with juridical features give this movie try.
7. Aka medaka - A beautiful retro biographic movie from the world of rakugo’s actors. I really enjoyed this movie because I learned something new about Japanese culture. The acting cast did an awesome job and portrayed their characters believable. Nino shined in his role of rookie rakugo actor and I was hooked to follow his life story to see how he mastered his dream job.
8. Eien no Nispa- Another biographical movie, but this time with Jun as the main character. It was a really beautiful and touching story about Hokkaido’s first inhabitants-Ainu people and the brave explorer Takeshiro Matsuura who mapped this beautiful Japanese island and fought for Ainu people’s rights. Again I learned a lot about Japanese history and geography. Jun portraying this difficult role was splendid, really hats off to him.
9. Yuuzai- Ikuta simply never disappoints me. Another heavy-  psychological mystery thriller with him...hmm still did not sort my thoughts about it. For sure this movie is not to be seen just once to understand everything. There were just too many characters, their stories overlapped and too much was happening at the same time. The story was interesting and will make you hooked and wonder until the end. The acting was splendid, as expected of great actors Eita and Toma. Also supporting acting cast was awesome too. Such a pity I could not see it during the film festival in  Karlovy Vary.
10. Ore no hanashi wa nagai- For me the most anticipated drama of the year. I usually don't watch ongoing dramas, but of course, Toma is the exception. At first, I was sceptical when I get to know it will be a family drama genre, worrying it will be boring, but it turned to be more fun than I expected. The whole “family” was really nice and funny. It seemed like you watch the real household like you are part of the family and together want to help find Mitsuru’s motivation to work. Toma put his whole being into his sassy and “i-know-it-all” character and sometimes he was so annoying yet clever want to kick his ass. But then he is so charming and realistic, one simply could not stop rooting for him and laugh at his jokes. This drama was a great relax for me after tiring week at uni. It made my winter friday evenings entertaining.
What do you think? Did you see some of this dramas/ movies? Do you like Johnny’s? What did you watch with them this year? I like to discuss about dramas and actors/actresses so if you want talk about my article, dont hesitate to let me know your thoughts.

Strawberry Prince Releases CARDFIGHT!! VANGUARD overDress 2nd Season OP Theme "START" MV
The official YouTube channel for the six-member Japanese boy band Strawberry Prince (SutoPuri for short), has posted a music video for their latest digital single song "START" released on December 5. It has been featured as the OP theme for the CARDFIGHT!! VANGUARD overDress TV anime's ongoing second season since October.
Strawberry Prince was formed in June 2016 and has been active in a wide range of activities such as music streaming, live webcasting, and live stage performances, mainly on YouTube and TwitCasting. Each member is represented by an illustrated character in web and media appearances, and the total number of video views on YouTube has exceeded 4.7 billion by December 2021.
The lyrics of "START" were written by Yuki Shirai, who has written songs for many idol groups who belong to Johnny & Associates, such as KAT-TUN, TOKIO, Kanjani Eight, KinKi Kids, Kis-My-Ft.2, and A.B.C-Z. And the music was composed by one of the unit's members, Root. The song's fast and rocky tune matches the anime, and the music video is very refreshing, which fits for its title.

I’ve translated Sexy Zone’s interview in the latest issue of TVnavi SMILE! As it is my first translation project and I’m still learning Japanese, there are bound to be some inaccuracies and mistakes. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy this interview! I had a lot of fun translating it and look forward to posting more of my translations.
Credits for the original scans are to yoshiko_mama on LJ!
Sexy Zone has released their single ‘Gyutto’, the theme song for the drama ‘Wagahai no Heya de Aru’ starring Kikuchi Fuma. From these five people with sharp feelings and senses, we received their confessions and views on their work and motivations.
Q. What was a recent moment where you felt warm or healed?
Marius: I was healed when I watched the news about the pandas at Ueno Zoo. But because I was watching it for a while, I guess I felt somewhat sorry for them. Later at a big retail store, I bought about four cheap and soft cushions. Because they were so fluffy and I put them on top of the sofa, I felt so comfortable even by myself. I thought about watching my favorite drama and while I was watching, I didn’t realize that I fell asleep. When I noticed it was something like 2 AM in the morning, I said ‘Oh no, I have to brush my teeth’. I was troubled because it was too comfortable (lol).
Shori: Because I’m a little embarrassed about being healed, I honestly do not want to say much as a guy (lol). Well, I guess it’s the parakeet I own named ‘Ki’. Because she’s lonely, if I take her out of the bird cage, she goes on my shoulder and always follows me. It didn’t feel like I worked hard to tame her, since the beginning she follows me. Well, I’m certainly healed (lol).
Sou: When I work with Marius, I feel warm and healed. Even if Marius doesn’t concentrate and I get a little irritated, I still fawn over him and feel that he’s cute and I forgive everything (lol). When I say things like ‘Marius is cute today, too~’, he cutely replies with ‘Sou-chan, thank you~’. Because this kind of thing seems like Marius, even if he’s becoming more and more of an adult, I want this Marius as he is now always.
Fuma: We went to an elementary school to record the PV for our new song ‘Gyutto’, and there were notices for the PV screening telling fathers, mothers, and friends to ‘Please come and see it’. When I picked up one such notice, a child had written ‘If you can, please come and see it.’ I was almost crying because of such kindness. When I was 4 years old, it was such an ordinary feeling for my parents to come see me (lol). Because I saw that as I’m now becoming an adult, I thought it was a caring and kind child and it healed me.
Kento: I went to see an original animated American movie, but, ah….is it okay if I only talk about movies? Anyways…I was healed by the cuteness of the leading actress (lol)! She is a princess who grew up on an island with only women, but one day, she meets a lost pilot who changes her life. When the two of them are about to kiss, the scene is zoomed out. Somehow, this becomes more effective than directly showing the kiss. I don’t know why, but I was strangely healed.
Q. What is something you’ve received recently that motivated you?
Shori: I guess it’s Mr. Children’s single ‘himawari’. The songs are awesome, and I watched a documentary that comes with the CD. It shows how Sakurai (Kazutoshi) san makes songs, and things like how the members of Mr. Children produce those songs and thus their production process is followed. I’ve always liked Mr. Children. I somehow thought Sakurai-san was the center of the group, but in reality, all four members work together. They would say, ‘Okay, let’s try changing the drums a little bit’, and the instruments are changed. Then the bass is also slightly changed to match the rhythm, and the small details are steadily adjusted by the four members. All the members of the band become able to derive one sound. Because that was the first time I became aware of this, it was fun and I learned a lot.
Sou: If it’s other than Johnny’s, I watch overseas artists’ performances that I think would be good to draw motivation from. Right now, I’m watching overseas dramas. People from overseas, and Marius too, their gestures are amazing. It’s because of their expressive ability. If it’s in a drama it will be exaggerated, but because on stage you’re asked for it, when I watch overseas performances I think I can make some use of the stage.
Marius: The other day when I went to Harajuku for shopping, a huge crowd of people were lined up to buy a brand’s collaboration bag. It felt like you couldn’t go through the road at all. Although it’s an incredibly popular brand, the more I think about it, everyone wanted that one bag, and I thought it was amazing that hundreds of people were lined up. The power that “thing” has is enough to attract everyone into making them believe they like it. I am not a “thing”, but I’d like to think I have that kind of charm. And Sexy Zone also. I feel that I do my own shopping after deciding the basics. I go shopping slowly, but if I have no time, I look at a store’s stock in advance and buy things only by fitting the size.
Kento: The other day, I cried in a movie theater after a long time. Originally, I wanted to watch a film by Tsukikawa Sho, who was the same director as ‘Kurosaki-kun no Iinari ni Nante Naranai’, and by chance my friend recommended it to me, saying “It was good so you should go see it”. The heroine’s indescribable idol feeling contrasted with the main hero’s real feeling. Already then, the main hero’s feeling of emptiness is really painful….my heart was pained. I still have not been able to meet the director, but I want to tell him soon that it was awesome!!!
Fuma: I was motivated by Eito-niisan’s (Kanjani 8) live performance. 50 minutes after the opening, I was surprised that it become an all-band performance. They really didn’t move from the stage, and because I like bands it was cool. When I want to see them, they made a mistake, but then the members laughed after. They said, “Sorry, sorry, let’s try one more time!”, and then decided to completely start over from the beginning. I got goosebumps from wondering if there was ever a living feeling like this seen in Johnny’s live performances so far. The feeling of the members and the fans was also really nice. After that, they came out with completely sparkling costumes as if it was the opening once more. The non-moving band was intense, and it seemed that the audience was getting really excited because a part of them was kept in suspense.
Q. What is something you’ve learned in a recent work?
Shori: As expected it’s my ‘Summer Paradise’ live performance. It was hard for me to make, so I learned a lot. Since I had been making the original draft since May while on tour with Sexy Zone, I wondered if it was possible to complete it. Creating a live performance is sometimes fun or painful, but either way it’s normal to have both feelings. I think that in work it’s also basic.
Sou: In specific terms, although it’s difficult, it’s more fun to do something with goals in mind so I become aware that I’m trying to create tasks one by one and clear them. For example, on a variety show communication is important, so first you remember the names of the performers, and then you speak on your own accord, and if you act frankly it becomes easier to speak on the show. In that case, it would be good if I can get a chance to do this. Since I already know the position of where I stand in the group, it’s a question as to how I can make use of it and respond to myself. But if I go overboard in trying to be funny, it becomes a type that’s not funny at all (lol). I normally try to challenge myself as much as possible, and when the members pick up on it at an irrelevant time, I guess it becomes something like flowers blooming (lol)?
Marius: I saw Shori-kun’s Summer Paradise concert and his balance was amazing and easy to see. I didn’t get tired like at an ordinary concert, and I felt refreshed while watching it. Every segment flowed with the selected songs, making a concert where it’s easy to see the direction of its course. Unlike I imagined, I became really energetic. For our concerts also, I discussed how to skillfully combine my ideas with Sou-chan’s and I learned a lot.
Q. What are you learning on set of your movie ‘Miseinen Dake Kodomo Janai’?
Kento: Director Hanabusa’s stance on set is truly amazing. I’m learning a lot from him, or perhaps I should say I’ve completely fallen in love with him (lol). Before filming, he always comes to the makeup room where the cast is preparing. ‘How are you today? Nao-kun (my character’s name) how are you?’, he tells me. And then, while explaining the scene we’re to shoot that day, he tells us in the kitchen how he wants to film the scene. His sincere attitude in approaching his work is cool, and he’s also really funny and makes us laugh a lot. I’m learning a lot through his personality and his way of creating an atmosphere on set. I love you, Director Hanabusa!
Q. What are you learning on set of your leading drama ‘Wagahai no Heya de Aru’?
Fuma: Because I’m by myself in the drama I have a lot of lines, and although I managed to get two episodes in my head before we started filming, I shot one episode in two days and just like that I’ve exhausted my memory (lol).  In the morning I memorize my lines, and then again during lunch breaks, and also during my evening breaks. It’s a drama, but it’s also an everyday challenge on the limit of my memorization ability (lol).

Karlemon’s Lands: Dalecar (continued)
Geography of Dalecar
River Dusan. The easternmost of the great floodplain rivers, Dusan is a calm and deceptive water course, with all its many rock fields and sinkholes hidden deep beneath the water. With its source in the Milesian hinterlands and its mouth in the Szwed fjord, its main claim to fame is as the mythical home of the apocryphal fifty-eighth Vanathe, Marwa the Betrayer.
River Vilya. The river which supports the great naval yards of Sarnika, it holds a special place in Dalecarii folklore as the water course used by the last of the Kanjani to leave their ancestral home in the Rise. Its mouth in the forested highlands of central Dalecar runs to its mouth on the Cosiman side of the border in the Tethyrian Finger, a long inlet that runs many miles inland.
River Tailabaciu. The river upon which the city of Griegesstadt is built, its course flows eastwards into Ugurzhna from its source in the foothills of the Milesians. Said to have been the site of the first contact between primitive humans and their stalwart dwarven allies in who eventually settled in the Wyrmspine, there is a monument dedicated to the folkloric encounter at the Bronzehorse Ford presided over by a statue of Peohtric, the androgynous demigod of dwarven legend.
The Taman Peninsula. Dalecar’s colonial holdings across the Vestal Sea, they have been a hotly contested territory for close to six hundred years, with towns and villages changing hands between Dalecar and the tribes of Ugurzhna on a fairly regular basis. The governing city of Kistalint is a fortress city built in the style of Sarnika and Valdemar, though its destroyed sister city lies fallow further to the south.
The Milesians. A range of mountains that line Dalecar’s northern border with Fallsund, the Milesians have been the refuge for exiles, dissidents and bandits for centuries from all across Karlemon’s Lands. They are also known for a long and labyrinthine complex of tunnels, not connected to the infamous Underdark, but self-contained and known as the Burrows and Barrows, depending on the altitude of the individual entrance.
The Isle of Srovor. Once the highest peak of the hills surrounding the Ynen Valley, the Isle of Srovor is an isolated island between the Dalecarii mainland and the Taman Peninsula with a remnant of the Yneni culture still extant. With a population numbering in the low thousands, many rumours circulate about these secretive and remote villagers and the ancient gods they claim to walk the rocky fields of the isle.
Landmarks of Dalecar
The Barbican of Kistalint. The oft besieged citadel of southernmost Dalecar, Kistalint’s barbican has withstood seven sieges, six pitch battles and two months sustained tunnelling to reach the high levels of dependability that the defenders of the city have come to expect from the near-four hundred year old walled bastion. Due to the near constant rate of violent death within and without its walls, the Barbican is reputed to be haunted in the extreme, with over twenty individual entities known to persist within its gates.
Tumblr media
The Great Trade Hall of Valdemar. The first mass complex for trade and commerce in Karlemon’s Lands, the Trade Hall, as constructed by Vasil I Leonidovich in 704 CE is the first stop for merchants from Sinhal, the cities of  Ugurzhna and the great elven metropolises as far abroad as Emel Caelora. Every type of ware and good is sold here at reasonable prices and the goods are taxed by the city in return for reputation and revenue.
Tumblr media
The City of Lyukomorye. Named for a chieftain of the Sun Vulture tribe which lived nearby during the Dalecarii occupation, this abandoned city was left to rot following a long drought which preceded a virulent and deadly plague. The sister city to Kistalint, Lyukomorye is an eerie and disturbing place, haunted by beasts, bandits and more dangerous creatures as well in the deeper places of the land, but which also boasts the most detailed maps of any where in the area.
Tumblr media
Ser Boleslav’s Elder. In the centre of the city of Sarnika a great elder tree grows, known to be the last resting place of the ashes of the founder of the Church of Four Virtues, Ser Boleslav Nedza. Raised in a family of mystics, Boleslav is said to have been dissatisfied with his lot in life and sought out a greater purpose. Finding no calling from above, he did not despair as many would and began to craft his own philosophy based on the tenets of courage, wisdom, temperance and justice.
Tumblr media
Wildlife of Dalecar
Akhlut. A vicious, dangerous beast that ventures onto land in order to hunt humans and other animals. Its tracks can be recognised because they lead to and from the ocean, indicating that it is lurking under the water nearby.
Tumblr media
Wallah. Towering two legged predatory birds native to eastern Dalecar and the border with Ugurzhna, they prey on nearly anything that moves with a particular proclivity for horse flesh.
Tumblr media
Vudansk. A hulking bug-eyed fish-like creature from the eastern most reaches of the Vestal Sea, they are said to live far in the depths of the ocean and only rise to the surface in search of slaves and prey.
Tumblr media
Owlbear. Formerly the result of experimentation by hedge witches in centuries past, there is now a breeding population of these powerful and dangerous monstrosities in Dalecar.
Tumblr media
Goldhorn Ibex. A distant southern relative of the Chillfoot, the goldhorn is a cunning and flighty beast, given to allowing hunters to chase it into treacherous passes in the mountains where it can give them the slip and leave them lost.
Tumblr media
Hippogryph. A rarely seen creature of central and western Dalecar, the hippogryph makes its home in the deepest reaches of the forests and only ventures into the open during its brief mating season, which only occurs every five years.
Tumblr media
Demi-human Races of Dalecar
Gnolls. These savage hyena-men have ravaged the settlements of Dalecar since even before the tribes of Ugurzhna from whom the Dalecarii conquered their kingdom. Their pack-oriented lifestyle and fierce territorial streak have not engendered them to the Dalecarii in the slightest, and neither has their penchant for eating livestock, family pets and the occasional wayward child.
Tumblr media
Dalecarii Folklore
Chthon, the Dark God. An ancient being of terrible reputation and power, Chthon isn’t worshipped in Dalecar so much as he is reviled. An ancient holdover from the beliefs of the Kanjani ancestors of Dalecar’s people, he is still feared and the folklore of the nation contains many heroes who seek to subvert, trick or overcome his entropic, rotting grasp. A substantial proportion of northern Dalecarii practice an ancient worship and teaching of this one’s power and warn others against the danger they say that he poses to all mortals, not just humans. His domain is death, decay and the end of creation.
Tumblr media
Hexen. The last night of Spring is celebrated in Dalecar with raucous dancing and feasting, accompanied by huge bonfires lit to ward off the hunting parties of Chthon and his many retainers. Children dress in masks of stitched cloth and run between the fires, pretending to be monsters, knights or witches. Real witches use this night as a time of peace and walk freely amongst the peasantry, where they are valued as talented herbalists, magicians and midwives in defiance of Chthon’s dark powers.
Tumblr media
Afanas, the Immortal One. Once the greatest scion of a family of mages, Afanas came to fear his own death enough that he locked away his soul in a large emerald which he hid away from the sight of Chthon. In his search for the methods of immortality, he drove himself mad with obsession, becoming cruel, petty, selfish and pitiless. In some versions of the tale, he sacrifices his own son to Chthon to stave off his own death, turning to what he hated and feared in order to become ever-living. None are certain whether he still lives, but many fear the return of such a powerful lich.
Tumblr media
Vrykani. Though lycanthropes are fairly common in Dalecar, by far the most numerous are the vrykani, which are born and not made. Theirs is a bloodline that goes back centuries to beyond the days of Caradec Grall, when the great chieftain Konrad Jagielov ruled in what is now Sarnika. Said to be descended from Vrykan Jagielov, Konrad’s bastard son by the witch Gromalka, they are near to a fault vicious bloodthirsty monsters with a hatred for mortal humans and a taste for flesh.
Tumblr media
Rushana. The vengeful spirits of drowned women killed by jealous husbands and lovers, these spirits of the water lurk in rivers and lure besotted handsome unmarried men to their deaths with their beautiful appearances. They may leave the water for a short time before needing to return and replenish their essence, searching for travellers on nearby roads or drunken revellers for easier pickings. They are specifically thought to inhabit the Vilya river, but have also been seen in the Dusan and Tailabaciu as well.
Tumblr media
Strigoii. The risen undead corpse of the recently deceased, strigoii are known for their pallid complexion, aversion to sunlight and taste for blood. In Dalecarii folklore, their rise is caused by improper burial in unconsecrated ground and so a watch is placed over each burial plot to ensure the risen vampire can be put down if necessary via quick decapitation. Among the most famous of the strigoii was the former Dalecarii ambassador to Ouranaiel Borys Korshovich, who died after three days out in the sun and resurrected as a revenant in front of several dozen witnesses.

Untitled Review
My bias said since there’re only 2 years left until Arashi’s 20th, they have 2 years to test their limits and boundaries before being busy celebrating entering their 3rd decade, thus, that is what I choose to focus on in appreciating this album...
Green Light - Top batter. I wasn’t sucked into this immediately, but my impression of it has changed. The preview on the website which only featured the chorus made me think of their kouhais (HSJ, Kisumai), but the lower notes changed my mind. I find that I don’t dislike the tuning on the members’ voice, so that’s good. The transitions are niggling me though. Feels like it could have been done more smoothly. I find that the contrasts throw me off a little. Still one of my favourites from the album though.
Mikan - When I first heard it, I was blooming mad because of the mishmash of genres that didn’t feel like they mesh. But as I listened to it more, I became convinced that it is a daring attempt. It was what hinted me at what Arashi was trying to do with the album this round, before they dropped any other details about it. My condolences about the MV, but with Sho as bias, I don’t find myself complaining much when I’ve got that pair dance to flail over.
Sugar - Love the beat. I call these kinds of songs the ‘blast them out loud as you you go for a drive maybe at coastal roads ala what they do in MVs’ (or ‘Drive songs’ for short). Members singing in the back has got my attention rather than the member that’s doing the main, like when they’re going ‘sugaa~~rrr’ and ‘my loo~~vee’. Also, something about this reminds me of EXILE.
Ari no Mama de - Clap your hands to this, yeah~ Wave it side to side, yeah~ Channel your 1D fangirl heart, yeah~ (there, I’ve gone and said it). I want to be skipping around with my tween girlfriends while holding hands. Quite Western boyband-ish *cough* for our Japanese manband.
Fu’un - Kamen Rider or Super Sentai OSTs. Nothing really bad about it, but it’s never really been my kind of song.
Houyou - The first half felt a bit complicated. I couldn’t tell when the song was going to settle. And then I realized it wouldn’t. Then Sakurap actually caught me in this state which I’m thankful for. Bias he may be, it felt like a float to hold onto in the middle of a calm sea, but in the middle of the sea nonetheless. Edit: I found out the meaning. Suffice to say, no wonder I felt lost.. ahaha..
Pray - Shojo slice-of-life ending theme song. I’m seeing curious faces peeking out of umbrellas and up at the sky as the rain lets up but the air is still heavy with moisture (that’s probably just the ‘傘’ word getting in the way, though).
Hikari - Ninoooo~~~~~~ If I sounded this good opening a song, I’d call it out as my favorite, too. I can sort of see him as Disney princess singing to charm the tiny critters who’ll become his allies. Gospel-ish, just like they said in the jweb vid. Definitely a song that makes you stand up and sway left-right and clapping to beat. I like songs where there is obvious non-member backing, mostly because if it’s performed, then I like the backup singers in the con to have their time to shine. Or, they could have a choir, but they did that two years ago in Miyagi, so idk. The Sakurap isn’t my favourite kind, but appreciating the versatility. Would’ve liked to hear the 15-seconds after Ohno’s main following Sakurap as a cappella, but oh well.
Kanata e - I couldn’t make my mind up about the song until after the 1min mark. I’ll be honest and say only the chorus is sort of working for me. Sounds like uplifting anime OST. The rest... doesn’t really stick.
Song for you - This was great. This is great. Arashi did me in with this one. Ohno had gotten to me on Msute (I’m kinda weak for Ohno’s solo lines in group songs). But then they sang in unison the same lines/melody towards the end, and I can honestly say, the 5 of Arashi topped Ohno solo. That part was... beautiful. I don’t really have any other way to describe it. Whatever it was that Ohno found in Miles Away last year, they didn’t let it be a one-time thing and go to waste.
Kanpai Song - Either Kanjani or WEST. This was a Kansai song that thought it might want to do a little ‘上京’ing. From the title, I was expecting something like Energy Song. The theme was, the melody not so much. It’s not a song I would dislike, but clashes a bit with my image of current Arashi.
Unit Songs:
Curiosity Team - Bazuri Night: Initial D (?) Eurobeat stuff I should think. Fuzakeru song, as I thought it’ll be when I saw the unit (I might not show it, but I’m still a bit sore about Yama). I had this teeny hope for a slow song when the Machi ga Irodzuku koro video was going around, but Aiba on Rekomen explained that it wasn’t so. So the song is basically the old men having their night out unsupervised. I don’t mind doing some ParaPara to this.
Riida and his babies - Yoru no Kage: They sound like a a KPop group trying to promote themselves in Japan (in the sense that the group puts more effort since they’re trying to enter a foreign market). That, or Miura Daichi. I was pretty sure we’re going to get something classy from this unit though, so in that aspect I wasn’t disappointed. Nice high notes. Jun did great matching the other two, always have been a bit of his specialty, I should think. Looking forward to the performance.
Soubusen Nakama - UB: Unit bath. Of course. What were we thinking of getting when it’s these two. A straight ballad? Pfft. But the harmonizing is sweet. If I didn’t know better, I think I’m hearing open fields and clear endless blue skies with whispy clouds. There’s something Western (American outback? not country though) about it. It’s kinda cute if you don’t think about the meaning too much.
Sakumoto - Comeback: So, this is something like if MC Sakurai and DJ Matsumoto from Arafes ‘13 got together for real and decided to do something from 2 decades ago. I have no objections to this (kidding, I LOVE it).   It is ‘Get Arrested Pt. II’ after all. The countdowns in the song works so much for me. Gets you all riled up and excited for them. I can already hear the dead whale noises I’ll be making as watching the DVD next year induces a cardiac arrest in me. Edit: I just remembered the Yakai episode where they have an ICU girl describe Sho as having ‘good vibes’. It’d tickle me if that’s where the phrase in the lyrics come from.
If I’m to rank the unit songs:
Yoru no Kage
Comeback
UB
Bazuri Night
Why do I feel that this album is pretty polarizing? I’ve seen some people who aren’t into it (Japanese fans, though). I’m supposing it’s all the new sounds we’re hearing? However, despite that, I’ll repeat what I said in a post the other day,  I hope they can continue doing something different without fear of backlash from fans. Personally, I’m really happy with it.
Edit: After getting a proper looks, I’m wondering how much the members were involved with the lyrics. Song For You, for example, would be really weird if it was written without the members having any say at all. I mean, it’s beautiful, it’s a story of the group’s journey, but if a complete stranger wrote it then... you know. Kinda weird. Idk.
P.S.: There’s always this one song in each con that makes me wish I was there whenever I watch the con DVD, eg, Hope in the Darkness for Digitalian, Ohno’s Akatsuki in Japonism, and Nino’s Mata Kyou in AYH. But Song For You makes me wish I could have attended the con just from the sound of it. Here’s to them giving the song the justice it deserves.

Hiburan
Tadi saya nonton video mash up ost anime tahun 90 an di channel youtube Eka Gustiwana. Dulu pertama ngikutin dorama Anchor Woman nya Hideaki Takizawa (dia imut ya disini...haha) waktu SMP, trus saya suka. Kalo drama korea, sempet nangis-nangis nonton endless love dan ngikutin my love pattzi. Mulai dari anchor woman, majo no joken, sos, sampe my madona. Tapi ya cuma sekedar suka aja ga sampe nyari info-info soal dia. Nah waktu nonton 1 litre of tears barulah mulai suka ama Ryo Nishikido. Waktu demam kpop melanda anak muda Indonesia (ga cuma anak muda aja sih kayaknya ibu2 juga banyak), hiburan saya sempat beralih sih dari nonton dorama menjadi nonton varshow korea kayak running man, we got married, happy together, 1 night 2 days, strong heart, dll. Tapi saya ga lama sih mengikuti kpop. Kangen juga nonton j-dorama, akhirnya iseng nonton dorama lama Himitsu no Hanazono (iya gara2 Kanata) udah gitu sampe sekarang ga ngikutin varshow, kpop, sama drama korea lagi. Paling sekali2 nonton di TV atau di Youtube. Oh iya, sempet denk ngikutin daehan minguk manse di return of superman. Biar ga pusing bray. Eaaa udah macem pengamat aja nih :)
