Kan is absolutely going to break my heart in this show, isn't he? The way they've created him. He's so obviously in the closet and aching with the knowledge that he is and trying to avoid it, trying so hard to not be who he is. You can see that first response, that want and then the way he shuts himself down, pulls away, tenses up... And then when he looks at the more effeminate students and there is longing but also fear and it quickly turns to a brush off, to a dismissal, to talking about the girls he's gonna see and the date he has. But the longing in his look, the way he watches, the way he stares. Oh, Kan. You are gonna hurt.

One thing I like about Kan's character is that despite him clearly having internalised homophobia (the way he doesn't want other people to think he's gay by moving further away from Thua or by hitting on a female teacher in front of everyone, and the way he clearly likes Thua but doesn't want to let himself like him) it doesn't manifest in him being homophobic to others. In fact, not only is he not a dick to other queer guys at the school, he is the opposite of that. He punches students that throw around homophobic slurs about Thua. He's way kinder to the queer protesters than someone like Akk too (as much as his prefect role will let him be).

Back in ep 1 I legit thought he was going to make a homophobic comment when one of the protesters went "oopsie" in an effeminate way but no, all he did was wonder why they couldn't just follow the rules and express (dare I say it) concern to Thua because the curse could get them. Similarly, he brought up the curse to them in ep 2. For someone that believes in the curse (and he seems to, quite strongly) it sounds more like he's concerned for the boys' safety rather than wanting to punish them for rebelling.

Idk, I just really appreciate that about him. His homophobia is only hurting himself which is refreshing to see, but also really tragic.

Mixed feelings about Thua's journey this episode. I was getting very frustrated at him. But also I can understand the conflict and anger he felt because of the fact that he was bullied for years now for being gay, and then he saw akk (who turn out to be gay) too oppressing the world remembers students. Given that this boys school drama is a big metaphor for dictatorship and authoritarian systems Thua is the neutral character who took action in own hands. So I get it, I do.

It still felt a little out of character? Especially because kan and him had conflict over this for like... 3 minutes?? And then it was fine. The telenovela-sation of it all just for shock value its conflicting. But whatever I still like thua, it just makes little to no sense that someone who always puts others first just outted two people who were his friends. Even more because he was aware of Dika's suicide story and Chadok's influence on Akk. Very ?¿ but okay, what are we going to do about it

There's just something about a self loathing gay boy who's still eager to punch someone else for calling some a slur that just gets me, you know? Something about that self-hatred but the overpowering need to protect other people from that same feeling that just hits right.
