I have you, dear boy! Have I told you I love you lately? But I still let things slip. And then beat myself up anxiously. I don’t think I have bitched directly at anyone, but I learned to my cost in older fandom that people who never entered your head would think you were targeting them. Even when you were posting about a completely different subject. And then anyone who defends you is an “attack dog”. I miss LJ too, but trust me, the flock was never safe.

I'd disagree that it's lesbophobic. It's a parody of OOT yuri and Class S manga, anime and visual novels, including some of my favourite of all times. It has nothing to do with real world lesbians, and everything to do with the breathless hothouse worlds of, say, Onii-sama E.

Ouran is always first and foremost parody, and you can't look at it isolated from the source texts

I think. This might be one of those things where you and are looking at it through very different lenses. Because what I saw, the episode I sat through, largely involved a bunch of lesbians completely ignoring the presentation of a person presenting themselves as male in order to insist that they were definitely, definitely, definitely a girl (and being mistreated by being forced to present as male). Whether or not the characters themselves were lesbophobic in general or just parodies I can’t say because that’s not a genre I’m into, but from where I’m sitting, it felt like yet another conversation with a very specific group of real-world lesbians who hold those same beliefs and would like to think they speak for all lesbians. The Zuka club didn’t feel like a parody to me, they felt like terfs, and presenting the (thus far) only lesbian characters in the show as in line with terfs doesn’t feel nice to watch.

You're looking in the wrong place. JAFFers don't tend to hang around AO3. They have their own hangouts, or they self publish. It's a different fandom culture. Most AO3 Austen fic is probably written for exchanges. This might have what you are looking for? I thought Harry Potter was bad for this, but I hadn't yet experienced series!Good Omens fandom.

Like I’ll happily agree that Neil and Terry have both created some wonderful writing and I know from experience that writers throw in things that seem straightforward and actually have deeper meaning (ask me about the way James, Tai, and Qrow use names in Hallmarks sometime) and so I equally know how much fun it is to have people pick up on those things, but, like. There’s a line, people! Sometimes the curtains are yellow because that matches the wallpaper.
