David Bowie for his Ziggy Stardust tour, his stage outfits designed by Kansai Yamamoto.

The designer was a big fan of the concept of basara, which is a Japanese term for extravagance, excess, and eccentricity, and was also inspired by the Japanese theatre form of Kabuki.

He also said he dressed Bowie as he would dress a woman, as a result on most of his outfits you would not see a zipper in the front. The outfits were also designed with “snaps” to help in switching between outfits between sets.
