There are layers to this parallel tho!! 💖😁

1. The way that Karen comes in and tells Keith that she’s not going to her son Lucas’ Basketball game and then in the second gif Haley comes in and we see that she is going to her son Jamie’s Basketball game. One of the reasons for Karen not going being her fraught relationship with the father of her child...Dan. Haley is going to Jamie’s game with one of Dan’s sons... Nathan who is the love of her life/husband/father of her child. That parallel really underlines the difference between Nathan and his father. Dan abandoned his child and was physically and/or verbally abusive to both of his sons. But Nathan is there for his children and loves his wife. He truly broke that cycle of abuse and we see that beautifully shown in this parallel. If Nathan had been a lesser guy or if a few different choices had been made, you can see how it could very well have been Lucas going to the game with Haley in season 9. That would have been a more one to one or on the nose parallel. Instead the OTH writers decided to show a narrative that is more compelling and interesting. To see a woman get the dream... you know a career, a fulfilling romantic relationship, and two wonderful children. To see a man choose to be a better person than his father and to give his children the fatherly relationship that he never had. 

2. The way that Haley subtly references Nathan in the first gif almost as a reason that Karen isn’t going to the game and then in the second she’s married and in love with Nathan and going to watch their son’s Basketball game with each other and their daughter Lydia.

"No Marcelo you promised me! , you said this was it , that you were done with all the moving around , sneaking with your Whores!" Luisa yelled as Carlo listened from his bedroom , covering his small ears didn't help at all.

"Shut it , Que he dicho de que me digas que hacer puta!"Marcelo exclaimed smacking the woman.

"You know what?, if you want me so bad , i'll give to you." Marcelo said with a calm voice , his expression dark.

"No Marcelo! , No , No , Lo siento , please don't!" Luisa yelled out in tears as he yanked her by her hair , dragging her to their bedroom ,Carlo shut his eyes tight as He heard his Mother's screams of Pain , and fathers groans of pleasure.

The Boy's breathing was uneven , his eyes shut closed , and arms hugging his 

moose plushie , Sammie .

"Sammie, ¿cómo es que la policía no salva a mamá? Tampoco la escuchan, papá simplemente les da dinero y se van, adiós, pensé que eran los buenos." Carlo whispered as He heard his Father make the same noise he made when he finished , still hearing his mothers cries.

"Im Lucas , I haven't seen you here before!" A boy about a year older said scaring him.

"My dad made me try out for the team." Carlo said , his uniform was a bit big on him , and he was the smallest on the little league.

The other boys would tease him and pick him up , saying he was as light as a feather.

"Well im Lucas , Lucas Scott." Lucas said , holding his fist out for a fist bump,not saying anything about the boy's busted lip , not wanting to scare him off.

"My name is Carlo Delgado, but you can call me Rico." The smaller boy said returning the fist bump.

"LUCAS!" A little girl around their age said rushing over,taking in the other boy's appearance , a busted lip , and cut up knuckles if you looked close enough.

"Oh hi ! , Im hayley , Hayley James , And your our friend now!" She said Pulling the two boys with her.

And that was the day the three became attached ar the hip.

Until Lucas moved , the rumors of being Dan Scotts bastard being very true , and becoming too much.

However that didn't stop Hayley and Carlo from chatting up a storm on the phone or webcams , Carlo and Hayley had their special tree , they ended up sharing their first kiss , it was innocent , and the two four year olds were disgusted after , saying that they would always be friends nothing more.

Their Mothers however thought differently , saying they might get married one day.

He left! Marcelo Delgado left town , Luisa and Carlo were free , left divorce papers on the table , Luisa changed her name back to Galindo , Legally Carlo was still a Delgado , however , he went by his mothers last name throughout for half of his childhood.

The boy quit the little league ,

gained a healthy amount of weight , he was healthier and happier , so was Luisa , and everyone noticed , thats when the truth came out.

Marcelo Delgado was a abusive sadist , a rapist pig , however the police were paid off by him many times.

Too many that no arrest was ever nor could ever be made Against the man.

But Carlo was Safe and that was all that Luisa cared about.

Luisa met someone , his name was Antonio , Or Toni , by his gang , Which made Luisa weary of him , Untill Carlo litterly ran into him , after running from a dog , and climed the man like a tree , leaving the gang members confused.

As She rushed to the man , she grabbed the child , the dog looking into his soul , The culprit was a small yorkie , with a small pink bow on it's head.

"Yo Rosie , I told you to stop chasing people." One of the members said picking up the dog.

"Uh I mean , This is my sisters mutt." The man said as he got a pointed look by the oldest of the group.

Im Nero , The one your boy climed like a tree is Toni , Dog boy is named Polo , Spook , Matches , and Cookie." The oldest said , The child laughed when he said Cookie , being the fact the man was large , and like all the men , had tattoos.

"But your not a cookie!" The boy laughed as The man made funny faces at him.

Toni had stepped forward , and somthing between the gang member and mother clicked .

That day forward it wasn't only them but a whole new chapter had started , with a lot of new family , but gang life comes with a price.

Luisa and Antonio eneded up getting married , Carlo adored his stepfather and new uncles and New grandfather , they taught him to fix cars , uncle matches shared old tribal medications and dances that mezmorised him ,Uncle Polo was into spiritual stuff , Uncle cookie taught him to fight , uncle spook taught him how to get away with murder , not litterly , but he knew what to do in case , Grandpa Nero taught him how to swim and hold his breath under water for a long time , and Antonio ? , he was the best father in the whole world , taught him everything that Marcelo never did.

age 12 :

At twelve years old Antonio gave Carlo his old motorcycle , with a lot of begging and puppy dog eyes from both boys , the Now pregnant Luisa allowed it.

Luisa Galindo was Now Luisa Mendoza , Glowing more than ever , She was loved by all the members of Los segadores de calaveras(The skull reapers).

Many feared them , but there not so bad once you get to know them.

When the Baby came it was a joy to Everyone , the gang , and the town of Tree hill.

Baby Sirena Galindo Mendoza was The happiest baby , and loved her Brother , especially his singing voice , the gang thought the boy had the voice of an angel.

Sirena was a happy baby , the only time she cried was when Carlo left for School.

Untill everything change a week after her birth , A shoot out happened with a rival gang , Her father was dead , along with Polo , Matches got his leg amputated , and Spook now walked with a slight limp , the others were okay , with wounds of their own.

Luisa lost a husband , The gang lost two brothers , Nero Lost his only child , and the children lost their Father.

And that was the Past Of Carlo Galindo Delgado , The boy that will do everything in his power to make his family proud

I may have already made a post about this but I don't think I have so I thought I'd take the chance. I have these rants or thoughts in my head and sometimes I just have to get them down in writing or I'll be playing it in my head all day lol

I feel like the One Tree Hill writers room went to work and the first thing they said was "This show is not going to be Dawson's Creek and we are going to make that clear at every turn."

The first thing I think about is the Lucas and Haley friendship. They even went out of there way to separate Lucas/Haley from Dawson/Joey by making Haley make disparaging jokes about Dawson and Joey in the Pilot. I really respect the decision to make Lucas and Haley only friends and they never wavered from that. There was never even a second when they hinted that their relationship could be more than friends.

In some ways Nathan and Haley are equivalent from Pacey and Joey in One Tree Hill and they made the decision of getting Nathan and Haley together and then never really breaking them up. Unlike the Pacey and Joey model where there was the stupid love triangle with Dawson and they broke them up and got them together and broke them up again. Pacey and Joey really deserved better writers. Pacey and Joey have some of the best chemistry in TV and the writers did not know how to utilize that treasure.

The female friendships are absolutely atrocious in Dawson's Creek. I mean is there really a female friendship? I mean I guess Jen and Joey but even that was littered with tension most of the time and even after they buried the hatchet Joey would put men above Jen all the time. Like when she started dating the guy who cheated on Jen and then when Jen tried to help her she was really mean to Jen. I blame the writers for that. That is atrocious! Write better female friendships you cowards. In One Tree Hill, the friendships certainly have their ups and downs but you have Haley and Brooke, Brooke and Peyton, Haley and Peyton, Deb and Karen. Every woman on the show has at least one really great female friendship.

The fact that OTH never killed off any of the original teenage characters as in Nathan, Haley, Brooke, Lucas, Peyton, Skills, Mouth. Dawson's Creek just had to be assholes and kill off Jen in the last episode. But I really think giving all of them happy endings was really a concerted effort to be different from Dawson's Creek. And the reason I believe that is that they even brought on James Van Der Beek in a small role where he played a director... kind of a wink to his character in DC and he's talking to Lucas about his book that's going to be turned into a movie. It's something that's so similar to DC. Both Dawson and Lucas wrote books, movies, or TV shows about their lives. James' character has this to say "All right, clear your head, all right? What if Haley... Dies? I'm saying think about it. People love that stuff." You can tell that sometimes the writers are poking fun at some of the Dawson's Creek writing choices and I fully support it lol

The writers on One Tree Hill weren't always great and there was certainly one completely rotten apple in that bunch... cough M*** S****** cough but it really seemed like they went into writing the show with the intentions that it was gonna be better than Dawson's Creek in every way. Now if only there could have been a Dawson's Creek/One Tree Hill crossover and we could have seen Pacey and Joey show up in OTH then it would have been perfect lol
