Kashmir Great Lakes Trek is a seven night eight days high altitude Alpine Lakes Trek, which starts in the Sonamarg area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. A crossover trail through northern Himalayan ranges, passing via more than seven high altitude alpine lakes and mountains like Harmukh and Zajibal pass. There are six campsites in Kashmir Great Lakes Trek. Shitkadi, Nichnai, Vishansar, Gadsar, Satsar, Gangabal. The first campsite shitkadi which is around 70 km from Srinagar, located on the bank of the river Sindh near Sonamarg, serves as the basecamp for the KGL Trek.

The second Campsite on the Great Lakes Trek is Nichnai, a perfect camping site accompanied by Nichnai river and spots like Table-top. Nichnai is 10kms away from basecamp Shitkadi and takes five to six hours to reach there.

The third-day campsite Vishnusar, is 12 kms from Nichnai. During this day the first Alpine Lake, Vishansar will be explored.

The fourth campsite in KGL Trek is Gadsar, 13kms from Vishnusar. During this Day the second Alpine Lake in KGL trek, Krishansar will be explored, to reach Gadsar from Vishansar, the Gadsar pass 4876m, needs to be crossed. While Trekking towards Gadsar from Vishnusar, the iconic Gadsar Lake falls on the way after crossing Gadsar pass. The Gadsar Lake is the perfect spot for capturing photos n videos.

The fifth campsite in KGL Trek Satsar lies 9kms away from gadsar. The word sat-sar means seven lakes, “sat” means seven & “sar” means lakes. During this day all the seven small alpine lakes of satsar will be explored.

The sixth and the Destination campsite in Kashmir Great Lakes Trek Gangabal lies 12kms away from Satsar. The day starts assecnding zajibal pass 4300m and then descending the same towards Gangabal. On reaching the top of Zajibal peak, the mesmerizing Twin Lakes of Gangabal will be visible. The Gangabal Twins are the two high altitude Alpine lakes located in the foothills of Mt. Harmukh.

The last Day in the KGL trek is to hike downhill for Naranag; the endpoint of the KGL Trek, 15 kms from Gangabal. On the last day of the Kashmir Great Lakes Trek, there are some beautiful spots also present like the Trunkhol pine forests and the centuries-old hindu temples in Naranag made by Pandavas earlier. Attabad Lake is a glorious and pristine body of water located in the middle of nowhere and surrounded by the mountainous terrain of the Hunza Valley region. It is as still as an ancient tree and the blue of the water puts the sky to shame. Its creation is wrapped in tragedy and loss as it is the result of a landslide that drowned an entire village by the name of Gojal Village. Shah Allah Ditta Caves

These glorious caves of antiquity are located in an area called D12 in the capital city of Islamabad. These caves will transport you back to the golden age of the Buddha as they have been archaeologically defined as belonging to an era that goes back at least two thousand years. The trees have roots that stretch hundreds of feet into the ground and some of the trees are so old that extravagant bundles of roots hanging from the branches themselves.
