OC Kiss: Reach (Kei/Matiu, Pillars of Eternity)
Kei growled softly as her shoulder pressed the baseboard and the small piece of steel remained just beyond her fingertips. Come on, Tangaloa damn you. She was so lost in her determination she didn't hear the approaching footsteps.
Toes nudged her side, and a highly amused voice asked, "Do I want to know?"
She looked up to see Matiu, arms crossed and eyes twinkling. "Dropped a rivet for the hilt I'm working on. It rolled... under... here..." she strained, biting her lip as if concentration could make her arm another inch or so longer.
"Don't you have a whole little bucket of those?" Matiu sat down next to her.
"These are custom," Kei groaned, arm still inside the wall. "Client paid extra to have their family heraldry etched on. It was a headache to do that much detail so small and I'd rather not need to do it again."
"Ah, so that's why I walked in to my wife sprawled full-length on the smithy floor and losing a battle with the wall," he teased. "You almost kicked over Gera's quenching bucket, you know."
Kei glanced back--sure enough, her left foot was centimeters from the large black bucket. "Well. Good thing it's almost." She freed her arm and sat back. "Could you try, Mati? Please? Seeing as I'm not having any luck, and you have longer reach than me?"
Matiu chuckled. "I'm also incredibly weak to you saying please."
"That too," she said with a laugh, leaning in to give him a quick kiss before shuffling out of the way.
Fortunately the hole was large enough to accommodate his arm, and after a few moments' grumbling strain he sat back with the small silvery rivet gleaming in his palm.
"My hero," she joked, straddling his lap as she took the rivet. She curled one hand tight around it, the other cupping his jaw. She leaned in for a kiss. "What would I do without you?"
Matiu was laughing as he kissed her back. "I'm sure you would manage, dearest," he murmured against her lips.
Kei hummed a disagreement and wrapped her arms around his neck to kiss him again.

Small Hands 10: Ghan-buri-Ghan of the Druedain
Tumblr media
To be totally candid, I had some hesitancy to address today's designated hero: Ghan-buri-Ghan of the Druedain. Ghan is an awesome dude, as we'll discuss further below, and he unquestionably fits the brief of what we're looking for here--someone who is often overlooked or marginalized and yet accomplished or set in motion world-altering events through their actions and words. But Tolkien's characterization of Ghan is also unquestionably problematic. The fetishization of Ghan and the "wild men" is pretty apparent in the text, and the application to the Druedain of broad, cliched stereotypes of indigenous communities does what broad, cliched stereotypes always do: they flatten nuanced, textured individuals and groups into a single representation that does not and cannot reflect anything close to reality. So we should acknowledge that.
In addition, because Ghan falls firmly into the so-called "noble savage" trope (a name that by itself makes me feel squicky), the very act of praising him for his (many!) positive attributes can contribute to/reinforce the trope. But to ignore him also feels wrong, as it denies the very real and important impact he has and erases him from the story entirely. So, this is where we landed. We're going to praise Ghan for his contributions, as we should, while also keeping all of this context and nuance in mind at the same time. Got it? Great!
Ghan is the leader of a group of Druedain who live in a forested area northwest of Minas Tirith and are seemingly intended to evoke traditional ideas of native/indigenous culture. Despite the fact that his people have an extremely fraught relationship with the Rohirrim and Gondorians (who, we are told, have at times hunted the Druedain "like beasts"), Ghan logically reasons that their fate would be even worse if Sauron and his servants were to have total control. As a result, he temporarily sets aside his grievances against the Rohirrim and allies himself with them--but in exchange for a promise that the persecution of the Druedain will end if Sauron is defeated. As such, Ghan finds a way to make his decision simultaneously pay benefits both to his own community and the world at large--that's good leadership!
Ghan easily proves himself an adept and trustworthy ally. He effectively communicates in a language that isn't native to him (while Ghan has learned the Common Speech, the Rohirrim haven't got the first clue how to speak or understand the Druedain's language) and he does it while constantly having to waste his time pushing back on the Rohirrim's consistent tendency to condescend to him. He has battlefield intelligence that far exceeds that of Rohan, and he stops them from blundering into an ambush by a portion of Sauron's army that is awaiting them further ahead on the road to Gondor. He uses his vast knowledge of the forest to help them circumvent that army, and he personally escorts Theoden through the woods as a guarantee of his good faith. And as a last act before departing, he gives the first notice of the change in the wind that portends Aragorn's ultimate arrival with reinforcements at the harbor. Not bad for a day's work!
Without Ghan's intervention, the Rohirrim would never have made it to the Pelennor Fields. There would be no ride of the Rohirrim. There would be no victory at Minas Tirith or subsequent march to the Morannon. He is literally the key to all that follows. And while we are told that King Elessar acts to reward the Druedain after his coronation by granting them protection and autonomy within their forest, that just doesn't seem sufficient recognition for the magnitude of their deeds. Despite the complexities and problems in the characterization of Ghan, he is inarguably a hero who deserves glory, even if he himself wouldn't want or seek such a thing!

Words are very necessary when you're talking about Depeche Mode and their frontman, David “Dave” Gahan (born David Callcott; 9 May 1962)   When Depeche Mode's music comes on, I can't help but notice Dave Gahan’s voice, lyrics, and band's music.    I worked with a guy(Joey something) who referred to Depeche Mode as  "Depressed Mode”. It shows how Depeche Mode can make nice danceable songs and songs with heavy lyrics written by Gahan.  He has been singing as the frontman for  30 years he is ranked 73 on Q Magazine’s"100 Greatest  Singers" and he ranked 27 on,“ 100 Greatest Frontman”. I agree with both of those rankings. Depeche Mode. Gahan is a passionate performer and he is just passionate about his music. Ghan is a key and influential player in genres synthpop, dance, and darkwave music.

Sunday 18 April
We were on the road a little earlier than usual and soon met up with a couple (Dad and adult Daughter, we think) going the other way. We had seen almost no other cars on this road, but they hailed us down and asked if we had seen the other two cars in their party of three vehicles. We had, just a few minutes earlier, so they were not far ahead of us and this car had obviously passed them without recognising them. We knew of a side road up to the Strzelecki Track and suggested that their companions may have taken that route, but it was in the opposite direction they wanted to go – to Lyndhurst rather than Innamincka. They turned around and we let them pass us while they raced off to find their friends – only for us to pass them again 30-40 clicks ahead where they were again studying their maps and GPS. We stopped again and used Heather’s Maps.me app to give them the lie of the land because they couldn’t understand their own GPS. Off they went again and we caught up with them and their travelling companions at the junction with the Strzelecki. They had finally found each other, having probably never been more than 10 clicks apart and having passed each other at least once, possibly twice. I have an excellent navigator aboard so I hope we never get into the sort of pickle they seemed to have succumbed to.
The Strzelecki was something of a disappointment! We drove it 191 kilometres west to Lyndhurst and at least half of it was sealed with a good deal more prepared and ready for sealing. I reckon the government, all governments, should just decide to seal the entire surface of Australia and be done with it. There is so little adventure left in the Outback and we are continually hearing stories of the Outback Way, the Plenty Highway, the Tanami and who knows what else being sealed. It is just so sad!!! It will change the face of the Outback once the luxury hotels and resorts are built to take advantage of the bustling tourist traffic on all the sealed freeways (probably tollways!) – totally destroying the last vestige of romance, excitement and challenge. Within a very few years, there will be no authentic Outback to see and explore. If you want to learn about the Outback, do it now or it will be too late.
We had a few more stops along the way and at one place, I heard water dripping onto the road and found that the tap on one of our water tanks had been broken off when a stone flew up and hit it. I plugged it with 'Blue-tack' but doubted if it would hold (and it didn’t).
We were going to get fuel at Lyndhurst, but the bowser was not working and would be fixed in a few days. So we went south to Copley – alas, it was Sunday and the bowser there was closed too. So we ended up at Leigh Creek again, close to 50 kilometres south of Lyndhurst when we wanted to go north, but at least we got fuel. We booked into the Caravan Park at the service station so we could have showers, only to find we had to return to the servo to get the code for the ablution block.
We then found that another stone had broken the inlet hose to our water tanks so we have had to rely on our own tanks and the DC pump in the van ever since. Fortunately, we figured we had plenty of water to last us to Alice Springs so it was not going to delay us while we arranged repairs - at some unknown location!
It is interesting that we always have hundreds of small gravel stones rolling around on the car roof, making it difficult to open the back because they get lodged in the joint between the door and the roof. Every horizontal surface under the car and van is chockers with similar stones, often quite a lot larger, but the only way they can get onto the roof of the car is to be flicked up onto the sloping front of the van and bounce the 2-3 metres forward onto the car roof. There is plenty of evidence of minor stone damage on the van so I don’t suppose it is all that surprising.
A car and trailer turned up a few minutes after we arrived in the caravan park and the woman pleaded with me to tell her the code for the ablution block because she was desperate to use the toilet. I was reluctant because I thought it was a con, but eventually agreed – and they never returned to the servo to pay for their stay in the park. But next day, they wanted to empty their Portaloo and found the dump-point was padlocked. We never had a key so when she asked me for one, I redirected her to the servo and an hour later she returned, presumably having been forced to pay for the night in order to get the key to the dump-point.
We had a loquacious busybody parked next to us at Leigh Creek who was very eager to tell us all the things we were doing wrong and where we should go instead of what our plans involved, but I eventually escaped him and hid out in the van instead. And he left well before us next morning so I avoided most of his ramblings then too.
Monday 19 April
We needed to exchange our empty gas bottle for a full one so went to the servo only to find that the dust had clagged up the padlock on our gas bottle and I had to use some bolt-cutters to cut the lock off. Dearest gas ever at $50 a bottle – usually under $30. (I subsequently had to cut the clogged padlock off our second gas bottle too!)
Our first stop was Farina – the ruins of what was once a sizeable town of well over 300. There were lots of ruins around of shops, a smithy, school, hardware outlet, train station and yards, a bank, mill, bakery, etc., but in 1955 everyone simply walked away and left the place to crumble in their wake. We have seen quite a few places like this, mainly based around a single industry or service (telegraph or train station, for example), but this was a significant diverse township with a Council and local laws – yet within a single year, it became a deserted, heavily-vandalised ruin. Where did everyone go? What did they do in their new abodes? If they left everything behind, how did they survive? It is not much more than 50 years ago, certainly well within my lifetime, and it seems so hard to understand how people simply decided to leave en masse and how they survived afterwards. It certainly gives me cause for thought.
And why are all such buildings so heavily vandalised? Vandals will wreck anything, but most of the wrecked buildings we saw were made out of stone, often constructed of two layers with an air-gap between and up to about 6-700mm thick. What induces vandals to demolish such structures? It would be bloody hard work for no reward. One of the sidings we saw beside the old Ghan track had been left in such a state that I could have given some of the walls a gentle push and the entire wall and roof would have collapsed on me. It looked quite dangerous so why would anyone deliberately leave a building in such a precarious condition? Some very strange people inhabit this world!
We stopped in Marree to fill out our Northern Territory border forms. It took almost an hour – and they were never even looked at. So much bureaucracy for so little benefit. I have probably always been something of a bureaucrat myself but hopefully, always for a purpose. This Covid thing seems simply to always have been a device to keep the population under the thumb of the politicians.
Marree is at the eastern end of the famous Oodnadatta Track (and at the southern end of the Birdsville Track that we drove a few years ago) and the road itself was probably in better condition than it has been for any of our earlier 3-4 crossings. It is more than 600 kilometres of gravel and ends at Marla on the sealed Stuart Highway. We stopped at several places that day: a couple of defunct railway sidings (from when the Ghan paralleled the road en route to Alice Springs) as well as a few dry riverbeds and occasional watercourses, looking at plants and looking for the very elusive birds – of which there have been very few so far this trip. Surprisingly, at one expansive patch of water, I saw a flock of Silver Gulls (500+ km from the ocean), an Australasian Grebe, some Pacific Black Ducks and some Little Black Cormorants – as well as the usual Budgerigars – many more of them than I can recall on previous trips, but many fewer Zebra Finches.
We stopped to photograph some of the Art in the Desert, quirky stuff erected by a local pastoralist who decided that there needed to be more entertainment along the Track. It is just a string of quaint installations a couple of clicks long on his property beside the Track. I will post a couple of pics if I can find them.
Tumblr media
We camped overnight at Coward Springs. Literally an oasis in the desert with an extensive permanent wetland that is the habitat of quite a few waterbirds, despite us not seeing any this trip. There were about 150 people there overnight: very different from our previous visits, and a nice little earner for the current owners at $15 a head (plus $10 a head for day visitors). Mind you, there is a lot of work for them to do, just the two of them looking after a big area with diverse challenges not encountered at most ‘resorts’. There are several big date palms there and on our first visit several years ago, we picked some and put them in our pockets for later – needless to say, our pockets ended up full of a dusty gooey mess that was quite inedible. Once bitten…… so we never indulged this time.
Before dinner, I walked to the natural hot spa but never went in. It is not all that big and there was a family already in it so adding us (even if we had wanted) would have made it a bit crowded. I strolled around the edge of the wetland hoping to see some of its inhabitants, but although I was almost constantly regaled with a cacophony of gentle squeaks and squawks from the reeds and shrubbery, I saw only Crested Pigeons.

Living Fossils {2}
The group of explorers made their way back to the shuttle and entered, chattering excitedly about their findings and what might yet lay in store. One by one they entered the cramped shower facilities to wash off the toils of the day, and finally gathered in the helm.
As everyone sat down in turn, Doctor Ghan busied himself with the report to Allnex, while Codru poured over the pictures of the site on a combipad with Murien, each pointing with long fingers at various points of interest as they spoke in a low mutter.
By the time everyone had gathered again, Doctor Ghan had finished his report and sent it off to the ship in orbit. He cleared his throat to gather everyone's attention as Hyupi sat down, still toweling off her tendrils from the shower. "Ahem, welcome back everyone. I know we're all tired so I'll make it brief before we retire for some proper sleep." The doctor eyed Kenta as he mouthed, "Thank the stars." to Hyupi, who smirked in response. The doctor continued regardless. "I would be lying if I were to say I wasn't excited. It's not often we-"
His sentence was broken off by the insistent beeping from the console behind him. The rest got a bit closer as the Doctor smiled and hit the answering key. A new face, upside down, came over the screen.
The doctor looked aghast. "Epan, why in the world is the gravity field off? Is the ship damaged?"
Epan, gangly even for their race, blinked back in brief confusion before his face broke out in a smile. "Ah, naw Doc, she's fine. But you know how the negative sound sets my nerves off, and with no one else up here, I just thought…"
Ghan was visibly relieved, but his tone was still stern for the younger technician. "Yes, well, that's fine and all if nothing's wrong, but would you please orient yourself right side up to the screen?"
Epan cheekily and slowly turned two loops in the air, waving at the others as Ghan looked on with a fake air of weariness. Once Epan was right side up to the screen, Ghan continued. "You rang, Epan?"
"Oh, right! Yeah, is this report for real? You found a Class A? That's amazing!"
Ghan nodded, "Yes, and I was about to mention that it's not often we have this opportunity to explore an untouched, late Class A Civilization structure that is so well preserved. I suspect that once Allnex receives my report in a day or so that it will take to traverse the techweb, that we will be flooded with scientists clamoring over our find in a week!"
Epan looked to the side of the screen sheepishly. "Well, about that doc… unfortunately, we are a little dark up here with the techweb. The antenna's on the fritz and my baby ain't being nice back to me, so Allnex won't be getting any news for a while."
Kenta piped up from the back of the group. "Could it be pirate jammers? I don't know when this sector was last sweeper for them.'
Epan shook his head, his body tilting a bit awry from the motion before a hand reached out to steady himself. "Nah, it's nothing like that. Sector scans are clear, and I did post-jump diagnostic runs when we first popped in, that was all green. But it's me we're talking about, I can get her squawking again in no time!"
Ghan nodded in thought, and looked briefly at the others in the group before turning back to the screen. "I'm sure you will. But in the meantime, be on the alert, the scans may have missed something behind one of the system moons or in the asteroid belt. We will talk later. Be good up there and keep the bunks warm for our return!"
Epan saluted, "You got it Doc. I'll even warm up the fahn rolls for us all when you get back! Over and out."
The screen faded to black as Ghan turned back fully to the others. "This means that the sooner we get the choicest artifacts for study, the sooner we can go home and get the most credit for our intrepid work… and, of course, be paid handsomely." The doctor nodded to the two mercenaries, and then clapped his hands in anticipation. "But we need to rest, so we get started as soon as we can tomorrow. Goodnight, and good work today, everyone!"
All began to shuffle to their respective bunks. The accommodations were rather cramped on the landing shuttle, so there were typically two to a room, such as the one Codru and Saffer shared. As Saffer prepared for bed, he gazed sidelong at Codru in the upper bunk, the light from the combipad lighting up his face and the bulkhead behind him, the former of which was scrunched up in concentration.
Saffer's curiosity got the best of him as he jokingly asked, "What are you thinking about so hard that you look like a wounded Gorhax?"
Codru, so concentrated on his thoughts, barely registered the jibe. "Just trying to translate the alien script from the pad. The script is very unique so the translation program isn't getting very far at all, and I don't even want to talk about my manual attempts. Have you taken xenolinguistics?" Codru looked down from his bunk hopefully.
Saffer tilted his head, "I can speak a little Zenthian from my primary days, but I haven't had the prerequisites to take that class yet."
Codru looked back at the pad in disappointment. "That's alright. Given the amount of species out there -- let alone their scripts and all the variants -- it's a tad broad, but Dr. Juil makes it pretty fun. I only got a B- though, and I think she was being kind to me on that- ugh, damn!"
Saffer, who had slipped into his bottom bunk, could only see the light above wink in and out before the room plunged completely into darkness, and hear the sound of Codru tapping hard on the combipad. "What's wrong?"
"Hm, this Allnex piece of tech trash, it won't hold a charge or something! I might dig through the storage and see if there is a new one tomorrow. I really don't want to have this issue in the middle of the dig."
Saffer yawned, and laid his head back down on the bedding. "Oh, ok. If it does happen again tomorrow, you could use mine if you need to. Goodnight!"
Codru fiddled with the pad a little more, but eventually tossed it toward his feet in disgust and defeat. Closing his multicolored eyes, the senior student eventually joined his younger companion below in the realm of sleep.
Several minutes later, the combipad's screen lit up once more, and in milliseconds slipped past the code screen to the linguistic program beyond. The progress bar, which had been stuck at no more than 2% for the last several hours, suddenly jumped to 34%, and over the image of the pad their language dropped into place somewhat translucently over the alien script.
"W*lcom* to th* ***. Pl**s* imp*t **thoriz*tion."
The small room went dark once more, while over the soft sound of the two occupants snoring, there was only the hum of the ship and the omnipresent scraping and tapping of debris against the hull outside.
_______________________________
The stamping of feet on hull preceded the shouting which echoed along the short hallway, "Doctor Ghan! Doctor Ghan!" The owner of the name looked up from his morning tea in amazement at the disheveled figure of the usually unexcitable Codru, who was holding his combipad in front of him with elation clear on his face.
Ghan, with his browplates raised almost as far as they could extend said, "Codru, what in Navek's name has got you so excited?"
Handing his combipad to the Doctor, once he had gotten some composure back he exclaimed, "Look at that! Last night it wasn't getting anywhere, but the translation software finally came through while we were sleeping."
Ghan briefly looked over the picture of the door pad, the alien letters now partially transposed with letters of their own language. He looked up at Codru and the others who had gathered to the commotion with a grin. "This is excellent! Then the faster we get out there, the faster we can plumb the depths of this little mystery, so to speak!"
Murien, who was gazing at the screen over the doctor's shoulder asked, "Do we have an idea what the contents might be then? What it's welcoming us to?"
Both Ghan and Codru shook their heads, the former responding, "No, there isn't enough info just yet for us to even guess." He sipped a last hurried gulp of his tea before standing up, "So let's get out there and find out, shall we?"
The rest agreed, and within forty-five minutes the group were suited up and on their way, struggling through the early morning winds. However, it wasn't very long before Hyupi stopped the procession with a hand signal of warning. Over the helmet comms she commanded, "Kentu, cover our rear, there is something in the sand ahead."
While the rest kneeled in wait, Hyupi carefully moved up to her target: a half-buried sphere of rusted metal with various antennas, cracked camera lenses, sensors, and propulsion systems.
The rest of the survey team witnessed as she swept her carbine over what little of the landscape was visible through the storm, which had abated a little since their setting out. Finally they heard the crackle of her voice over the comms say, "Alright, all clear. Seems like a nonfunctioning probe."
The group moved forward to her position, gathering around the probe, which had a drift of sand built up to one side. Saffer kneeled down again to examine it closely. "Ooh, Doctor, is this another example of this civilization's technology?"
Ghan pulled out his combipad and a sensor pack, taking readings of the probe. The rest had to wait a few minutes while he looked over the results. "I… I don't believe so. It isn't nearly as old as the building, the dating shows only a century or so, and of a different material structure entirely. Does anyone see any markings?"
Saffer and Hyupi dug around the probe, exposing more of its body. Saffer was the one that found the remains of a red triangle, with an inner line of symbols. "Here's something, but I don't know what."
Kentu's voice now sounded over the comms channel, "I do, I've used their tech before on missions. That belonged to the old Erzeni Corporation, they used to make all sorts of military-grade equipment."
Murien looked back at him, "Used to?"
Kentu nodded, "Eh, they've been out of business for decades. I've only used surplus leftovers. But they were dependable despite their age, which makes sense considering it's a Scaanid company."
Ghan looked at the probe and Kentu questioningly. "Are you sure Kentu? We're practically on the other side of the galaxy from the Scaanid Empire, there would be no reason for a probe of theirs here."
Kentu shrugged imperceptibly through the bulk of his suit. "I'm pretty sure, doc. I probably still have a thing or two of theirs in storage to compare. Maybe it was a wayward one that happened to crash here."
Saffer interjected, "I don't think it came from space. It would have been flattened and broken apart if it had, with a larger crater. With its condition, it didn't fall more than a hundred feet, right Doctor?"
Ghan was very lost in thought, but Saffer's question seemed to wake him. "Hmm? Oh, yes, quite possibly. Let's get some pictures taken of this and get back to our main mission before we use too much of our limited time on this. And yes, Kentu, I would like to compare the markings when we get back."
The rest of the trip was uneventful, fortunately, and soon the group returned to the imposing metal structure. It didn't take much more digging to uncover the door again from the night's accumulation against their earlier work. They once more were confronted by the pad, which lit up at the mere touch of a brush clearing the sand crusting the top.
Codru retrieved his combipad from his pack, which was piled with the rest to one side while they dug into the sand, and booted up the translation program once again. Using the overlay he began to manually interact with the door pad, looking at it through the screen of his own combipad. Ghan, Saffer, and Murien were crowded around him as he worked, offering the occasional bit of advice as he did so.
"Try finding some sort of diagn-"
"Diagnostic settings, yes, that's what I'm looking for."
"Did you try that button there?"
"I'd rather not just try buttons, Murien. That never works."
"But it looked promising!"
"Make sure to record this process, Codru, we may have to figure this out again should the translation not improve."
"Of course, doctor."
His suit hampered his attempts at pushing the buttons on the screen, but once he figured out a good angle to use with the thick finger pads his attempts went much smoother. Through a multitude of screens and clumsy backtracks, eventually he was able to get to a screen with a green and red button.
* _c_ss p_th 46*
*Op_n door?*
He pressed the green one, and the six of them heard through the rushing wind around them the hiss of decompression, and the door next to the pad jolted open slightly. All patted each other on the back in joy before opening the door fully. Murien looked at Codru suspiciously, "How did you know that was the right button to press?"
Codru sniffed, and after a moment of hesitation as the group donned their packs once more, he said, "After careful consideration of the circumstances, it seemed the most logical choice."
Saffer interjected with a smile clearly visible through his helmet. "Don't you mean it looked promising?"
The older student didn't deign to respond as they entered in turn through the door.
The lights on their suits bounced off of smooth, granite grey walls and the stairs that led downward from the entrance landing. The last two in line were held up momentarily as they wrestled the door back closed, the combined strength of Kentu and Murien still straining against the difference in pressure and the sand piling up while rocks bounced off of the walls and down the stairs ahead of them all. The door closed with another hiss and squeal, the howling wind outside stifled to a low moan as the few remaining clacks of bouncing rocks echoed into the beyond. Lights embedded in the juncture of the ceiling and walls promptly lit up the stairway as soon as the door closed.
Doctor Ghan looked back towards the team above him from his position several steps down once the clattering of pebbles stopped, turning his suit lights off. "Excellent! Alright. Turn your recorders on if you haven't already, because we are stepping into the uncharted world of this newly discovered civilization, and I don't want to miss a single detail! You all know your respective jobs. With a building as ancient as this, I also need not remind you to be very careful and call out any structural faults you see near us. I'd like to first find that power source, so that will be one of our main goals of study. But keep an eye out for anything else that might be of interest. Let's move on, stay close all." With preparations and speeches finished, the team descended deeper into the unknown.

Indian Television News - the Story
Tumblr media
The caliber of the streaming is excellent, and people with a good web connection needs to be in a position to look at the TV channels without buffering. Moreover, a lot of people receive their everyday news updates from their social websites feed. You're able to actually watch all of the pc tv channels from your room without needing to leave your work unattended.
It's very difficult to control internet TV programs and you'll have the ability to watch a number of the rarest TV channels online. Television also provides the most recent and latest news. According to my perspective, it is good as well as bad but I agree that television has many more advantages than disadvantaged by these following point.
Called Catwigs, it is a set of cards to help you consider your project from other viewpoints. Indian story with respect to CCTV is a little different. A single newspaper is read by multiple individuals, thus the readership is far higher than circulation.
Newsletter writing is quite different and it's also very enjoyable. Naively that might appear to be true, but this isn't the complete story. The receptionist claims no understanding of the organization.
Infrastructure Selecting the right place in India can be rather a challenge for Multinational Companies. Hence, not only do the businesses want to offer quality products, they also ought to charge a competitive price for it. My case proved to be an easy H-1B Renewal case.
The search operation at the website is virtually over. If it's possible to compress your HTML, you might have a more compact size website. Extract data from json files using jq There's a lot of information within this json file and we only need a small section of what's there.
These killings are extremely very likely to continue, unfortunately, Birla states. The 44-year-old actress seemingly has no opportunity to think or fret about her age because she's very busy each year. Playing victim isn't going to get the job done.
On-line payments are indispensable for internet shopping. Click the date that you need to download. You might already have an account there in case you have ever applied for US VISA.
There are many different news sources by which people are updated about the recent news about movie industry in the word, likewise you can follow Hollywood updates for more information. When it has to do with news, timing is really everything. The India news has reported that there'll be rise in the purchase price of energies and other commodities which will impact the financial condition of the world.
Therefore you'll have to choose 2 newspapers to satisfy the formality. In such situations, the bacteria that resides on your scalp is the most important culprit. Using elephants as a way of execution continues until the 19th century.
Without action, you may as well forget the rest. Planting useful idiots isn't going to pay dividends. In an urban setting, girls are permitted to indulge themselves in slightly more education so long as they don't forget the greatest life-goal of being married.
It can monitor any premise, even if it is a blow to privacy, to protect the interests of the common public. Based on this, you can achieve healthier viewership figures and a great ROI. In truth, it isn't even close.
DTH doesn't compete with CAS. Western companies have a tendency to lease office spaces as an alternative to owning it. After you choose CREATE for the App you'll be given an API key.
There is a great deal of pressure on the viewers too, as they are not able to ascertain the facts. The internet had a fantastic time speaking about what a surprisingly great time The Ghan was. On the flip side, every once in a while the media will receive a hold of a huge story and you will have a feeding frenzy.

Now is the Time
In the latest PCTA Communicator magazine there is considerable space devoted to climate change and its effects on the PCT south to north. The data suggests changing times as a result of changing weather patterns. We have seen these changes profoundly impacting the trail over the past many years. Increased fire danger and inconsistent snowpacks have all contributed to the changing PCT experience. This, unfortunately, is not likely to change unless we do something about it.
Between increasing tree mortality rates due to insect infestation, drought, and fire and low to no-snow years the landscape is feeling the effects. As if those factors weren't enough, sea level rise, acidification of our oceans, flooding, and biodiversity collapse all point to climate change occurring on a massive scale.
Without going word for word from John P. O'Brien and Brad Marston's excellent article in the Communicator, a significant point that they make is this; "...climate change will affect the hiker experience..." The current trends in the data indicate that the future will continue to be warmer and wetter. This is not good for sustaining glaciers. Since 2015 California has lost one of twenty two named glaciers. In the picture below you can see a near bare Mount Shasta taken this last fall.
For PCT hikers this means the window of walking between July and October will continue to be hot and dry. Unfortunately as things continue to warm and dry there will be an increased risk of wildfire. This factor has consistently ended more than one PCT hiker's trip over the past few years. With hotter conditions this also raises the risk for hikers to experience heat related illness and/or dehydration. Even the 'traditional' start dates in April and May from Campo may simply get to be too hot and dry to venture north.
Tumblr media
What can we do? Actually we can do A LOT! We can call and write our elected officials and relay our concerns while holding them accountable for the decisions and policies they support or add their names to. We can contact community members who share our views and concerns. From those contacts we can organize action groups that can voice our shared concerns and demand powerful actions. We also have to be brave and join in difficult conversations with those skeptical members of our community. There is more common ground than either side likely realizes. If we are going to be stewards of the natural environment we must set our political differences aside. Remembering that it is the work of stewards that will ultimately make a difference for the greater environment and everyone for that matter.
In the newly published 'Crossing Paths a Pacific Crest Trailside Reader', Brad and Anna Marsten with Steve Ghan, share an imagined view of our future facing up to climate change. Their story provides a peek over a possible horizon as well as some hope for our otherwise warm, wet, and sad future. I encourage you to read theirs and all the other stories found in this new volume of the 'trailside reader'.
In order to address the future we have to imagine what we really want to find when we get there. If we can do that, while bringing others along with us, we will discover a resoluteness that is a key requirement for overcoming climate change. We must imagine and create potential solutions now more than ever.

How Can Ayurveda Benefit In Times Of Pandemic?
Tumblr media
As we as a whole know, Covid-19 hit the world truly hard last year and our lives changed totally, in the long run compelling us to remain inside.
Ayurveda has consistently assumed a part of a preventive strategy that mainly centers around day by day and occasional systems or schedules which will assist us with keeping up with our well-being.
Ayurveda's significance has become radical in the most recent one year. Everyday spices like Guduchi, kalmegh, shunti, tulsi, yashtimadhu, turmeric, and Ashwagandha Ghan go about as a solid, safe modulator. To assemble further enduring invulnerable power in the body and at last shielding us from any widespread contaminations, alleviation from the regular hack, cold, sensitivities and will help us in these difficult stretches.
The impacts of COVID-19
Statistics suggest that the illness has only had a minor impact on many people up to this date. It has the potential to make some people quite unwell. On occasion, the illness has proved fatal. The shot has gravely harmed more experienced people. Those who have had previous medical conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure, or diabetes show all the frail signs.
More than 80% of confirmed cases are thought to recover without significant problems. Nonetheless, one out of every six causes severe respiratory problems. Those who could recuperate without any complications had to deal with various issues. Being locked up in a room away from relatives and dealing with the infection's mark was essential for them. For the rest of the year, there will be worry and anxiety. You can consult any ayurvedic center or experts like Ayush doctors for such ayurvedic advice.
Symptoms of COVID-19
We want to be able to recognize COVID-19's symptoms. In our minds, each hack and fever should not be equated with a pandemic. We can ensure that we stay solid the right way when we understand what's going on.
Most common symptoms:
Fever
Dry hack
Sluggishness
More uncommon symptoms:
A throbbing painfulness
Sore throat
Looseness of the bowels
Conjunctivitis
Migraine
Loss of taste or smell
A rash on the skin or discoloration of fingers or toes
Serious symptoms:
Trouble breathing or windedness
Chest agony or strain
Loss of speech or development
Benefits of Ayurveda
There is no shortage of over-the-counter medications. We believe it is OK to consume synthetic chemicals that provide a temporary treatment. What we seem to overlook is that these synthetics come with side effects. Keeping ourselves stable today at the expense of severe consequences for our well-being tomorrow hardly seems like a reasonable compromise.
Ayurveda offers a unique understanding of how the human body functions. The ability to fight diseases and be healthy comes from within. We desire to live an ayurvedic lifestyle since it is a reliable way of living. It is impossible to overstate the importance of Ayurveda in our life.
Ayurveda is the practice of receiving homemade prescriptions from Mother Nature. Ayurveda can be a deep-rooted means of feeding your body, brain, and soul because it is free of common additives and harmful fixings.
How Ayurveda can upgrade our safe framework
Starting in India, Ayurveda is a 5,000year-old therapeutic framework. Being one of the most seasoned recuperating sciences, it incorporates spices and roots loaded up with restorative worth. Maharishi makes different spices and regular fixings to sustain the body and initiate a solid invulnerable framework. The key objective is to adjust the Vata, Pitta, and Kapha levels in the body.

OC Kiss ~ Dance
(Kei/Matiu; Pillars of Eternity)
-
The sound of the waves was like a song, and Kei couldn’t help but hum a match to the tune it created. Today had her in high spirits.
Matiu chuckled and arched a brow at her. “What are you doing?”
“Don’t you hear it?” Kei said, playfully bumping her shoulder to his as they walked. “The ocean is singing.” She hummed a few more bars, nodding her head in time with the swell of the waves.
He squeezed her hand. “Ah, yes, I do. That is just...”
“More something you’d notice than me?” she filled in, then smiled mischievously when he half-shrugged. “You’re not the only one who sees the wonder of the world, Mati. And you’ve rubbed off on me to make it even more so.”
“Been a good influence, have I?” Matiu teased, pausing to stoop and dig a conch shell out of the sand.
“You make me laugh,” Kei said simply. “You help me remember joy, in the little things. The everyday.” She waited until he stood and squeezed his hand, her head canted toward the ocean. “D’you think it’s clear enough to dance to?”
He laughed and tucked the shell in his belt satchel so he could take both her hands. “Let’s find out.”
She laughed and started humming the ocean’s rhythm again as they started to dance along the beach. By turns slow and upbeat, depending on the surf, their private dance carried them a good way up the sand from where they started.
Kei let out a gasp as Matiu abruptly dipped her low, his hands steady on on her waist and back. Her fingers dug into his hair as her grip instinctively tightened.
“Always surprising me,” she murmured once their laughter had eased, gazes locked in the moonlight.
“I like to keep you on your toes, wife,” Matiu said, grinning, as he eased them upright.
“I like you, husband,” Kei returned, her hand on his jaw to guide him in for a kiss. Their steps stumbled and slowed as it deepened.
Matiu caught his breath on a gasp when they parted. “You don’t do things by half measure, love.”
“What I care about about gets my whole heart,” she murmured, tracing his lower lip with her thumb. “And that’s you above all else.” Stole another quick kiss.  “Happy anniversary, Mati.”
He smiled as he kissed again. “Happy anniversary, Kei.”

Giloy Ghan Vati- The Power Of Natural Medicine
Giloy or Tinospora Cordifolia is one of the most powerful herbs used in Ayurvedic medicine. The stem of the plant is primarily used to prepare supplements as it is rich in nutrients and alkaloids. Besides the stem, the root and the leaves of the herb are also considered extremely useful in herbal medicine. The stems are cut into small pieces and crushed to prepare the decoction. Due to its high number of medicinal properties, Giloy is also called Amritavalli or Amrita. It is considered one of the three Amrit plants. In Sanskrit, Amrit refers to the ‘root of immortality.’ So how to use Giloy?  While you can prepare Giloy juice at home, it is a time taking process. To ensure that the goodness of the herb is easily available to you, several Ayurvedic brands have come up with Giloy supplements, like the Giloy Ghanvati. Ghan means extract and hence giloy is the key ingredient in the supplement, it is known as Giloy Ghanvati. The tonic is bitter in taste. This is one of the primary reasons why it helps to alleviate Vata and Kapha Dosha. It may also help to pacify the Pitta Dosha. Want to know more about this effective herbal supplement?  Let us know more about GILOY GHAN VATI - INGREDIENTS, COMPOSITION, HEALTH BENEFITS, USAGE, DOSAGE

David “Dave” Gahan (born David Callcott; 9 May 1962)   When Depeche Mode’s music comes on, I can’t help but notice Dave Gahan’s voice, lyrics, and band’s music. Ghan is a key and influential player in genres of synthpop, dance, and darkwave music.

Contrato Inviolável - Capítulo VI
Eu, meu primo e o sub mais fofo do mundo
Tumblr media
— V-você m-me...
Ele engoliu em seco e assentiu;
Quer dizer... Ahhhhh o que eu ‘tô dizendo! Deus, me leva...
“Ciclista?”
“Depois te conto”
E assim terminou nossa rápida conversa silenciosa e ele veio para o lado do Yuto colocando a bandeja no colo dele:
E naquele segundo o celular dele tocou.
— Nem me diga.
— Você vai me pedir em namoro?
   Longe dali, horas antes
— Me prenda na parede que você vai me satisfazer.
