Damo Suzuki and Imperial Wax, aka The Fall at the White Hotel Salford. The absolutely nailed it. I was lucky enough to meet Keiron Melling and Austin Collins author of Renegade, The lives and tales of Mark E Smith

You wouldn't last five minutes in The Fall if you're precious. It's a good way to work, knowing that anything could get binned at any moment.

Suburban Symphony Release Debut Single "Stepping Stones" On Hilltown Records
Suburban Symphony have teamed up with startup indie label Hilltown Records to release their debut single "Stepping Stones" via all major digital retailers and streaming outlets on 1st August 2017. Stepping Stones provides a great introduction to what the band is all about as it features massive vocal hooks, a stadium-worthy chorus and tasteful guitar work all combined seamlessly with lyrics that ruminate on working class aspiration and dreams of bigger things to come. Since they formed in Barnoldswick in 2014, Suburban Symphony have undertaken a busy schedule of songwriting, recording, gigging (with the likes of Bruce Foxton, The Feeling and Big Country) and have even inspired the establishment of a record label to promote their music. Hilltown Records was formed in early 2017 by Mat Arnold and Keiron Melling, after they had finished recording and mixing Suburban Symphony's debut album at Hilltown Studios. Mat and Keiron (who collectively have worked with such artists as The Fall, Peter Gabriel, Kanye West, Jay-Z, The Noisettes, Aziz Ibrahim and Tom Jones) were so happy with the finished album that they decided to form Hilltown Records and release the material themselves. Suburban Symphony's debut album will be available on CD from http//www.hilltownrecords.com and via all major digital retailers on 4th September 2017. The Fall Announce New Album With Unfortunate Song Title “Victoria Train Station Massacre”
Spoil me - I'm a DJ and I'm cute!
The Fall have announced a new album. The latest from the Manchester band is called New Facts Emerge, and it is due out July 28 via Cherry Red Records. It’s produced by frontman Mark E. Smith and drummer Keiron Melling. Included on the 11-track record is a song titled “Victoria Train Station Massacre.” A representative for Cherry Red told Clash that the title is not a reference to last week's suicide bombing at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, which occurred in a foyer connecting Manchester Arena to Manchester Victoria railway station. “The track is nothing to do with the events last week, but it is an unfortunate coincidence," the rep said. "The track was recorded and the artwork sent off for manufacture long before the terrible events in Manchester.”
In 1991, Victoria station in London was bombed by the I.R.A.

The Fall - Greenway
youtube
"The music for this is taken from a song called "Gameboy" by Greek heavy metal band Anorimoi. Greenway, of course, is Peter Greenway, the Fall's guitarist, who says the song is not about him as he really is, but as MES would like to imagine him, as some kind of badass. The song doesn't, on the face of it, seem to be about Greenway at all; his name scans the same as "Gameboy," but the rest of it seems to be about the narrator (MES?) being grumpy about other bands, a familiar enough theme. Live versions seem to indicate the band in question is These New Puritans, who are named after a Fall song, which fact alone is probably enough to attract Smith's bleary raptor gaze."
