Doja Cat Brought a Couture Glove Bag and Tequila Bottle to PFW For her latest Paris Couture Week style gag, Doja Cat kept things relatively simple with her outfit (an all-black cape look) but saved the drama for her accessory: a gloved-shaped purse wrapped around a bottle of tequila. The surreal handbag, which she brought to the Valentino haute couture show, was made from New York jewelry designer CHRISHABANA and comprises of heavily embellished pearls and delicate chainmail.Related | Doja Cat Wears Mustache and Goatee Made From False Eyelashes"I told [Chris Habana] I wanted something that felt like it was off the Paris Runway for couture but I wanted it to have a bit of a surrealist vibe to it," says Brett Alan Nelson, Doja Cat's stylist who accompanies her to the shows. "Together we ended up with this amazing glove bag, which really just hits on top of the head that it’s hard to get your hands on this couture."The bottle she carried was a Patrón El Alto, Patrón's prestige line of aged tequila. The bag also features a ring inspired by the Patrón bee."I always love some sort of organic gag, nothing that feels forced but seamless to who Doja is as a person and as an artist," said Alan Nelson. "My girl loves a tequila cocktail, so taking the idea of this couture level bottle of Patrón El Alto to Paris but making it an accessory that doesn’t leave her side.Chris Habana, the designer of the bag, added:“ Our studio had two main inspirations for the bag: One was from a West African wax print of a hand with long nails spraying a spray can while the other was from artist William Beaupre, who would take busts and embellish them with pearls and jewels creating encrusted android faces ... We also worked with fellow designer Kerin Rose Gold of A-morir to ensure that the pearl encrustation was graphic and clean. The end result is a glove/bag that can either be slung over the wearer’s or fitted on the hand.”Photography: Jacob Wester https://www.papermag.com/doja-cat-chris-habana-bag-2659314319.html

BACK IN TIME: LADY GAGA PERFORMS ON GMA
Lady Gaga took over Good Morning America’s stage at Central Park on May 27, 2011 to perform a bunch of songs from her album “Born This Way”.
This unique performance was fully styled by Nicola Formichetti and Brandon Maxwell. Set design by Marla Weinhoff. Choreography by Laurie-Ann Gibson. Hair by Frederic Aspiras and makeup by Tara Savelo, respectively.
Tumblr media
The performance started with Gaga flying over the crowd towards the stage. Her outfit was designed and created by Perry Meek.
It comprised an oversized robe jacket with cone shoulders, a white armor bolero jacket, a red catsuit with black animal patches and matching oriental chiffon headwrap.
Tumblr media
Quick costume change! Do you remember Gaga’s Armani Privé VMA night leather look? Of course you do! But what most probably not all of you know is there were two looks Mr. Armani designed for Gaga.
The other one was “black vinyl pantsuit featuring a jacket with spike details, a vest outlined with zippers, and a shirt with a large bow and wide balloon sleeves”. The spike jacket belongs to the above custom-made suit.
Tumblr media
Her black lace veil is a bespoke Oscar de la Renta piece. The same bow pattern was used on several pieces on his Spring/Summer 2010 runway.
Tumblr media
Perry Meek collaborated with Tom Tom Fashions to customize Gaga’s black  Mugler Fall/Winter 2011 sheer leopard catsuit and Pleaser ankle boots with hundreds of gold-tone studs.
Her studded bra, further embellished with chains and charms, is custom L.A. Roxx.
Tumblr media
Another layer was added to her ensemble! Her cool black fringed denim vest, embellished with gold-tone studs and gems in various colors, is a vintage 1980s Michael Morrison MX piece (similar pictured).
Tumblr media
Now about her two golden items. Firstly, the horns. These babies were custom crafted for Gaga by NYC based costume designer Sam Bennett.
Sam made them from a viking helmet that he bought at a costume store, took apart and affixed the horns to a headband. Elongated them and added to the shape of the horns with boning that he curved up and out.
The whole armature is wrapped in a very thin cotton rope to smooth out the shape. Painted gold, studded and embellished with chains in several gold tones.
The lady behind Gaga’s studded jacket is Kerin Rose Gold who, as you know, has her own label a-morir. The gold jacket was originally designed by JerMajesty and L.A. Roxx, which Kerin further customizer with studs.
Tumblr media
Finally, the dancer outfits. Both the Stardom and Restrain harnesses were custom-made by Assaad Awad and were used for several performances throughout the era.
Their distressed costumes are bespoke Ayumi Shibata for SLOW, inspired by their vintage collection.

Exclusive: Designer A-Morir Details How She Created Custom Crystal Sunglasses for Beyonce’s Black Is King Visual Album
We (and I’m sure the rest of the world) still cannot get over Queen Bey’s visual film, Black Is King. What captivated audiences the most was the film’s astounding fashion and beauty most of which were designed by Black and independent designers and styled by the talented Zerina Akers. Earlier this week, we chatted with a few designers like Alejandro Collection and Deviant la Vie who were featured in the film and shared details on their design processes.
To further add to your obsession with the film’s breathtaking fashion and style, we’ve got yet another exclusive with a designer from the Black Is King! We sat down with designer Kerin Rose Gold of A-Morir who is the creator behind Bey’s glamorous crystal sunglasses and accessories! Kerin is not new to the world of fashion as her brand has been around since 2008 and her clients include Rihanna and her Savage X brand, Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Billy Porter and Lizzo.
Get into her inspiration, preparation, and more behind her pieces:
On preparing for the shooting of Black Is King, she states “A-morir is known for really special (and really sparkly) eyewear and accessories, and Zerina Akers (Beyoncé’s longtime stylist) and I have worked together for years. She trusted that I’d have what she needed for some of these incredible moments and thankfully, I did! Everything except for the swim goggles from “Mood 4 Eva” were from a just released collection or from my archive.”
On how the designs came to be, she writes, “The crystal cat eye swim goggles were the only piece that were custom made. Without saying too much, lets just say I’m who stylist come to when they need to actualize an impossible vision, usually in a matter of days. The design concept was a revitalization and reimagination of pieces from our “Midnight Voyage” collection, and I’m so thrilled it came out as beautifully as it did.“
When asked how being apart of the film feels, she shares, “I wake up grateful every day because I get to do what I love for a living, but I’ve been soaked in a tidal wave of perpetual gratitude these last few. I’ve had some incredible career highlights;  with megastars, music videos, editorials, and films in my nearly 13 year career but this feels like the pinnacle of all of those moments in one.“
On how her business has changed since being apart of the film, she states, “While there were a lot of incredible couture moments in Black Is King there were so many major visual moments with independent fashion brands. Independent brands are rarely, if ever, worn for name recognition, so when they’re worn it’s because the designs and artistry are top tier. Every time that happens it brings not just recognition but validation to the tireless work we do. The thought of “If its good enough for Beyoncé it’s good enough for me” is real!”
That part!
Continue to keep up with us as we cover more of Black Is King‘s fashion!

After Esow Alben its Ronaldo Singh, Indian juniors cyclists claiming no. 1 spot to make their mark in world Cycling
Tumblr media
In March 2019 Esow Alben created history by becoming the first Indian to clinch the number one position in Men's Sprint and Keirin on the UCI Ranking. 10 months later, Ronaldo Singh is ranked No. 1 in all junior sprinting events while the Indian Team is also at No 1 position in Junior Team Sprint Event.
Junior cyclist Laitonjam Ronaldo Singh scripted history after he became number one in all sprinting events of Cycling in the latest UCI ranking. The Manipur boy is ranked No. 1 in Individual Sprint, Keirin, and 1 Km Time Trial while the India team are perched at the top in Junior Team Sprint Event with 1620 points.
The Indian junior men’s team currently consists of Ronaldo, Paul Collingwood and Rojit Singh. Rojit Singh is ranked 2nd in Junior Sprint and 3rd in Junior Kerin.
The Indian women’s junior team is ranked 2nd in Junior Team Sprint. Trishiya Paul is No.3 in Time Trial and Nikita is No. 2 in the Keirin. The Cycling Federation of India expressed satisfaction in a social media release, “Credit goes to our dedicated coaching team under Mr.R.K Sharma and thanks to Sports Authority of India and Honda Scooters and Motorcyles P Ltd. and T10 Sports for their unflinching support and partnering in our success.”
ESOW ALBEN
In recent times there is a commendable interest in Cycling and youngsters find their freedom with racing bikes in India.
All these recent achievements by Indian youth started with Esow Alben who created history by becoming the first Indian to top the UCI world rankings last year. Hailing from Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Alben wants to be remembered as Esow Cyclist. He was also the first Indian to win a silver medal in the Men’s Keirin event at the World Junior Track Cycling Championship held in Switzerland on August 2018.
Esow’s journey started when he won silver medals in Scratch Race and Time Trial in the sub-junior category at the 67th National Championships in Kerala in 2015. He was then picked up for training in the National Cycling Academy and hence he moved from Port Blair to New Delhi.
Being the son of sports parents, (his father Alben Didus was a cyclist and his mother Lelly Alben was a Kabaddi player) Esow Alben was interested in playing. His mother got his name enrolled at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) centre at the Netaji Stadium in Port Blair. He initially started with Rowing but his short height was not conducive enough to be a rower. So he switched to Cycling.
In 2018, Alben won 3 gold medals in Team Sprint, Keirin and 200m Time Trial at Junior Asian Track Cycling championships in Malaysia. In 2019, he carried forward his previous year’s performance by winning gold in Sprint, Team Sprint and Keirin events.
But Esow’s most matured performance till date is at the World Junior Track Cycling Championship in 2019. In Germany, Alben won silver in Individual Sprint event and bronze in Individual Keirin event. Besides, Esow alongside his teammates Ronaldo Singh and Rojit Singh, won the gold in the Team Sprint event. This was India’s best-ever performance in a world event of Cycling till date.
RONALDO SINGH
India’s Ronaldo also has magic in his feet but he has the habit of setting the Cycling track ablaze. Ronaldo was second to Esow Alben when Esow rose to number one spot. Around one year later, he overpowered his friendly rival to become numero uno in world junior Cycling.
This Ronaldo was named after Brazil’s one of the greatest Football players Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima. It was a matter of pride to Laitonjam Romen Singh that his son was born some days after Brazil won the World Cup in 2002. A die-hard Ronaldo fan, Laitonjam named his son Ronaldo to show his love and respect to his Football hero.
Soon after pivoting India to win the gold medal in Team Sprint in World Championship held in Germany, Ronaldo Singh won four gold medals in Track Asia Cup held in New Delhi in September 2019. In the tournament he smashed the Asian Record in the men’s junior 200-m Time Trial event by setting a timeline of 10.065 seconds, beating the previous record of 10.149 seconds set by China’s Li Qui.
Ronaldo also bagged a gold medal in the Men’s Junior Keirin event at the Asian Track Cycling Championships being held in South Korea in 2019.
Cycling as a sport in India has taken a huge plunge in the last 5 years. With regular medals and top positions in Junior level and commendable performance in senior level, Indian Cycling promises to have a shining future. The cyclists now have a well-maintained velodrome in the Indira Gandhi Stadium and a dedicated coach in R K Sharma. The Federation now has the sole motive to ‘Catch them Young’ and groom them for the world stage. Hopefully, there will some good results in the future by Indian cyclists in Olympics.

New year, same sad story: the climate crisis is real. As a person I feel helpless (why am I always crying?!) and as a brand owner I feel like I need to do more. So! Here's what we're doing. We have 5 rad reusable drinking receptacles: 2 coffee cups, 2 solo cups, and a flask. 100% of all proceeds for these purchases are going to the heroic volunteers at NSW RURAL FIRE SERVICES, aka: @nswrfs. I made each of these pieces to fill a personal need to create less personal waste. I use my coffee cup ever day! Sometimes twice. I bring a solo cup to parties. That may sound over the top, but it's a great single use conversation starter. Not only will this week's purchase go to a greater cause, but it will hopefully help you create thoughtful waste free habits of your own! If you don't want to buy anything that's cool! I encourage you to donate even a few dollars (links in stories!) Thank you for reading! I love you. -Kerin Rose Gold https://www.instagram.com/p/B7B2Io_lDwe/?igshid=45ew5upc96rq

I'm back from my turkey break!! Yesss! And I've got an amazing conversation for you to listen to! DOUBLE yesss!! I spoke to superstar designer Kerin Rose Gold about her love for the Muppets and The Beatles. Iconic subject matter, wouldn't you say. Added bonus: I wax lyrical about the discovering art upon it's release vs discovering art when it's ingrained in popular culture. Totally fascinating, innit.

[yourandyourbs] explains how economics have changed in the last 80 years, how economic objectives are the key (employment vs inflation targets), and why traditional orthodoxy will fail us all in modern world.
Now, I have to tell you Kennedy isn’t making these rules up. They did become orthodoxy in advanced-economy treasuries in the 1980s. They’re the reason John Kerin’s budget of 1991, delivered in the depths of "the recession we [didn’t] have to have" contained zero stimulus, meaning the stimulus, when it came in February 1992, came too late.
This view isn't wide enough and lacks all the details. The worlds entire global economy software was changed, not just ours, under the guidance of Milton Friedman.
1945-1980 - Computer software No.2:
After WW2, the world's economy would be restored with the USD. The policy target would be full employment as this was believed to stop the rise of fascists again (they need to look at this again). We had homogenous national economies, we all produced most of the same stuff, fridges, cars etc... There was restricted financial markets. Growth would be lead by wage growth, high taxes and transfers would be the government's steering mechanism for the economy, and the government kept much of the commanding heights of industry under democratic/national capital control - Telecom, Qantas etc - again a steering mechanism to make sure this form of capitalism worked. No one gave a shit who ran the central bank and no one knew their name.
A lot of this came from the ideas of economist John Maynard Keynes, and his ideas are credited for getting the world out of the great depression when the Friedmanite types wanted to do nothing (let the market fix itself, it's magic!)
I've posted this quote from Keynes' book - The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money - here before, but I'll do it again, as it's a good summarisation of the key concept behind the 1945-1980 era.
"If the Treasury were to fill old bottles with banknotes, bury them at suitable depths in disused coalmines which are then filled up to the surface with town rubbish, and leave it to private enterprise on well-tried principles of laissez-faire to dig the notes up again (the right to do so being obtained, of course, by tendering for leases of the note-bearing territory), there need be no more unemployment and, with the help of the repercussions, the real income of the community, and its capital wealth also, would probably become a good deal greater than it actually is. It would, indeed, be more sensible to build houses and the like; but if there are political and practical difficulties in the way of this, the above would be better than nothing."
As opposed to Milton Friedman's right wing capitalist fairy tale of the market will fix itself.
There is a bug in this post WW2 software, as is with all forms of capitalism (why people like Marx thought capitalism was always in a crisis), which led to the stagflation crisis - which led to the global software reboot. We are led to believe that creating money creates inflation. While this can be true in certain circumstances and if it is abused too far, it's not the key driver. During this post WW2 era, full employment and strong labour led to high wage growth. For capitalists to keep paying workers more and to see their ROI's, they needed advancements in productivity and they had to raise prices. Eventually, the bug hit and inflation rose so high they didn't want to invest - so they withheld their capital, a capital strike.
The stagflation crisis. During this post WW2 era, it was a debtors paradise. You'd borrow money for houses and whatever, and because of the inflation, it was easy to pay the money back. Boomers had banks eat half their mortgages in inflation. The problem arose when it went so high that capital didn't want to invest. Inflation can be a good thing, right now, we're in a private debt hole and inflation would help us get out of it. Inflation too low is as bad as too high. Today, it is too low. Money creation is not raising inflation, not even when many trillions were dumped into the global economy after 2008 - Milton Friedman and his laissez-faire hacks were wrong. Full employment and strong labour drove inflation, not money creation.
We see an immense amount of money creation today both through governments and through the financial system, and inflation is extremely low. I remember watching all the laissez-faire hacks screaming after the 2008 crisis that QE would bring hyper-inflation (and they urged you to buy their gold)... It of course never happened. Inflation didn't budge.
While something had to be done to fix the stagflation crisis, capital took advantage of the crisis and swung everything too far in their favour. We just needed to bring down inflation partially, not all the way. There's a few mechanisms for this and we didn't need to destroy labour in the process.
So we get to 1980-2008, computer software No.3:
The policy target changes from full employment to price stability. The value of capital is to be "restored". The mechanism is maximum global integration and deregulated financial markets. The price of money shoots through the roof to slow inflation. The welfare state is to be wound back. Labour markets would become "flexible". Growth would now be led by profits, not wage growth (any wonder why wages are going flat). The steering mechanism of democracy and national capital would be ended and this would be handed over to private capital. Suddenly, everyone knows who runs the central banks - because the price of money becomes so important.
There would be low taxes and low transfers (the redistribution). Inflation is brought to extremely low levels. Because wage growth no longer drove growth, it's now dependent on a credit bubble - and thus the bug of this Milton Friedman/neoliberal software hits. People can only borrow so much money, especially when their wages aren't rising and the low inflation isn't eating any of the debt. The extremely low inflation is a creditors paradise - until the debts can't be paid back. The whole thing blows up in 2008 and we're in a kind of limbo, transition phase.
It's near dead, but the capitalist class have put the system onto life support by dumping massive amounts of money into the world's economies (money that goes mostly to the top) while telling the plebs they need to live within their means.
This should all sound really familiar to people across the world. It wasn't something that was just done in Australia. For some reason, we're in a global economy and people still view the system through a national lens. Australia doesn't matter much to capitalist power, and we're just along for the ride. Just as in the past, we'll change our software when capitalist power changes theirs. We seem to be unable to deal with it democratically and nationally, with a neoliberal media filling heads with bad ideas.
From a capitalist perspective (I don't even consider myself a capitalist, I think the world has to do better for many reasons - especially environmental sustainability), we need to bring back some of the 1945-1980 software. We see fascism rising across the world today, and full employment is what deals with that, just as it did in the past. We need higher inflation and wage growth, just not too high. The problem is capitalism is near impossible, perhaps impossible to manage well. It always falls into a pile of shit. Albert Einstein did not call capitalism "economic anarchy" for no reason.
In a globalised world, it won't be possible to go back to completely homogenous national economies, but we can partially do this. The key is the policy target. Full employment and wage growth over price stability and profit growth. There is also another key. Stop listening to the cheerleaders of free-markets. They believe in 18th-century fairy tales about what capitalism is and what it can achieve. They are ideological and frankly, religious about markets. Their economic models have numbers that stack up on paper, but they don't reflect the reality of capitalism. They've never been taught anything critical about capitalism.
Professor Richard Wolff is an economist who has degrees from Harvard, Stanford and Yale, and he says it clearly - I was never taught anything critical about capitalism, just a big song and dance about how perfect it is. If you want to understand the flaws of capitalism, you need to hear its critics, not its cheerleaders. Some capitalists are rational... Business Insider recommends their viewership to read Karl Marx - so they can better understand the flaws of this system. They don't play a childish propaganda game that Marx was Satan himself.
I am by no means a Paul Krugman fan. Krugman's idiocy (and most of the economist class) is what led us down this hole. But I'll give him this. Eventually, he saw that his globalised, neoliberal capitalist fairy tales from the 90's were wrong.
“Economists, as a group, mistook beauty, clad in impressive-looking mathematics, for truth.” - Paul Krugman.
