4. In developing their backstory, what elements of the world they live in played the most influential parts?

Pretty much none! I don't even have much of a backstory for her, she's not developed in that direction and she's one of my most straightforward ocs in entire character design since she just vibes around on whatever catches her attention since she has no emotional stakes in anything. The only element there that's directly tied to lore, is how the Dream hit a snag when she emerged from her pod and that is why she has no capacity for emotions whatsoever. No way to develop them or learn how they feel, it's just not a facet she has. Other sylvari feel her as a void that just isn't there.

14. If you had to narrow it down to 2 things that you MUST keep in mind while working with your OC, what would those things be?

☝️ Constantly have to keep her lack of emotions in mind as someone who has Many Emotions lmao

✌️ that others find her very unnerving and this actually has to be accommodated within travels because the way she rubs people the wrong way does hinder social progress in the story when she's around.

15. What is something about your OC can make you laugh?

The fact that on a whim she's latched onto a weird little plant daughter just for the hell of it, she'd do absolutely anything for Wrelia (who is @ascalonianpicnic 's) and that girl can do absolutely no wrong in her eyes. If she caused a catastrophe, no she didn't 💖

16. What is something about your OC can make you cry?

With Odollumn, nothing! She's chill, she's having a fine time, she's got a good found family that understands how she works and love her for it. And any disasters in the plot just don't phase her. She's a very cathartic mood break to have on my main team honestly.

harley and logan :•] oh boy.

bit of context! harley spent the first 14 years of his life traveling around kryta with his circus and has only ever had very brief encounters with any form of police (seraph and lionguard) so moving to divinity’s reach where they have THREE whole militant police forces was a big change for him. and his first real interaction with the seraph is after his dad dies in The Accident. where they tell his mom that bc she never officially married his dad, legally she has no claim over his stuff ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and they can’t take anyone to court bc they’re outsiders

they got their hearing, the seraph can’t do shit about it, go home.

so harley is already going in with the mindset of “this place fucking sucks and the ppl in charge can’t/refuse to help” and it’s exacerbated by the seraph, ministry, and shining blade being at each others throats all the time. like why even have three militaries if they’re constantly undermining each other?

with logan specifically. he and harley have this complicated relationship where harley sees him as a washed-up loser cop, but logan sees him as a rebellious troublemaker who has the potential to be a great loyal soldier! he just needs a good mentor figure! to show him how cool being a seraph is :D

except every attempt at trying to bond with harley ends in Disaster bc they’ll be searching minister zamon’s manor in lvl 10 personal story and logan will say something like

thinking harley will agree but he just looks horrified like?? logan you’re the fucking CAPTAIN of the seraph. you are STATE-SANCTIONED you can’t just destroy ppl’s property bc you think they’re rich douchebags.

and then more choice logan lines that make harley go “YOU’RE A COP YOU CAN’T DO THAT”

rinse and repeat. the copaganda is strong with logan and the only reason harley can see thru it is bc he didn’t grow up surrounded by it. if he had lived in divinity’s reach his whole life he definitely would’ve fallen for logan’s friendly “you and i, we’re the good guys! ;) but sometimes i need to go outside the law. that’s where you come in!” hand-on-your-shoulder tone. it’s framed as heroic!

to this day logan still thinks he’s on good terms with harley and thinks of himself as the commander’s old mentor. if asked about it, harley would say bongo the one-eyed was more of a mentor to him than logan ever was.

if she was a guild wars 2 character, she'd be one of those necromancers that has all those minions following them everywhere. a minionmancer..

ivy has a crazy amount of potential for dark magic. in my story setting, humans can't cast spells and are resistant to dark magic, while elves can cast spells but are harmed greatly by dark magic. as a half-elf, ivy has the best of both worlds: she can cast spells and is resistant to the side effects they would otherwise have on her! granted, it takes her more effort to cast spells than a full elf, but with time and practice, she can make her spells much stronger than they can.

bonus: ivy has a tattoo! it's a black trefoil on her left forearm, basically identical to the symbol on the cover of her grimoire:

3. Do they have any crafting professions?

Airell is an excellent cook, both in-game and lore-wise. I joke all the time how his team misses his cooking more than him when he's away, hahahaha.

8. Are there any juicy rumors about them floating around Tyria?

SO! MANY!!!! The most popular is the rumor about him having an affair with Faren - to be fair, they did hook up ONCE and Airell cringes whenever he sees the guy ever since.

Airell is quite flirty, so rumors about him having multiple partners were quite common and they were quite often the topics of the commander fun club meetings.

Other rumors are that Airell is immortal (even before we learn that they are a dragon scion) - mostly because of their necromancy and they cannot fall in battle. Simply, the commander is made into this undefeated champion who will never fall. Some rumors claim that Airell made pacts with demons and divine beings from the Mists. After all nobody can be that powerful, right?

And of course... a rumor that Airell is a whispers agent who was so long under cover that they forgot who they really were or that they still are undercover and the whole pact commander thing is a facade so the order of whispers can have more power and influence, especially that Airell is not hiding how close he is to Trahearne.

10. What was the most difficult part of their journey so far?

Airell has been through a lot. I think there were three most difficult parts that I cannot simply single out as the top one. So, in non-defined order:

learning of their identity as a dragon scion - that was really harsh for Airell, they always thought they were just a normal mordem like any sylvari, they thought they were no different, but suddenly they learn the truth about themselves and... they are the very thing they were seeking to destroy. How are they supposed to deal with that?

dealing with Trahearne's death - ever since Airell and Trahearne get together, Airell becomes very dependent on their partner. In a fic I'm currently working on, some characters refer to Trahearne as an anchor for Airell - someone who kept them in check without actually knowing about it. So when suddenly Airell woke up and that anchor was gone... they were devastated. they didn't know how to handle it and broke many rules and regulations of necromancy guidelines in the process of... handling it badly. it only lead to even bigger mess. if you want to read more about it, i have a series of fics (2 whole fics, the 2nd one has two chapters)

lastly, and this one will be more physical than mental, leaving the Jungle. Before Airell comes to central Tyria, they live with their hylek tribe in Maguuma. They know the jungle inside and out, they know all the secret places. And after around 2 decades (that's twenty (20) years!) they finally decide to leave and see the world. The world outside of jungle is really different and even though the jungle is deadly, and somehow carts pulled by bulls are more scary than a furious stonehead charging straight at you. Airell also didn't really know the language, so it was really hard for them to communicate with locals.

14. If they were an elder dragon, what would their domains be?

23. Who overthinks the most?

i think it depends... in mundane situations, probably Eridunis because it's not really something that matters, but when it's a situation that really matters, he knows what to do usually. Arkus is pretty definitive with decision-making in most real-world cases, but even he gets set back when it comes to his work. if it's anything regarding his research, he is very picky and goes perfectionist mode; he becomes very uncertain about his process and starts to overthink things.

24. Which of the two is the most competitive?

ugh they both are LOL

i guess at first they're both very competitive--the competition was usually just "who can annoy the other the longest," but now that they've been together for so long, they don't feel the urge to be competitive even when literally taking part in a competition. they'll maybe play fight or pretend to argue because it's funny, but they're not seriously competitive anymore

against other people though....... Arkus is always ready to throw down

25. Who’s the most stubborn?

uh Arkus LOL no question. he's a huge bitch sometimes..... but i think it's another case of it really depending on the circumstances. Eridunis is stubborn when he has to make decisions within the Pact or Dragons Watch. Arkus is stubborn about his work and his research. i just think that maybe Eridunis can be convinced more easily than Arkus in a bout of stubbornness..... haha

26. How do they comfort each other?

they talk, they have tea, Arkus cooks, and sharing a meal helps calm them both down during a stressful night... sitting and talking are usually enough for them both 💖

OH IT'S A SUPER INDULGENT LITTLE THING THAT NICK (@legendary-assassin-stance) HAVE BEEN WORKING ON FOR THE PAST WEEK???

it really just spun off from a thought I had of "what if viktor and archemorus were gay BEFORE shiro popped off instead of being gay after chilling in the mists together" and grew into an AU where shiro never actually went feral and everything is just a Little Less Fucked!

so basically in this AU, Viktor and Archemorus end up catching feeling for each other when they're younger and have a silly little forbidden romance thing while also they try to figure out how to get their peoples to stop the warring between them.

also in this version of things, nick's factions oc yuma is present during this point in the timeline and ends up involved with shiro, which effectively prevents shiro from going off the deep end and killing the emperor! so no jade wind, everyone's alive, all that good shit

basically it's a "what if our two gay ghost pairings got to have a Happier Ending" :>

8. What’s something that your oc is insecure about? Something that someone could say to them that would really get under their skin?

Anything truly! It does not take much to set her off, and if you're approaching her with no reason to (ie you're not a well known criminal looking to hire some dangerous muscle for a bloody task) then anything you say is immediately a potential threat either meant to attack her or catch her off guard. This woman exists on a hair trigger that's already half-tripped.

10. Is there anything your oc wants or likes that they have to keep secret, like a guilty pleasure? Anything that would get them ostracized, attacked, or just insulted for saying it out loud?

Strair. Just Strair.

Lace (who belongs to @ascalonianpicnic ) stumbled onto this fact once, and stared death in the face for voicing it. They existed in a very very specific situation where she spared them, but if they ever see her again it's fight on sight. They are well aware of this.

11. If your oc could go back in time and change one moment from their life, would they, and what moment would they change?

Surviving her emergence from her pod. If she knew what awaited her, she would've simply given up and let the Nightmare kill her before she emerged. Instead she fought to survive and it's only gifted her pain.

13. If your oc had one day where they could do anything without being caught, what would they do?

She honestly already does. She's damn near impossible to kill, extremely jacked up both in physical strength and durability along with the raw leyline magic that runs through her and she naturally produces. Nothing stops her and she really just doesn't want to do anything aside from be left alone these days.

6. how does your oc react to being told someone else’s secret? Do they lock it up tight, or spread it around?

lorne is very good at keeping secrets. if you tell him something that you want to stay between you and him, it'll go to the grave with him.

9. how much shame does your oc feel about themself or their past? do they brush stuff off and feel carefree, or stay up at night recounting mistakes?

adonis feels a lot of shame. his past doesn't keep him up at night, but whenever he's reminded of it by something, he freezes up and starts to overthink things.

he's ashamed of how he was born into/grew up in a corrupt noble house. thanks to his upbringing he's very good at keeping secrets, but he hates it.

12. if your oc had one day of their life where they were being monitored for a full 24 hours, and they knew this, what would they change about their routine?

ivy, a dark mage in a place where practicing dark magic is illegal, would completely change her routine. she wouldn't touch her grimoire and would keep her trefoil tattoo (symbol of dark magic) covered.

she'd probably be anxious the whole day and spend most of it exploring nature/old ruins to get that nervous energy out of her system.

16. (since there's no 18) could your oc be effectively blackmailed with any of their secrets?

ivy would be very easy to blackmail 👀 if you know she's a dark mage and you mention that you might report her to the authorities for it, she'd do just about anything you want in order for her to remain hidden. she'd do even more if you threatened her teacher, fiensal.

lorne, meanwhile... if you threatened him, he might do as you ask. but if you threaten his mentor (an ex-knight of house rinn who was supposed to be executed), he's more likely to just cut you down where you stand.

adonis is hard to blackmail. his past is pretty well-known- it's hard to hide it when you're the runaway son of an infamous noble house. the secrets he still keeps are so well hidden that you can't really blackmail him with anything.
