I learned that links can go broken in years to come and while new research will supersede current ones, I still want to keep what I find now in this year… So I have done a bit of copy pasting.
You Don't Have to Do Cardio to Lose Weight (But There's a Catch)
Cardio is one of the least effective fitness modalities for weight loss because you lose weight by burning more calories than you eat, and to many people's surprise, strength training is actually better at doing that than steady state cardio.
First, strength training changes your body composition. "Resistance training will help you build more muscle, which will spike your metabolism and help you burn more calories," explains Betina Gozo, a Nike Master Trainer who focuses on strength training. The more calories your body burns on its own, the easier it is to lose weight. In other words, if you want to lose weight, building muscle is a good thing.
Second, resistance training done in a circuit often burns more calories than plain old cardio, particularly when done with compound movements like squats, deadlifts, hip thrusts, cleans, push presses, and more. When more joints are involved in a movement, more muscles have to be recruited to execute them and that means -yep- more calories burned.
When you're just doing straight-up cardio, you're working at an aerobic pace and only burning calories for the amount of time that you're working out… With a high-intensity resistance training circuit session, you continue burning calories for the rest of the day, she adds. Of course, you can absolutely get this afterburn benefit from HIIT, but for the muscle-building benefits, you'll want to incorporate resistance in the form of weights, kettlebells, or body weight leverage.
The thing is: Strength training, when done strategically, can definitely get your heart rate high enough to count as vigorous cardiovascular exercise.
Get the Best of Both Worlds
So how do fitness pros recommend balancing strength and cardio training if you're trying to lose weight? "I would recommend cardio only on your off days," says Michaels. "For example, if you lift four times a week and you want to get one or two more sweat sessions in-but still allow your muscles the proper recovery time-this is when cardio would be fine."
Want to ensure you're hitting the recommended amount of cardio without ever setting foot on the treadmill? Weight train in circuits, she explains. "Move from one exercise to the next in swift succession to keep your heart rate up. I personally add a HIIT interval into every circuit as well to get the extra intensity."
It's also a good idea to choose your weights strategically. "Try to incorporate weights and resistance that actually challenge you for your last few reps, or else you may not be getting full benefits," says Gozo. "You never want the weights to be easy to move for 15+ reps. You want the 'resistance' to be there to make change happen."

Journal:
Tempted fate and did a weigh in. I'm now 54.5kg which is a drop but my body tends to fluctuate between 51 to 56kg on its own. 5kg is a lot but it doesn't really show in my body for some reason. but hey, a W is a W. also plus the fact i have more muscle now!! probably means i lost more. i don't know if im delusional but i feel like i can see a difference in my arms and legs.
I seem to be doing better in the gym, i think i can push it to 4km. jogging speed of 7.5ish, sprint speed of 12ish and walk speed of 4.5ish. my first hand hang couldn've been longer, but i thought i felt something tear in my arm so i dropped LMAO
old man talked to me when i was trying to pick up heavy weight. i saw him looking at me after. eugh.
but anyways i finally made it to the other side of the gym!! i deadlifted (rep) 30kg!
after the gym, i went to chill at burger king and got myself a ice milo. i drew a bit and went home.
at home, i showered and laid on the bed a bit, fell asleep, and ate dinner at like 9pm LMAOOO
dinner was so weird. it was kinda spicy and hot and not very tasty. never again. i had a bit of that then some normal japanese beef rice and egg. i didn't finish the rice on both to equal out the fact i had rice from both containers.
wanted something sweet after that and almost grabbed a lemon biscuit thing but thats 110 calories and i know dinner was probs a bunch so i put it down. (i hate spending calories on stuff i don't like eating) had two ribena pastilles instead.

SMALL TOWN STRONG
A documentary produced by a friend and CrossFit Coach Dale King. You absolutely must block out 1 1/2 hour and pay close attention. There is much to learn in this movie. Basically it's about a veteran returning home after learning CrossFit in Iraq and opening a gym and finding his hometown is overrun with addicts and homeless people and and using CrossFit to recover them. Along the way he develops several small businesses, like sanitation products needed during Covid, and making Kettlebells, and he employs recovering addicts in these businesses.
Please watch this. It will give you new respect for the value of working out with friends and developing a loving and supportive community.

Robin Arzón Just Launched a Bilingual Toy Line, and These Baby Dumbbells Are Too Cute
Fitness instructor Robin Arzón is taking her love of movement and bringing it from the Peloton to your playroom. The 41-year-old mom of two recently announced the launch of her bilingual toy line, Bebé Fuerte. The products are all fitness-inspired and allow you to introduce your little one to movement at an early age. And the packaging and products themselves feature Spanish words and phrases to help expand their vocabulary and learn a new language. "Bebé Fuerte is inspired by our littlest, strongest movers! I really believe that movement is healing and medicine, and it is a tool for unlocking our inner strength," Arzón told People in an exclusive interview. The head instructor also noted that it was important to incorporate her heritage and upbringing into the toy line. "Also as a proud Latina it's infused with Spanish language and the dynamic vibrancy that I grew up with and I think that should be injected into play," she said. The line is available now at Walmart and independent toy stores across the US, and includes fun products like the Twist & Shake Dumbbell ($10), the Stack & Count Kettlebell ($17), the Let's Move Giftset ($24), and the Marathon Maze 2-in-1 Activity Mirror ($22). You'll note that words of affirmation (e.g. "Sí se puede!" on the dumbbells) and Spanish vocabulary (like "salida" and "llegada" on the maze mirror) decorate the sides of the toys, encouraging bilingual conversation and play. Arzón, who has a 2-year-old daughter, Athena, and a newborn son, Atlas, says the toys have already become favorites in her home. Athena, in particular, "loves the toy line" and is excited to introduce it to her baby brother. "I think she's excited to play with Atlas once he's ready to play with these toys!" Arzón said. But he doesn't have to wait to join in on the fun. Bebé Fuerte also has toys and accessories for infants 0 months and up, including the Strong & Sunny Clip-On ($9), the Move & Groove Crinklie Elephant ($10), and the Move & Groove Crinklie Panda ($10). Ultimately, Arzón hopes that her line of toys will encourage families to move together - often and early on in development. "The overall message that we are sharing with Bebé Fuerte is that the power comes from inside, and playtime is a family affair," Arzón told People.
