Clive Barker's Lord of Illusions (1994) bit of an odd adaptation if you're familiar with Barker's published work. In a lot of ways, it's more of a serial numbers filed off version of his debut novel The Damnation Game than it is the Harry D'mour story "The Last Illusion." Which is funny since it was written and directed by the author of both. As for the movie itself, a perfectly cromulent noir riff that frustratingly brushes up a much more interesting horror / dark fantasy film but never quite dives into it until the final act of the film, which resurrects Daniel Von Bargen's Manson-esque cult leader / evil sorcerer and let's him cut loose. Also, good lord, Famke Janssen. Girl should come with a warning label.
