Aang may not waterbend in NATLA s1, but his main character arc is to ‘change’ which what water is, an element of change.
Gyatso was his only master/teacher, he has seen what his uncontrolled raw power could do, but Gyatso was always there to check on him, Aang feels safe in his presence. Now that he has passed away, learning other bending is an important journey for him, it’s sacred, he’s not ready to accept the reality that he has to let go & move on, yet.
So meeting Gyatso in the spirit world is a turning point for Aang, Gyatso tells him to let go, to open his heart for a change, for a better future.
And his first step of the change is so accept Katara as his water bending master, the person who saved him, the person who will keep him in check, just like Gyatso did.

After watching the trailer, I immediately ran to draw this cinnamon bun. I'm delighted with how everything looks. For the first time in my life, I really like everything about a modern film adaptation. I really hope that the content will be at the level of the picture.
Regarding drawing, I’m not exactly a portrait painter, so I can’t do a 100% likeness. I hope as a result there is at least a little recognition.
And at this moment I noticed Katara’s shoes. Is it just me, or are there adorable fur boots?
I tried to sketch roughly what I saw, cartoonishly so as not to go into details. Then we'll see if I got it right :3
