Financial Independence: Early education about money instills skills like budgeting and saving, empowering children to manage their finances independently as adults.
Smart Decision Making: Understanding money helps kids make informed choices about spending and saving, fostering responsible financial behavior from a young age.
Financial Security: Learning to save early builds habits that contribute to long-term financial security and resilience against economic uncertainties.
Critical Life Skills: Money management is a fundamental life skill, essential for navigating adulthood, from paying bills to planning for major expenses like education or housing.
Entrepreneurial Spirit: Financial education can inspire entrepreneurial thinking and innovation, encouraging kids to explore opportunities for earning and investing.
Avoiding Debt: Awareness of financial responsibilities helps children avoid debt traps and understand the consequences of borrowing.
Economic Awareness: Teaching money concepts enhances children's understanding of the economy and their role in it, fostering a broader perspective on financial matters.
Family Financial Planning: Educating kids about money encourages discussions about family finances and future goals, promoting transparency and preparedness.
By teaching children about money early on, we equip them with the tools to navigate a complex financial landscape confidently and responsibly.

One of the most enlightening realizations I’ve had in a while has been this: kids will do their share of housework if they are allowed and encouraged to do it. E is now 6 years old and S will turn 4 in 3 months. Until now they have been served pretty well by us parents (cooking, serving, cleaning, picking up etc)👩🏻‍🍳👨‍🍳🤵🏻‍♀️🤵🏼 I started to think about this and realized that they really were not able to help themselves! For example our cereal boxes AND dishes were too high on the shelves for them to reach. Also, before I didn’t even want them meddling with dishwasher, cleaning the house or laundry because it just makes things much more complicated. BUT now it is time. For quite some time we have been talking about starting a weekly allowance for them. This has now been started. In addition we have all agreed to start a bonus system where daily tasks can add to allowance or you can take the bonus as additional screen time. They are given points from small tasks like making the bed or taking their plate to dishwasher but also for helping with cleaning or brushing the toilet. 🚽 Last week E collected 44 bonus points and S 11. Elmo chose screen time (extra 9 minutes) and S chose to have 0,20€ extra to her allowance. The idea is that once the tasks become automated we can replace the easy ones with more demanding tasks to our follow-up. • #kids #kidshelpout #letkidshelp #smalltasks #rewardingsystem #kidsandmoney #weeklyallowance #everyonehelps #motivation #viikkoraha #bonusjärjestelmä #kotityöt #lapsetjaraha #kaikkiauttavatkotona #pieniähommia #ruuhkavuodet #yhteistyö #siivouspäivä https://www.instagram.com/p/CWOtUWyt1da/?utm_medium=tumblr

Teach Your Kids to Manage Money
Are you out of ideas on how to teach your children how to manage their money? I have 2 kids under 13 yrs old.  I don’t like the idea of them carrying cash and neither do I want to pay $5 per month for fees for a transactional bank account nor have them accessing their long term savings.  I want to be able to pay them for chores of which they can spend on what they desire, with the hope that they learn how to eventually make wiser decisions with the resources they have and try and be better manager of their cash.  I think I found a solution I’m pretty happy with for $2.50 per month.  The cards are cool and appealing to kids.  I have peace of mind they are not going to squander away the long term savings I have diligently been putting aside for them.  (I have another higher interest bearing account without a debit card.)  And finally, I have a tool that I can teach my kids money management.  This cool Debit Card is Spriggy!
I’d be interested to hear what you think of Spriggy. If you have any creative ways to teach your kids money management, please leave a note!

How to teach kids to value money?
Tumblr media
Teaching kids to value money is essential for their future financial stability. Start by introducing them to the concept of money early on. Use a clear jar as a visual tool for saving, showing how coins and bills accumulate. Involve them in budgeting activities, like planning a family outing within a set budget. Give them an allowance tied to chores, teaching them the correlation between work and earning. Encourage saving by setting goals for things they want, reinforcing delayed gratification. Open a savings account to teach them about banking and interest. Use real-life scenarios to explain the cost of things and the importance of making wise financial decisions. Lastly, model good financial behavior, as kids learn by observing. By integrating these practices, kids will develop a strong understanding and respect for money, preparing them for a financially responsible
