YANDERE TAESOO MA HEADCANONS

Taesoo might be the King of Ansan, he does have a fearsome reputation around but he's completely different with you, his personality takes a complete 180 degrees turn. You're a fragile little doll in front of his eyes and he thinks you need protection. He's quite surprised how you've managed to survive on your own this long without having someone to look after you and protect you, but he wants to be your protector. You worked at the local cafe and he was usually never someone to step into cafes, he preferred the peace and serenity of his beloved mountain. However he was willing to make an exception that day as he entered the cafe. Of course he'd managed to turn a few heads as he walked into the cafe but he didn't give a damn. He strode to the counter and the second you flashed your sweet smile at him and asked him for his order in your melodious voice, he already found himself drawn and captivated by you. He started experiencing a rather foreign feeling inside his chest, something...warm, like someone lit a gentle fire inside him, coursing through his veins 

He didn't know why he started feeling like this, it was a hated fact but he was a rather lonely man at times, he only had his student Hudson visit him every now and then. "I'll have whatever you think is best'' he said simply with a stoic expression to you as you tapped your lips in thought for a few moments and pondered as his gaze landed on those soft lips of yours. He couldn't help but think how soft and gentle your lips would be as mind started running amok and started wandering like a wild galloping horse. After you told him about the coffee and red velvet muffins, he decided to have that. A while later you handed him his coffee which had a cute latte design and his red velvet muffin decorated with a flower on the top as he chuckled softly to himself. He felt it was rather ironic, the king of Ansan, enjoying cute little things from a cute little thing like you. He sipped his coffee and was stunned at how flavorful and enriching the taste was. He felt like he found a taste in heaven itself 

He started appearing at your cafe everyday and became a regular customer. You both bonded with each other over a period of time and he'd love to stir up conversations with you while you're on your break or whenever you're free. You soon realize though he might have a fearsome reputation around, he was quite a sweet man inside deep down. One day, he saw something that made him see red. He spotted your manager looking pissed off for some reason as he immediately called you to the back of the cafe and he started scolding you and yelling at you. Taesoo overheard the whole thing and clenched his fists till his veins started protruding as his expression darkened with every word he heard your manager say. How DARE that lousy scumbag make you upset? However when the manager started threatening to dock your paycheck, you started pleading with him not to do so, as the manager had a perverted look in his eyes as he leaned towards you and demanded you spend a night with him 

That's when Taesoo felt like he snapped. He lost complete control of himself as he strode over to you both and pulled you closer to his large bulky frame and held you close as he glared at the manager. "You say nonsense like that again I'll break all your teeth and stuff them down your throat...''he said with a calm look as your manager looked petrified which satisfied him. Taesoo insisted on walking you home as he dropped you off to your house and then called Hudson to find out more information on that stupid manager of yours. Don't be too surprised when you see your manager ending up on the news the next day dead. Taesoo felt pleased he dealt with the scumbag who dared to make you upset by having the pleasure of breaking his bones with his bare hands and making him suffer in agony till his last breath 

Taesoo might be a rather chivalrous gentleman towards you but doesn't like it when other guys swarm around you. They're like flies attracted to honey. HIS honey. You're so innocent and naive, you don't realize what those morons want but he does, and he's less than pleased to see them trying to corrupt you. If they're smart enough, they'll leave you alone and start avoiding you like the plague after he deals with them. Of course he'll ask his dear student Hudson to stalk the daylights out of you and give him a daily update of whatever goes on in your life and he'll get rid of anyone he deems that are too close to you and could be a threat to your future relationship with him. That's the point of having a student after all. Hudson is slightly amused someone's managed to capture his teacher's heart but all the same he's pleased too that he just found someone 

Taesoo's feelings start becoming more darker and obsessive towards you. His feelings for you start spiraling out of control. He feels like he needs you to be with him, like a dying man needing air. He NEEDS you, he WANTS you and he'll have you all right. He'll invite you to spend some time with him on his mountain and he'll lace your food with some mild sleeping pills to knock you out. Of course he'll feel slightly guilty that he had to use sleeping pills but seeing your soft innocent face looking so peaceful made his heart race faster. The thought of spending the rest of his life with you makes him excited as he takes you back to his cabin 

You'll wake up in a well furnished wooden cabin as he hands you a glass of water and he'll tell you about what happened. You can be angry at him or start crying, he'll feel sad sure and he'll hold you in his arms to comfort you as he kisses your tears away but he has no intention of letting you go, ever. He'll give you whatever your heart desires, except for your freedom of course. He won't even get mad if you try running away or trying to escape from him, he'll just sigh at you as he lifts you in his arms bridal style while he carries you back to his cabin and he'll check you for any injuries. He can't get mad at you, he has a soft spot in his heart for you. You might actually end up getting Stockholm syndrome on your own with the way he treats you 

He'll love it when you cling onto him and rely onto him for something, it makes him feel proud that you're trusting him to take care of you, to keep you safe and to protect you. The other day you spotted a spider on the ground as you screeched on top of your lungs and rushed to him for comfort. He pulled you close to him and caressed your cheek as he kissed your lips gently and told you he'd always protect you as he shooed the spider away. He'll ask you for another kiss as his reward and if you start getting shy and bashful and flustered, he'll smirk slightly to himself, enjoying how adorable and endearing you look. Now if someone tries to harm you....he's a whole different man. He'll make them suffer till their last breath as he basks in their dying screams of agony and pleas of mercy as he tortures them in the most gruesome and horrendous manner 

He spotted you cooking in an apron once and his mind went into an overdrive as his heart started racing madly. You looked like such a cute little house spouse and he enveloped you into a hug from the back and kissed your neck. You had to prepare lunch with him clinging onto you the whole time. He's slightly insecure of that scar he got on his face thanks to a certain fighting obsessed maniac back in the day, so when he feels your gentle loving touch assuring him that he has nothing to be insecure about and as you hug him, there are so many things he feels like saying but he gets choked on his feelings as they're stuck like a lump in his throat. All he can do is nod slowly as he makes you sit on his lap and holds you close. Overall a great man, he loves you and adores you through and through...

Highlights of Eps 492-496

SPOILER ALERT

Moved by Soojin's words about the death of Vin's mother, Seongji decided to attack the shaman. He made sure, however, to set ablaze some of the things that he stored in his hut.

Seongji fought the genius James and kept on winning. But James realized his potentials midway and changed his game. Still, Seongji pressed on, to James annoyance (and this determination is true to Seongji's name meaning, "total determination").

Just then, the Gwang Yoo Trio came unannounced while dragging the Cheonliang Fam kids as their hostages, with Beolgu especially having overpowered Vin.

Worried for his pupils' safety, Seongji told Shinmyeong that he knew of the shaman's bad karma with Vin's father. As such, he was willing to bear the brunt of the shaman's wrath for Vin's sake.

So the Gwang Yoo Trio beat him up. Then the shaman proceeded to add to Seongji's torments by removing every one of his sixth fingers and toes. The Kojima brothers grabbed the King by the hair, gleeful to see him so weakened.

All through the tortures, to James' annoyance and amusement, Seongji withstood the pain in silence so as not to wake his pupils up.

Ruthless as always, Shinmyeong proceeded to kill Vin in spite of Seongji's pleas, but before the shaman could do anything, five young men came: the Kings of the first generation.

Each King received news of Seongji's smoke signal for help.

So, Jaegyeon (The King of Incheon) raced his car to Cheonliang, only for Taesoo (the King of Ansan) to crush it, followed by Seokdu (the King of Suwon), and Gongseob (the King of Daegu), who even urinated on it, as was his habit. Jaegyeon nearly lost his mind, but, spearheaded by Jichang, they refocused their attention on the matter at hand.

The Kings defeated the henchmen first, but to their shock and indignance, they saw bloodied Seongji, whose sixth fingers and toes were already sawed off.

To Jichang's chagrin, Seongji admitted that he could've avoided the tortures, but he refused to lead James's budding four crews and that sealed his doom.

The Kings fought against the Gwang Yoo Trio, with Taesoo defeating Jaesu in no time and moving on to Beolgu, Gongseob challenging Gwang, Jichang trying to tackle both Kojima Brothers (the so-called Gwijeon) and Seokdu was tasked by Jichang to protect Seongji. Meanwhile, Jaegyeon talked to James, who declined to answer the King's indirect challenge.

Around them, the duels commenced. Beolgu, who apparently learned his techniques from Gabryong himself, taunted Taesoo about only using his fists (the taunting that would later get to Taesoo once it was made by James instead). Gwang taunted Gongseob about his muscle weakness and speed, while the Gwijeon brothers taunted Jichang that they were stronger than him, even when they were tired.

James remarked to Jaegyeon that the Kings were weak after all, but like Jaegyeon said, he couldn't be more wrong. One by one, the Kings defeated their opponents (special mention here that Beolgu lost tufts of his hair from shock and shame, and the mention of Gongseob's The Iron Fortress).

Once they advanced on Shinmyeong, the shaman yelled at James to protect him but it turns out that James was also there to finish him off, supposedly per Charles's orders (because of the Red Paper).

The other Kings moved to stop James from leaving, while Jaegyeon was tending to Seongji's wounds. But the kid evaded them, all the while calculating each of their strengths, realizing that he was much weakened by Seongji's attacks earlier. James then escaped, leaving Shinmyeong to the mercy of the kings.

But the grip of Shinmyeong's parasitic influence was too strong on the Cheonliang villagers, that they rose up to protect their revered shaman and surround the Kings.

Just then and there, Seongji started having his panick attacks, to the Kings' horrifying realization. They hurriedly left the place with sick Seongji. Always the intelligent one, before he left Jichang asked the enraged villagers whether Shinmyeong had really granted their wishes at all.

Shinmyeong escaped to a cliff, but Vin found him alone and beat the shaman senseless. Still, he couldn't bring himself to kill the old man.

As Vin turned his back on the shaman, he found his mother's satba ribbon on the ground (he previously wore it wrapped around his fist) and stooped to pick it up.

In vicious glee, the shaman tried to kill Vin by lifting a boulder above the kid's head, but tripped and fell from the cliff to his death.

To Vin's horror and shock, Taejin was there all along, and saw what happened to his father.

With his last memories of the dark-skinned girl and his young self fading, Shinmyeong died.

Taejin faked his grief, all the way to his father's funeral when he finally was anointed as the new shaman and leader of the cult. He couldn't wait to reclaim all of his belongings, including the young girl Soojin.

Safe in Seongji's hideout, the Cheonliang Fam checked on their teacher (it seems that Jaegyeon helped bandaging Seongji's fingers).

Jewoo, their leader, remembered what Jichang told him earlier about Seongji's PTSD: that it was triggered whenever Seongji was around too many people, that he might turn vicious when it happened, and had no memories of his actions but would regret them so much. Luckily, this time Seongji was alright.

Back in the abandoned high school, James was tending to his injuries, to Gun's sarcastic remark: Was James really the person who ended Gabryong's reign?

To Gun's remark, James retorted that it was an unsolved case, anyway, and he wasn't alone in doing it (!). What mattered to him now was how the Kings had to be defeated, separately. Since together they were such a force to reckon with.

Gun offered to train James, but the genius student outright rejected it, since he already got the hang of Gun's methods (maybe from observing how Gun fought, from time to time).

Back in Cheonliang, Taejin assumed his shamanic roles and the first thing that he did was rejecting Charles's offer for co-operation. However, the cunning Charles had predicted this, since Taejin had no idea of the existence of the Red Paper. Then he left the village with the Gwijeon brothers.

Far away inside an unnamed meat market in Seoul, Jichang and his men found other men bloodied and unconscious, trampled by a raw meat-chewing young man.

The man was none other than Gabryong's other son, Gitae Kim. Yes, this is the future King of Seoul. And most likely, he was there per James's request.

Notes:

I find it interesting that it's sort of hinted that when Seongji died, he probably died some time after his frenzied PTSD set in. And maybe the Cheonliang kids couldn't stop him at all.

I wonder if Vin was forced to hurt or mercy kill Seongji back then, and whether this sad event was the action that drove the wedge between him and the other Cheonliang boys, other than Soojin's violent death, supposedly at the hands of Taejin.

I think Jaegyeon might have a bit of medical background, enough for him to know about surgical attachment of body parts. He probably also experienced it, with one of his fingers being recently re-attached in the past timeline.

Since James and Gitae previously were in cahoot (with or without Charles's knowledge), I wonder how they had since fallen apart, with Taejin now working under Gitae instead and James supposedly worked with Yoojin to bring down Charles.

It's delightful to me that, true to his nickname as The Genius of Nurture, Gun offered to help James in getting stronger (even though Gun probably did this out of the desire to show that he was superior to James). But it's sad that the two, being so young, had to live in such a derelict building under a shady businessman's order.

[“His chapped lips part, but he remains speechless. The fires that once lit his eyes had been extinguished, left glossy and damp. He looks so overwhelmed. So lost. ”]

The corridor smells sterile, fluorescent lights line the chalk colored ceiling, and white tiles run down the stretch of the hallway; you feel yourself suffocating with anxiety in this setting. It’s like you’re sleepwalking, merely hallucinating that you’d been called to the ER at 5 AM on account that you were the only listed number on his entree form. Nothing can ever change the fact that you despise medical settings. You feel awkward, hovering in toe with the nurse as she gently guides you to the waiting room, leaving you to fill out paperwork.

You aren’t even an adult, and you’re being forced to fill out paperwork?

“When did my penmanship get so sloppy?” you wonder, scribbling down your name with a shaky hand. 

You can hardly focus. It feels like all your thoughts are being snubbed out by that signature hospital scent.

The paperwork is collected; you hold your jacket awkwardly in your arms. It’s a waiting game… until the doctor approaches you. 

“Miss (L/N)?” 

You rise from your seat, nodding at the man. He looks over his clipboard, eventually folding the file behind his back and giving you his full attention. 

“You’re here for…?” You nod in confirmation, again, feeling unable to utter a word.

Your voice, when you finally rasp out a few words, sounds hoarse and unfamiliar, “Where is he?”

In a matter of minutes, you find yourself closing the curtain into the dark corner of the hospital. The room is blue-washed and dim; the only light sources come from the beeping machines and warmly lit bed light. You catch a glimpse of the pulse oximeter on his finger, the tell-tale red glow hiding beneath a fold in the covers. 

You hover awkwardly by the doorway, admiring his side profile in silence. His broad chest rises and falls, each breath accompanied by the heart monitor’s beeping. You’ve never seen him looking so vulnerable and bloody. 

You approach the bedside tentatively, curling your fingers into the fabric of your jacket. Your palms feel sweaty, but even still you force yourself to reach out to the bed, grabbing hold of the scratchy sheets. From this close you can see the cotton hospital gown that he wears beneath the covers, and as your eyes roam you catch glimpses of the hardened scars on his infamous fist. 

Then your gazes connect. Before you can say anything else… without any thought words slip through your lips and escape you. 

“Taesoo… your eye.”

Alarmed, you feel an uncomfortable plummet to your stomach as you scan over his face. Your fingers feel numb as you squeeze your hands into the fabric of the hospital sheets. Leaning over his broad chest, your mortified expression is highlighted in the warm lamplight. “What happened?” 

His chapped lips part, but he remains speechless. The fires that once lit his eyes had been extinguished, left glossy and damp. He looks so overwhelmed. So lost. 

You don’t see the confidence. Or the ferocity. 

At the moment, he doesn’t even look intimidating. Just vulnerable. Your King… the King of Ansan… looks vulnerable. 

“James Lee…” he mumbles. In a parched voice, he uttered a name you would never forget. The name of a man you swore to defeat. 

His solitary dark eye was unfocused and hazy, staring up at you as if he didn’t recognize who you were. As though you weren’t his most loyal follower. 

You didn’t blame him for thinking you had left him. That’s what everyone else thought.  “His lady walked out on him as soon as he lost his eye.”

“Only there for the looks I guess.”

“Unfaithful-”

“Whore—”

No one seemed to understand the rage that had stemmed from Taesoo and into you. The vengeance that boiled in the pit of your stomach as you curled your fists into balls and buried your face in the hospital sheets.

James Lee.

Hot, angry tears streamed down the side of your face as you looked up at Taesoo. You held him in your bleary sight. The reddened splotch, empty socket, permanent scars. Ever handsome. 

But he would change. Deny himself. You knew that, and you couldn’t bear the thought. 

You wiped your eyes and swore to yourself. You wouldn’t let that man hurt your King anymore. You would protect your King of Ansan, no matter the cost.

If you had to break your body. Sell your soul. Shatter your bones and rebuild them again. You would do it. As long as you never had to look down at Taesoo with pity ever again. 

You would defeat James Lee. 

If a man couldn’t do it, then surely a woman could.

I mean scientifically… probably not but UH

LOOKISM 470 SPOILER : Flashpoint Paradox?

Jang Ancheol (My Life as a Loser) / OG Daniel Park ( Lookism 470)

notice the usage of gray monochrome in all four panels? in both comics, at the particular panels being referred, the character is in a suspended reality that is not a part of the current timeline of events they are involved in. it is a dream-like state/trance where they are having a conversation which is detrimental in terms of the foreseeable future, and revolve around circumventing a bad outcome in said future.

ancheol is in a different timeline from his original one, i.e., he returns to the past to change the future. the man daniel (original body) is talking to resembles his perfect body in terms of both looks and build.

ptj likes to play around with the concepts of time and space as seen in both My Life as a Loser and Ulzzang Generation. so my theory is maybe the other person sharing the gray space with daniel is the "him" from another timeline or the future with a "bad ending", appearing in his conscience after his failure to prevent the disastrous future.

this can be supported by the hairstyle resemblance to self-hatred!daniel who appears during the ansan/james lee arc :

also is intriguing the fact that the man in the grey space seems to know about charles choi being the true enemy, even more dangerous than the workers. he also warns daniel about the basement hulk/1st affiliate's no.1 and urges daniel to unite with the rest of the second generation present in the first affiliate against that "threat" :

note : - the threat in question may also refer to jake's older half-brother, the former king of seoul who is currently returning from mexico, and is an accomplice along with james lee/dg and charles choi to his father, gapryong kim's , murder.

1st gen king of ansan

As far as I know, Eli is that lookism character who's got the most power ups no wonder why he was Gun's favorite :] and I think it's the same green eyed thing (they called it the beast mode ig) that appeared in the fight with worker's 3rd affiliate (Vivi club) well I'm happy that Eli is now on whole another level.

The thing that intrigues me the most is, has Samuel already reached that level up thing? It might be possible since he's Goo's secret friend and maybe same thing would've happened with Logan too.

According to the king of Suwon (I forgot his name lol) it's his second time seeing that power up which means that James Lee might be the one who has got it before. Most of the KiNgS (ansan, daegu, suwon etc.) have some of their body parts damaged which might be James lee's doing (the fact that taesoo ma confirmed)

Also, Sinu was also mentioned in the KiNgS list. He really is the GOAT. This also leads to the theory that maybe Sinu's eye is also one of James Lee's doing?!

Kim Hong-do (1745-1806?-1814?) was a full-time painter of the Joseon period of Korea.

He was a member of the Gimhae Gim clan and grew up in present-day Ansan, South Korea. At the age of 7, Gim Hong-do studied under the renowned master Pyoam Kang Se-hwang, who was then living in seclusion in Ansan.

In 1766, at the age of 21, on the recommendation of Kang Sehwang, he entered the royal service as a member (hwawon) of the Dohwaseo, the official painters of the Joseon court.

In 1771, he painted the portrait of the Royal Heir (the future King Jeongjo). In 1773, he assisted Byeon Sang-byeok when painting the Royal Portrait of King Yeongjo (1694–1724–1776).

In 1776, he painted the "Nineteen Taoist Immortals", that skyrocketed his reputation as a painter. At the same time, the new instated King Jeongjo (1752–1776–1800) commissioned him for many institutional paintings.

He died in loneliness and poverty, though the circumstances, and even the year are unknown. Sources are guessing 1806, circa 1810, or after 1814. [Wikipedia]

This painting is part of the "Danwon pungsokdo cheop", an album of genre painting (pungsokhwa or pungsokdo) drawn by Kim Hongdo during the late Joseon dynasty.

The album is painted with light watercolor on hanji (한지 Korean paper). Each painting depicts vividly common people's daily life in the Joseon period. Danwon pungsokdo cheop is designated as the 527th Treasures of South Korea and held by National Museum of Korea located in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, South Korea. [Wikipedia]

Cyrus the Great

Cyrus II of Persia (c. 600-530 BCE) was the founder of the first Persian Empire, the largest empire the world had ever seen.

Called the King of the Four Corners of the World, his empire (properly called the Achaemenid Empire or sometimes just 'The Empire'), he was known for his military successes, his respect for the people he conquered, and his highly effective system of administration and government.

Cyrus the Great succeeded his father as king of Ansan in 559, a vassal state to the Median Empire. Cyrus revolted against Media in a three-year civil war before capturing its ruler, his own grandfather, and began to expand his reach. By the end, he rules the entire Near East, most of Western Asia and Central Asia, and to the Mediterranean through Turkey.

Cyrus set up the system of satraps, a governorship with considerable autonomy. This allowed Cyrus to centralize power while still allowing people to keep their own ways. He forestalled rebellions by giving power to those he disposed of, allowing the to remain something like a king.

Cyrus the Great remains an influential figure for modern Iranians and his history is an important part of Iranian national identity. The Cyrus Cylinder (currently in the possession of the British Museum), an ancient clay cylinder describing Cyrus' entrance to Babylon, as the first attempt at fairly running a heterogenous society and is sometimes (though not without controversy) considered the first declaration of human rights in history. Cyrus is also the only non-Jewish figure to be called a messiah in the Tanach for his (historically-verified) Edict of Cyrus, encouraging diasporic Jews to relocate to Israel, which he controlled.
