Okay, like, King Kong, but a musical, is a strange concept. I went in feeling like it was going to be really cool special effects that I was going to like. And it was! The technology that this show embraces is incredible and allows the story to be told in a really unique way. And the puppetry used for the King himself is breathtaking. There are few words. However! What I did not expect was the amount of feels I had for the leading lady, Ann Darrow, played by the supremely talented Christiani Pitts. She was a fierce woman, unafraid even in the most terrifying circumstances. Kind, even when it meant her own starvation and sacrifice. Strong, even when everyone around her was telling her to be weak. I loved watching her become the Queen of New York. The central theme of King Kong is a classic story of beast and beauty.
