“Happy retirement to KINGSBARNS. An impressive winner of the GI Stephen Foster Stakes at Churchill in June, the son of Uncle Mo exited a recent workout with an injury and has been retired from racing.
With six wins from nine starts, including victories in last year's Gll Louisiana Derby and this year's GIll Ben Ali Stakes, the 4-year-old retires with $1,559,060 in career earnings
"He was a pleasure to trainer and will definitely be missed around the barn," said trainer Todd Pletcher.
Owned by Spendthrift farm, Kingsbarns will begin his stud career there in 2025. The farm has not, as of yet, named a fee.

It’s Kentucky Derby portrait time yet again!
For 2023 I decided to stick with acrylic paints, but mixed things up a little by adding some background color blocks. I got started a little late this year (and I’m in the middle of moving) so hopefully I mange to finish.
I’ve got the first 6 finished:
Two Phil’s
Kingsbarns
Forte
Derma Sotogake
Angel of Empire
Continuar

extremely boring horse names this year I have got to say. Kingsbarn is mildly intriguing at best, ans posting rocket can directly next to raising cain seems a little confusing. post 7 is reincarnate, which is funny but doesn't live up to my standards. overall disappointment

#208: FAIRMONT ST. ANDREWS (TORRANCE)
Interesting mix of Scottish golf continued. The two Fairmont courses are adjacent to the St. Andrews Links Castle Course and not far from Kingbarns but the combination of lack of history, not the same degree of pride and giving each of the courses a prime real estate nine rather than using all that real estate for one eighteen hole course leads to a #62 rating in Scotland (Kingsbarns #7 for reference). Best day of golf I had in Scotland though. Not only were Poli and I a twosome but we never encountered players in front of us or behind us. I played the first eight holes +2 and finished +12 for round. I would agree that not in the same league as the best courses here but also enjoyed the lack of distraction. Bonus that Poli made it through her first round ever without any ‘woofs’. Steak Barn at Algove Larder—yes please.

Kingsbarns stayed undefeated with an easy, runaway win in the G2 Louisiana Derby
In a race with very little early speed signed on, Kingsbarns broke sharply, went straight to the lead and never looked back. He was able to set a quite slow pace (which Shopper’s Revenge looked pretty mad about) and when they hit the stretch he kicked away and kept on going. Disarm closed from 6th to get the place spot, but was well behind the winner.
Kingsbarns is undefeated, but has run only 3 times. He broke his maiden on debut in January, was an impressive allowance race winner in February, and now has the G2 LA Derby trophy.
He is a son of the brilliant Uncle Mo and Lady Tapit. Lady Tapit is a daughter of Temperence Girl, who is also the dam of G1 winner Gozzip Girl.

Saturday, Day 9, July 13, 2024
After an early breakfast at the hotel, we departed for a short 15 minute ride to the Kingsbarn Golf Course, just outside of St. Andrews. I loved this track. I finally hit some good drives and had a great day. I got to play with the Young Guys and I was worried that my play might drag them down. Other than the fact that all 3 of them can bomb the ball, I was in their same area code in most fairways. The course is a little more forgiving than our other golf courses. I think it plays more similar to North Berwick.
After our round of golf, we came back to our hotel and made a quick visit to the Spa for the hot tub and swimming pool (nice and cold).
We pregamed at the Jigger Inn and then walked down to the Dunvagan and downstairs to the Clariet Jug restaurant. My son, Drew, and I actually ate here 14 years ago. I had the rack of lamb and we enjoyed several librations, including a few bottles of 2018 Chateau de Valois Pomerol. Of couse, we finished our meal with some of the best sticky toffee pudding in Scotland (I thought this as well 14 years ago when I had it here for the first time).
Johnny, Jim T and I finished with a night cap at the Hotel Bar.
Tomorrow is our last round of golf in Scotland - Carnoustie. It is reported to be the hardest course out of the 7 courses that we are playing
Cheerio!
