#DidYouKnow? In the Village of Kingston, (South Brunswick Township), #NewJersey there is the restored 18th century Kingston Wind Pump along Route 27. It covered a 65 foot well and was the earliest supply of water to the village. It utilized wind driven vanes mounted on top, to pump water into a tank within the structure. It was restored in 2002 by the Kingston Historical Society and moved to its current location (just a few feet over) in 2009. #nj #njhistory #SpreadTheHistory #historygirl #history #travelblog #travelblogger #blogger #blog #history #ushistory #americanhistory #explorenj #njspots #jerseycollective #journeythroughjersey #kingstonnj #kingston #southbrunswicknj #windpump #restored #village #water #route27 (at Kingston, New Jersey) https://www.instagram.com/p/ByoQiannVq1/?igshid=1unqgbpupbovh

Princeton Nurseries, now the Mapleton Preserve in Kingston, #NewJersey. In 1913, William Flemer Sr. purchased 286 acres of land to build a nursery close to the railroad and Delaware & Raritan Canal in South Brunswick and Plainsboro townships. The nursery succeeded and grew to over 500 acres, becoming the largest commercial nursery in the United States by the time it left Kingston in 1995 (a new site was opened in Allentown, NJ). Princeton Nurseries introduced important plant varieties including the legendary, disease-resistant Princeton Elm, the ‘October Glory’ Maple, and the ‘Snow Queen’ Hydrangea. Today, all but the main office (now the Delaware & Raritan Canal State Park Office) and blacksmith shop (education building) are off-limits and awaiting a future use. #nj #njhistory #SpreadTheHistory #historygirl #history #archi_ologie #architecture #oldhouselove #travelblog #travelblogger #blogger #blog #history #ushistory #americanhistory #explorenj #njspots #jerseycollective #njspots #journeythroughjersey #historicsite #kingston #kingstonnj #princetonnurseries #mapletonpreserve #visitnj #nursery #abandoned #beautifuldecay (at Mapleton Preserve) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-N0ZocDPhg/?igshid=17qieoo6hesyw
