👎🏻 La Pluie - Sadly I had to drop this one because I got super bored by it. It had a very interesting premise and the first 2-3 episodes were solid but then it deflated. Them revealing Pat as the soulmate so soon was a fatal mistake imo, they should have leaned more into the mystery of who he is to Saengtai etc. The story with Lomfon and Saengtian had an interesting start as well but then went nowhere. It’s a pity because I thought they were onto something with this show. oh well.

❗️ Actor Build Jakapan announced his withdrawal from the upcoming BL 4 Minutes due to the events that have occured over the last few months and his resulting departure from BOC. It’s unclear whether or not his co-star Bible Wichapas will remain a part of the project and get a new acting partner or if the project will get cancelled altogether. 

❗️ The upcoming Domundi BL Love Upon a Time released its pilot trailer.

Happy Anniversary, IDOLiSH7!

Alright! A bunch of stuff got announced to celebrate the series' 8th anniversary today, so lets break down the most important things regarding our favorite group, TRIGGER!

You've probably heard this stuff already but hey. I do what I want and I'm making this post anyway.

First up, let's get all the smaller 8th Anniversary stuff out of the way! Plenty of stuff has been changed and announced to help bring the series into its latest era, and all of it is very exciting!

Special Anniversary visuals by the series' main character designers have been shared and released!

... Also I feel like it's worth noting that Arina-sensei has made it clear that we've reached TRIGGER's numbers in terms of anniversaries, and that reflects in her art. Meaning, maybe it'll reflect in other things too...?!

The game is hosting weekly free 11-pulls which bring back Heavenly Visitor, Wish Voyage, Kiseki, Music in Your Thoughts, and Light Future cards! On top of that, there's a log-in bonus for nanakores and 80 Stellar Stones in total!

The game has been refreshed with a few new features like notifications on screen when you get a message from an idol/manager, more idol storage, and even special voice lines that play before a live, after an auto live finishes, and if you manage to full-combo the song. The "hey, there's an event going on" home screen line has been replaced, too, thank fuck.

A new Namjatown collab has been announced that covers the idol in glowy clothing!

The official website has been completely overhauled including brand-new bios for the idols!

Now, onto the really fun stuff...

Shuffle Units are back!!

As part of the yearly anniversary story, we're finally getting Shuffle Units including Re:vale and ZOOL! As of Producer Letter 26, it's been confirmed that these units will be themed and have special songs for each, but the themes haven't been shared yet! We may have to read the two-part story to find out!

Part 1 will release September 5th, and Part 2 will release September 15th! It won't be voiced, though. Voice acting will come at a later date.

Kuji Memorial Video & Cards!

What's likely the most surprising thing of all for the anniversary is that it's big surprise looks back on all of the dramas IDOLiSH7's cast have starred in over the last seven years - down to releasing an animated memorial video that covers everything from La Danse Macabre to the Last Dimension musical! There's a lot of shots of TRIGGER to spot, so if you haven't seen it yet, go watch it! It's pure emotional eye candy!

On top of that, the yearly revival gacha deals with it, too, featuring special UR cards that focus on specific scenes from Mechanical Lullaby, i7 Police, Hoshimeguri (now known in English as The Stargazer?), Karatoga, La Danse Macabre, Mission (Yamato's movie from Part 3), and BLAST! (Part 5 drama)

The best part is all the old cards, including the same kujis shown here, are in these pulls, too! Best of luck if you try to bring them home!

Producer Letter #26 Takeaways

As is tradition with i7 anniversaries, there's a new Producer Letter that goes over what the current and future plans for the series are that has a few interesting tidbits fans should be aware of! I'll break it down, but if you can, I suggest reading it in your own time.

The team is still figuring out what exactly comes "beyond the period" in terms of the story, so no updates on that just yet.

They're wanting to do another 16 person live, but they're trying to book a "difficult venue" so many fans can see it. Some fans believe this to be a hint that they're trying to book the Tokyo Dome. 😱 But 16 person live isn't an impossibility!

They've implies that they're working out international distribution and screening for the recent movie Beyond the Period! So sit tight if you haven't gotten a hold of it for yourself yet!

ik some of the stuff u read but in general can u list a few manga that u enjoy, and maybe particular aspects as to why? Character archetypes, themes, art style, whatever.

Also any stuff u def dont wantnto be recced (can be genres, plots, whatever).

It'd probably be easier to list what I don't like since I'm p fine with anything,,, I'm not a huge horror person but if it's more. Suspenseful? Like The Summer Hikaru Died then it's fine. I really like hgsn, but more-so for the character relationships than the actual horror elements

I'm also not a hugeee fan of fight manga because fight scenes are confusing. I'm also not a huge fan of delinquent anime, although I've only really seen Tokyo Revengers and Wind Breakers. WB I might give another shot but in manga form bc I've heard the characters are good, but it didn't get to a point where I was gripped in the anime before I stopped watching.

I'm also not a huge romance manga guy. Like I'm fine WITH romance but I don't like romance manga. I'm slightly more lenient w lgbtq romance manga but like. If the romance is the only plot then its kinda ehhh,,, actually now that I think about it if it's queer I'm usually fine w it. I guess it's just the het stuff. Sorry straight ppl

I did like the Nozaki-kun anime but I don't think that should even count as romance. I liked Skip and Loafer too, but more-so for the characters

Um obviously my favorite manga is oofuri. I did have a period where I was the sports anime guy but I'm not actually superrr into sports themselves? But I like character driven stories

Um other manga I like,,, haikyuu, Witch Hat Atelier, Show-ha Shoten!, Natsume Yuujinchou, Mairuma, uhhh. Bokurea no Kiseki which idk if you know but it's like. A political drama reincarnation story with a ton of messy relationships.

Ok really like. Strong character relationships. With a lot of pining and longing. I think. I like tragic friendships and relationships.

I also like large casts which is I think why I like sports anime so much?

Tldr: compelling characters? I guess?

Gintama [ 2 live action + 2 mini drama]

Regola aurea quando guardi questa serie: non porti domande, guarda, ridi e passa oltre...

Terra. In un Giappone a metà tra quello del periodo Edo e quello di oggi, nella città di Edo (ossia Tokyo) gli alieni detti Amanto, hanno attaccato la Terra e dopo una guerra iniziata vent'anni prima della storia principale, hanno costretto lo shogunato ad arrendersi. Dopodiché hanno proibito di portare la katana in pubblico cancellando di fatto la casta dei samurai. Nonostante questo gli alieni hanno portato innovazioni sulla Terra e quindi si è formato un ambiente a metà tra due epoche, dove esistono oggetti moderni come automobili, televisori, internet e addirittura la rivista Shōnen Jump, ma molte costruzioni assomigliano a quelle del periodo Edo.  

La trama si concentra su un eccentrico samurai, Gintoki Sakata, il suo (parziale) apprendista Shinpachi Shimura, e una giovane aliena, Kagura. Tutti e tre sono dei liberi professionisti che cercano lavoro come "tuttofare" per pagare l'affitto mensile, cosa che solitamente non accade.

La trama dell’opera di Gintama - presa da Wikipedia perchè sono mortalmente pigra - è necessaria per avere un ambientazione dove collocare le vicende dei film e dei mini drama. Questi prodotti infatti, risentono tantissimo della ricostruzione scenica....cosa che ho adorato. Non è per nulla facile ricreare una Tokyo a metà tra il periodo Edo e la modernità..ma ci sono riusciti cosi bene che non ho mai percepito questa cosa come folle: tizi con l’acconciatura ed i vestiti tipici dei samurai accanto ad auto che sfrecciano oppure  televisori... #favoloso

L’ambientazione è dunque una parodia - come tante altre cose - in chiave fantascientifica di fatti realmente accaduti, in questo caso gli Amanto, sono le potenze occidentali che forzarono il Giappone ad uscire dal suo periodo isolazionista ed ad aprire le porte al mondo occidentale..ma ci sono tante altre cose. 

Ma non è di questo che parlano di prodotti sopracitati. Ma tuttavia di "questo" c'è bisogno di sapere perché altrimenti quello che viene raccontato dei film e nei mini drama può non essere chiarissimo.

I prodotti che ho visto infatti, fanno un velocissimo recap e poi ti butta la storia, i personaggi e le relazioni tra essi e se hai capito - o hai letto il manga o visto l'anime - bene... altrimenti cavoli tuoi! Questo non implica che se non hai mai sentito parlare di Gintama non te lo devi vedere: io mi sono vista solo una decina di episodi dell’anime anni fa e mi sono trovata benissimo! Magari può essere un pò destabilizzante all’inizio, ma poi tutto torna. 

Ho visto tutta la saga molto volentieri. Mi sono divertita tantissimo anche solo nei combattimenti - che sono bellissimi - e nel ricercare tutti i rimandi ad altre opere: One Piece, Galaxy 999, il mio vicino Totoro, Evangelion, Nausicaa della Valle del Vento...con un inserimento azzeccato e mai fuori posto. Oltre alle parodie si segnala anche la rottura della quarta parete ed un umorismo a volte sporco. XD 

Mi sono piaciuti anche tutti i personaggi, ben caratterizzati - ma questo proviene da manga - ed anche approfonditi. cosa che non mi aspettavo. Io continuo a vedermi serie dove mi promettono solo botte da orbi e poi... introspezioni e approfondimenti psicologici a stecca! #high&Low

C’ è anche da dire che il cast è stellare: se infatti sapevo della presenza di Oguri Shun - fulgida stella - non sapevo che fosse presente anche Miura Haruma, che ha interpretato il suo personaggio così bene che quasi sovrasta il protagonista. Oltre a loro, attori da Gokusen ed High and Low hanno prestato la loro presenza alla serie. Infine, quello che è stato per me la vera sorpresa: Masaki Suda. Lo avevo visto da poco nel film Kiseki e ritrovarmelo qui nella vesti di Shinpachi è stato un colpo al cuore perchè non lo avevo riconosciuto per la sua bravura nel interpretare personaggi cosi diversi. 

Ma se il trio protagonista è centrale alla storia, il mio cuore è stato regalato ai membri della Shinsengumi, ossia la polizia di questa serie. In questa organizzazione non c’è ne uno sano di mente: sadici, tabagisti, stalker, maniaci della maionese... un branco di “cretini” apocalittici ma che io ho amato alla follia. 

Ovviamente oltre alla risate, vengono affrontate varie tematiche grazie all’introspezione psicologica dei personaggi. Si parla di famiglia, dovere, vendetta e giustizia. Vengono tirate in ballo questioni interessanti e coinvolgenti ed è difficile definire chi ha ragione e che ha torto.

È il primo film e c'è subito da dire che il personaggio principale è interpretato da Oguri Shun che si deve essere divertito come un matto a girare questa saga. 😂C’è proprio una scena dove lui e gli altri due protagonisti trattengono a stento le risate 

Il suo personaggio è il classico protagonista da anime - solo più cazzone - , quello che sembra uno scemo come pochi, ma che in realtà è denso di saggezza e coraggio. E fortissimo. ovviamente 

Questo film ed anche il secondo, portano in scena archi narrativi del manga, in questo caso quella della Beninzakura: il trio deve ritrovare una spada rubata ad un fabbro mentre un assassino spietato miete vittime in città.#dettabrevissima Ovviamente non è così semplice come appare e presto la situazione diventerà sempre più complessa e profonda. 

Film tutto sommato carino, pieno di risate e combattimenti molto ben coreografati. Ovviamente le cose assurde si sprecano ma alla fine risulterà la norma.

I due mini drama

Questi due mini drama si possono vedere sia prima che dopo i film, ma onestamente credo che a differenza dei film, questi siano da vedere se sai a grandi linee la storia di Gintama. 

Il primo mini drama si concentra su episodi autoconclusivi, divertenti e parodistici. Uno di loro parte come storia drammatica - stavo piangendo - per poi virare all’improvviso nell’horror. Mi sono spaventata a morte e poi ho riso 10 minuti. #mitici

In un altro si affronta un terrore a cui molti di noi sono costretti, ed un altro ho empatizzato a bestia perchè nel tema della puntata mi ci sono ritrovata tantissimo.

Inoltre tra i protagonisti di questi mini drama non c’è solo il trio ma anche altri personaggi, cosa che ho apprezzato tantissimo perchè così è possibile conoscerli meglio. 

Il secondo minidrama invece ha come protagonista i membri della Shinsengumi: Non ci sono parole per dire quanto ho apprezzato questo approfondimento. Okita e  Hijikata sono i miei due personaggi preferiti - insieme a Kagura, la protagonista femminile - e vedere qualcosa che li riguardi, mi ha riempito di gioia. Il minidrama anche se divertente, non nasconde perle di tristezza e situazioni mi emotive: in questo caso si parla della sorella di Okita venuta in visita al fratello. Il suo arrivo in città porterà conseguenze, ricordi e emozioni a lungo sopite. 

Gintama Live Action 2

Questo è stato il mio preferito: oltre alla presenza di Miura, il grande protagonista è la Shinsengumi, cosa che non può non farmi piacere. <3 

Il vicecapitano  Hijikata si trova in difficoltà dopo l’arrivo nella stazione di polizia, del Sensei ,anche se a la metà degli anni di Hijikata ma va beh  uomo scaltro e intelligente, deciso a dare una scossa alla polizia. 

  Hijikata qui è il grande protagonista, ma la storia che si sviluppa - l’arco narrativo del manga qui rappresentato è proprio quello della Shinsengumi - riguarda i rapporti personali tra i personaggi: amicizie, fedeltà, rancori... 

Ovviamente le scene demenziali si sprecano ed è difficile trattenere le risate. Anche qui combattimenti bellissimi di cui uno ho dovuto giffarlo, perchè mi ha gasato tantissimo. 

Conclusione: Se volete vedere qualcosa di leggero, divertente, poco impegnativo ma con una trama avvincente, lo consiglio vivamente. Il cast fa un lavoro encomiabile nel passare da cretini senza speranza a persone serie nel giro di attimi. io avrei riso per ore.

NOTE SPARSE:

- Il primo capitano della Shinsengumi, Okita, che da bravo sadico quale è, per addormentarsi non conta le pecorelle...ma in quanti modi può uccidere il suo superiore. Anzichè premere per una promozione cerca di togliere di mezzo il suo capitano... #idolo

- il rapporto che lega Okita a  Hijikata - il suo superiore appunto - mi piace tantissimo: Okita lo vuole morto. Hijikata lo ignora. Ma in realtà questi due personaggi così diversi hanno tantissime cose in comune, primo fra tutte...la fedeltà e l’affetto verso il loro Capo. 

- L’episodio di  Hijikata che lo vede in piena crisi di astinenza da nicotina quando su tutto il pianeta viene istituito il divieto di fumo. Pur di fumarsi una sigaretta va nello spazio e si ritrova coinvolto nella versione Eurospin di Dragon Ball. #morta 

- Il mini episodio del cane. Mio dio che infarto! era partito come una storia drammatica e straziante, con questo cane abbandonato che rimane fedele alla sua padrona che dopo anni lo va a cercare e scopre che il cagnolino non si è mai mosso dal posto in cui lei lo ha abbandonato. Stavo piangendo cosi tanto...e poi HORROR MOVIE!!!! 

- Ho adorato il personaggio di Kagura. Questa eroina fortissima non perchè donna ma perchè appartente ad una razza aliena famosa per la superforza...niente femminismo infilato a forza qui. Grazie Gintama.

My story abt being dumb my first time on an anime site:

The first piece of foreign media I watched with subtitles was Pretty Cure All Stars: Mirai no Tomodachi 1. Tokyo MewMew, first few eps of BlackButler, Akagami no Shirayuki-hime were watched in german/english dubs on YT, in low definition, only becuz I didn't know about any other video platform other than YT. So, before I watched all of Kuroshuji & Futari wa Pretty Cure on 9anime, I was too star-struck to use the search-bar to search for the all Pretty Cure seasons that I oh so desperately wanted to have access to. So, just with the "You might also like"-field, under MiraiTomo 1, I opened tabs for Mirai no Tomodachi 2, DX 3, 2 & 1 ( and maybe also the Smile movie). And consumed these 5(or6?) movies in about 3 days, record time. In reversed order. Whether I watched Minna de Utau - Kiseki no Mahou on YT before that or on 9anime in the same session is a mystery to me.

The biggest mystery is how many times I watched Mirai no tomodachi 1 & Minna de utau to present day. I don't remember watching them together with Smile & Mahostukai, but I'm not sure. I've watched their scenes so many times before the whole movies, I don't know anymore. But, now I do remember watching them once before knowing their casts better & once after. So, I'm settling with: I watched both twice. I watched the Smile movie twice too, the first time on my birthday, away from home. I still have a hair accessory I bought on that day.

All stars movies really are so over the top satisfying. They're what connects all the seasons with each other & makes the Pretty Cure Brand so much better & complete. This is peak-Precure-experience.

Tokyo Ghoul:re - Well, i watched the previous season so I’ll continue.

Piano no Mori - “A tranquil tale about two boys from very different upbringings”. SAY NO MORE. I’M IN. 

Rokuhoudou Yotsuiro Biyori - a Slice of Life anime, which means it’s probably going to be nice and calming. Looking cute from the trailer, and the seiyuus are great. It’s a Yes from me.

Saredo Tsumibito wa Ryuu to Odoru - Ngl, the poster has the two main characters (who are really pretty) and I like it so I’ll try watching that one lol 

Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi - I like the seiyuus and the characters are nice looking but I fear this one is going to be romantic in some way. So I’ll watch the first episode and then decide... (it’s not labeled as ‘Romance’ on Myanimelist but judging from the teaser + synopsis ...??)

Omae wa Mada Gunma wo Shiranai - Don’t have much to base my decisions on, but I’ll try this one, might be good. 

Butlers: Chitose Momotose Monogatari - It’s probably going to be Otome-related, right? (even though, again, there’s no ‘Romance’ in sight on Myanimelist). But the seiyuu cast is amazing and the characters are gorgeous (and I’ll probably be shipping the hell out of all of them lol). I’ll try it and then decide ^^; 

Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii - this one is very clearly Romance. But Itou Kento is the main character, and the girl is a Fujoshi. I must try a few episodes and then decide if it’s for my liking or not...

Captain Tsubasa (2018) - Not sure about this one. I'm not a big fan of the art style, but so many of my favorite seiyuus are there... so we’ll see (I haven’t watched the original).

Hinamatsuri - Only because Yoshiki is the main character and I’m happy. I hope I’ll enjoy this one (too many girls for my liking...we’ll see).

Aikatsu Planet! OP Movie Introduces Its Idols in Live-action & Anime Hybrid World

    Two months ahead of its premiere in Japan, the official website for Aikatsu Planet!, the upcoming new installment in the idol-themed Aikatsu! franchise, has posted a key visual and its 90-second OP movie introducing its main cast members both in the live-action and anime worlds.

  The eight-year-old franchise's first live-action and animation hybrid TV show is set to premiere on TV Tokyo and its affiliate stations in Japan on January 10, 2021.

Nijiiro Days Gets Live-action Film, Premieres in Summer 2018

An official website and Twitter account for the live-action film based on Minami Mizuno's Rainbow Days (Nijiiro Days) manga opened on Tuesday. The film is slated to premiere in Japan in summer 2018. 

Ken Iizuka (live-action Arakawa Under the Bridge) is directing the film and Rika Nezu (Saint Young Men) is writing the screenplay. Filming will take place from mid-October to November.
