2020 Seguí aprendiendo, seguí cometiendo errores hasta que un día (no se cuando, creo que fue algo gradual, algunas veces abrupto), me cuestioné todo y poco a poco empecé a sacar a la Cristela real: me costó años. Aún cuesta. Ningún libro de autoayuda me parece ni me sustenta: Tuve que sumergirme en mi misma, meterme en el océano de mis miserias e indagar, no para hallar explicaciones sino el por qué yo me sentía como me sentía. Hoy me dije que me abrazaré más que nunca aún cuando tenga emociones fuertes, aún cuando esté en mi peor fase porque sé que si me abrazo, seré más consciente de que yo soy la responsable de mi, yo cuidaré de mi, yo me trataré bien a pesar de todo, me conoceré más a fondo día a día. A todas aquellas personas que ya no están en mi vida, las amo y las agradezco por lo que enseñaron. Las que aún siguen en mi vida, bienvenidas y si deben irse: Háganlo, así sienta dolor, no las detendré. Por favor no se queden donde ya no quieren estar. Sean libres. Foto actual. Y si, como de todo pero llegando al equilibrio. ¿Cómo lo logré? Con MUCHÍSIMO DOLOR. Los procesos duelen, duelen al punto de ya no querer sentirlo pero ¿Para que estar anestesiados? MIXED COMPANY, no. 6. ABBA, Arrival. You know what I never do? Think about going deeper than ABBA’s hits. I never imagine what the other songs on the not-greatest-hits albums are. So this “subgroup/minitheme” of mixed men and women groups inspired me to pull out one of my wife’s old discs and by gosh, it’s a good time. They reeeeeally lay on the synths and keyboards. And backing vocals. Just as you’d expect. It’s all catchy but they threw in a couple slow songs and honestly it was a relief when one of the hits popped up. Especially love to hear those melancholy Dancing Queen chord changes when “you can dance, you can jive,” then those backing triplets (rhythmical term not related children) that go with “have! ing! the! time! of! your! life...” then the triplets keep going musically into the big hook. Here they move beyond bubblegum Europap discopop and flex the now muscular songwriting talents of Benny and Bjorn. It’s the first album of theirs that sounds like an album rather than a hotchpotch collection of singles and throwaway ditties. It also contains one of the best, if not the most perfect pop song ever: When I Kissed The Teacher. (No, not really: Dancing Queen!) Pure utter pop confectionary perfection in under 4 minutes.
