Matthew 8:5–11 When Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion approached him and appealed to him, saying, “Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, suffering dreadfully.” He said to him, “I will come and cure him.” The centurion said in reply, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof; only say the word and my servant will be healed. For I too am a man subject to authority, with soldiers subject to me. I say to you, many will come from the east and the west, and will recline with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob at the banquet in the Kingdom of heaven.” In today's Gospel, a Roman centurion approaches Jesus and tells him that his servant is lying at home paralyzed and suffering terribly. He admits that he is not worthy to have Jesus enter his home, but he believes that if Jesus simply says the word, his servant will be healed. To an outsider, this request may seem impossible, as the centurion is asking for a remote healing with just a word. However, the centurion has faith and trusts that Jesus can perform this miracle. Søren Kierkegaard once defined faith as "a passion for the impossible." This does not mean that God is opposed to reason or that he wants us to be unrealistic. Rather, he wants us to use our powers of imagination and analysis while also having faith in what reason cannot see. The centurion's faith was so strong that Jesus praised him, saying, "I have not found such faith in anyone in Israel."

What is the relationship between KCIII and his son William, The Prince of Wales? 

10 of Cups, Page of Wands, Ace of Cups.

This is generally a nice spread (I am so glad). The 10 of C is one of the best family cards. Parents, kids, rainbow everything you need. This shows me they have a nice relationship and function as an ordinary family behind the scenes when they are not king and prince but grandfather, father, and son. The Page of W is interesting because one way to think about the court cards as royalty. And Pages are at the bottom of this, they are the young apprentice, the messengers, his job to serve the family. He often has to do tasks he doesn’t like to learn his future role (being a Knight). He is not fully prepared yet. This card suggests to me that KCIII in fact sees his son like this. Someone who has amazing potential ( wands are fire, personal power, masculinity, being a hero etc) but he is not there yet. He needs to level up his game. On the Ace of Cups card, there is a hand holding a chalice, the water overflows, and there is a white dove. All of these very regal, sacred images, some people think this is the Holy Grail itself. And because of that I strongly think about the act of the coronation. Well, I have no idea exactly what will happen and what William’s tasks will be but this is an offering. Maybe William will have some special role in the coronation (besides what we already know) but this is also KCIII as a king offering his love, his support to his “not there yet” son. He is very aware he will pass on this sacred role to his son one day.

What is the relationship between KCIII and his son Harry, The Duke of Sussex? 

5 of wands rx, Death rx

The difference is significant.

KCIII is definitely tired of all of this. The fights, the arguments. He doesn’t want to get involved publicly, he knows his public image has already suffered. With the Death rx he knows it is over but he refuses to acknowledge it. He is stuck and he hesitates to make decisions he should. It’s the state of apathy, unhappiness, and with the 5ofW rx refusing to take action. Since they are kin, blood relatives, leaving Harry completely behind never gonna happen and this is one reason to feel stuck. It also could mean Harry is so deeply locked down in his own world that no amount of “fight” can reach him. 

What plans does KCIII have with William? 

2 of Swords rx, Knight of Cups

I won't lie I had a hard time interpreting this, so I will rely on my intuition. 

Starting with the KofC: when I saw that I almost felt this is some kind of combination of the Page of Wands and the Ace of cups. As those two have merged together and from a Page evolved to a grail knight. Level up, upgrade, going higher on the ladder. 

Since the KofC could mean agreement 2 ofSw rx could mean KCIII  won’t make compromises. So above we saw that KC wants to help his heir but here I feel he wants to do this in his own way. He has one specific idea and this needs to get through. No place to negotiate. Being tough since the 2 of Sw rx means that because of the crossed arms in front of the chest, the love cannot flow. So even he loves William (10ofC)  as his heir he will practice tough love, and “force” him to evolve from page to knight to king eventually. 

What plans does KCIII have with Harry?

The Tower rx, 5 of cups rx, Queen of Cups rx.

Every single card I pulled for Harry is reversed. 

I think KC expects Hsrry’s emotions to be out of control so he wants to support him if it’s needed. He wants to give a chance for reconciliation.( as we saw above he is stuck with the Death rx)  On the 5 of C card, there are 3 cups spilt and 2 are standing. I can not think about that. KC has 2 sons and I think in a way he wants to see them standing beside each other (potentially at the coronation?) The Tower rx here for me means that this only can happen if Harry had escaped from his “prison”. I don’t really see that KC is actively trying to “imprison” him because the cards are not really active. He definitely sees H as destructive and intended to give him a kick in the but he doesn’t want to cut ties and definitely wants to reconcile if it’s possible. But considering that all of Harry’s cards are reversals… I think this possibility is blocked at the moment. He is too depressed to see or understand how to make things better with his dad and his family.

An object lesson in why opt-in is important in e-mail marketing (featuring the Knights of Columbus)

I have had problems for over a decade with the Knights of Columbus repeatedly attempting to sell me their insurance (and fund their anti-abortion and theocratic mission) after repeated requests to remove me from contact lists that I never requested to be on. Stress on the word "repeatedly" and "never requested." While I was (very, very) briefly a member, I realized extremely quickly that despite its origins, the KofC is far more interested in working against abortion access (as opposed to wanting to reduce the number of abortions). I had my membership terminated shortly thereafter. And yet I keep getting added to email lists from their agents without any action on my part. Let's call it "zero-opt-in." And that, my friends, is absolutely horrific marketing, existing on the same ethical level as all other email spam. So if you ever feel tempted to add someone to an email list (or social media group) without getting at least single opt-in, I want you to remember my reaction here, and to reconsider your actions. (Also, I'm kind of hoping that posting this publicly will finally result in the KofC never contacting me again, which is what I wanted twelve years ago). Dear Knights of Columbus agent Peter C. Holm, Thank you for your unsolicited commercial e-mail and your unsolicited addition of me to your mailing list. I say that sarcastically. I do not know where you obtained my contact information as being appropriate to add to this list; my membership was officially terminated by Supreme in 2011. I have repeatedly told agents -- including Pat Flynn in 2011 and Jason C. Staas in 2014 -- to not contact me, to remove my name and contact information from any maintained lists of contacts, and to add me to any do-not-contact lists that the Knights of Columbus might maintain. I almost immediately left the KofC after joining -- despite its laudable initial goals of caring for others -- because it only took two meetings to make it obvious that the Knights of Columbus is a far-right anti-abortion group actively working towards a more theocratic state. That trend has, sadly, continued in the decade since, as retired priest Father Peter Daly documented in the National Catholic Reporter in 2020. The actions of the Knights of Columbus -- including their part in injecting God into the political sphere (counter to Matthew 22:20-22) from the 1950's onward -- are no small part of what drove me from Catholicism. Your actions -- and the nauseatingly holier-than-thou attitude of some of your websites (go read Matthew 6:5 again and really think about how you're coming across) -- have just served to remind me why I made that decision long ago. However, aside from any political or religious disagreement that I may have with the Knights of Columbus (and I have plenty), I have -- without exception -- had KofC agents repeatedly add me to their email lists without my consent. Although this decade-old article from MailChimp -- who, you'd think, would know something about the effectiveness of email marketing -- discusses the benefits of using double-opt-in instead of single-opt-in for one's email list, it does not bother to even mention the effectiveness of zero opt-in. You know why? Because you get reactions like this one. Therefore, I have made a donation in YOUR name, Peter C. Holm of New Carlisle, to the ACLU and Planned Parenthood. I will make an additional donation to these groups -- again, in your name -- with every email I get from you that is not solely noting that I have been removed from your mailing list and have been added to any "do not contact" lists that the KofC maintains.
