32 killed, 147 injured in blast at mosque in Peshawar Police Lines Area

A blast inside a mosque shook Peshawar’s Police Lines area on Monday, with officials saying that at least 32 people were killed and 147 were injured.

The outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the blast.

[Peshawar Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Muhammad Ijaz] Khan said between 300 to 400 police personnel were present in the area at the time of the blast.

Peshawar lies on the historic Grand Trunk Road that connects the city to Islamabad, 184 km to the East, and Lahore and also provides access to the Afghan border via the Khyber Pass, with onward connections to Kabul, which lies 284 km to the West. Yesterday, it was reported that 10 children had died in a mass drowning when their boat capsized on a lake near Kohat, approximately 70 km due south of Peshawar.

Balochistan is the epicenter of the $64 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, a road and infrastructure development plan, which aims to ultimately provide the shortest route for Chinese cargo headed for the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia.

Major roads are slated for construction under the CPEC, including the road from Balochistan’s Khuzdar district to the Chinese-funded, deep-water port of Gwadar. But for now, the absence of dual carriageways, inadequate training of drivers, and a lack of highway patrols mean thousands continue to die on these roads each year.

Koutoujian and Sarah Kyzer??

Thanks for the ask!

I can’t imagine them getting along for long, even if they’re on the same side.

In some AU where Sarah was recruited to work for the Interrogation Unit on Ganymede rather than being sent to the labs, she’d attach herself to Koutoujian in much the same way as she does Usalmy in the actual story, for purposes of gaining access to victims. Unlike Usalmy, though, Koutoujian would realize that Sarah is dangerous and has no loyalty to anyone, and find Sarah a challenge to her authority. Her mistake, though, would be making the first move and trying to get Sarah kicked out. Sarah would’ve been perfectly content to act officially as a member of Koutoujian’s posse as an outlet for her sadism, but if Koutoujian turned on her, it would be war.

Sarah would also be an increasing pain in Koutoujian’s ass as a prisoner, like a much worse version of Lenavee. Sarah has a couple of major advantages, though, namely that A) she has no one who Koutoujian can weaponize against her, and B) she’s spent years in the labs, facing abuse that is arguably much worse. The only way I see Koutoujian coming out on top here is if she’s smart enough to lock Sarah up in one of the tiny solitary confinement boxes and throw away the key or send her back to the labs and be done with it. Unfortunately for her, she’s too proud and competitive for this… and Sarah would figure this out sooner rather than later, so that threats would be ineffective.

At first, Sarah would seem like a model prisoner… up until Koutoujian realized that Sarah was fucking with her, or using her to fuck with others, by feeding her false information. Koutoujian violently retaliates, and Sarah pretends to break under the torture, all the while planning her next move.

When Sarah strikes back in either version, it’s going to involve some combination of turning her posse against her/each other; baiting Koutoujian into overstepping with verbal jabs about her half-genmod status; blackmailing her with dirt she digs up about outright illegal things Koutoujian has done that could get her sent to the labs; and framing her in a way that her superiors would easily believe was real.

TL;DR: Koutoujian would find Sarah incredibly frustrating; Sarah would see her as a fun toy; and Sarah, as the more calculating and less reactive of the two, would probably win out when she got bored of fucking with Koutoujian.
