Part of the problem with the KOTFE/KOTET expansions in SWTOR is that people were pissed about moving away from "republic vs empire/jedi vs sith" and complained about stuff related to these expansions (which were and are rather controversial - this is the conclusive reinforcement that the individual class storyline is dead, though that had been true since Shadows of Revan, and gameplay changed quite a bit as well) which caused the execs and devs to scrap their idea of having three chapters for these expansions and cutting the second one short, which resulted in a much more compressed storyline and less development. A lot of the stuff that seemed to be ignored or pushed aside *did* come back in later expansions and storylines, with some things resolved/addressed, but this was also not handled the best and eventually there's a big deus ex machina plot decision which sort of resets things back to "republic vs empire/jedi vs sith".
