weird question

are all of the reddit audiophiles right that koss headphones are good? or am I being pranked

like, they all look like something I'd pick up for $5 circa 2004, but the reviews are all "this is the best thing I've ever heard, second only to my $600 professional headphones" blah blah blah

so are they...good? or am I being hazed somehow

really bummed out all my decent portable headphones are broken and the sorry little earbuds I've had to resort to using are looking like they're about to give up the ghost. I found my project headphones box because I thought I had a working pair of ksc75s in there, but no luck. atm, I have a pair of ksc75s that need to be reterminated (I have a pair of old Sony monitors with an aftermarket plug I might pull and reuse). they need new pads too. I have some ksc35s that need the left ear resoldered. and maybe a recable because the plastic has gotten... sweaty. I have a pair of kph30i with a broken arm (do not buy these. they sound good but have atrocious build quality. I've had two pairs now and neither made it a full year). and my fucking Bluetooth speaker is dead and won't charge. gonna try replacing the micro USB socket when I can get my hands on one...

just venting. this shit has put me in a bad mood

please can you recommend some affordable but good quality headphones? TIA!

Depends on your definition of affordable! Default recommendations:

Headphones: Koss KSC75 if you don't mind looking like a dork, sennheiser 6xx otherwise. Closed back you can try the AKG k361/371

IEMs: truthear zero/zero red, moondrop chu if you listen to a lot of music with higher pitched vocals, truthear Hola otherwise

You may read that the 6xx needs an amplifier. It doesn't. Just use whatever adapter works for you and get an amp if you feel like getting really granular about stuff
