Trecentoventuno Patria 6x6 ordinati dalla Svezia Försvarets materielverk (FMV), l’Agenzia per gli appalti del Ministero della Difesa svedese, ha sottoscritto un contratto per l’acquisto di 321 veicoli blindati 6×6 dalla società internazionale di difesa e tecnologia Patria. Il contratto ha un valore di circa 470 milioni di euro ed è uno dei più grandi mai realizzati in Svezia da Patria. Le consegne continueranno fino al 2030. I 321 veicoli, che in Svezia sono denominati Pansarterrängbil 300, saranno di stanza presso il Reggimento Livgardet a Kungsängen ed in diverse altre unità in tutto il Paese. Patria ha precedentemente consegnato 20 veicoli 6×6 ordinati in un contratto separato firmato nell’aprile

Sweden Purchases 321 Patria 6×6 Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS)

The Swedish Defence Procurement Agency (FMV) has signed a contract to buy 321 six-wheeled armoured vehicles from the international defence and technology company Patria. The contract has a value of around 470 million euros and is one of the largest ever in Sweden for Patria. The 321 vehicles, which in Sweden are called Pansarterrängbil 300, will be stationed at Livgardet regiment in Kungsängen and several other units around the country. Patria has previously delivered 20 6x6 vehicles which were ordered in a separate contract signed in April 2023. Patria 6x6 vehicle was chosen as the platform for a unique Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) collaboration programme between several European countries, participated already by Finland, Latvia, Sweden and Germany. Finland purchased additional 40 6x6 vehicles in January 2024, which brings the total number of the Finnish purchase to 131. Sweden joined the 6x6 research and development programme in 2022.

Back in Sweden for the holidays and having watched a fair bit of tv again after six months abroad only using a computer, I must say that some of the advertisements bring me sooo much joy. Like, yes many were good before as well but having been away I still notice the still increasing equality and representation.

A few samples that have increased, or rather the naturalness of their role has increased, in no particular order:

The racial diversity. Need I explain further?

The lesbian couple in an ad about beds?!?!! They are soo adorable and the ad is not about them in any way. Just one of the couples (and singles) featured. (Kungsängen you made jump in my seat when I realised they were gay)

Not to mention Ica’s (supermarket chain) New Years ad. Jerry is the absolute best and has always been. Yes I know. He’s not knew but my autistic self just finds him soo relatable in this one. (Since I assume none of y’all know what I’m talking about - the ads feature “workers” in an Ica store doing random fun and stupid stuff). Anyways - Jerry (and actor Mats Melin) has Down’s syndrome and has been a recurring character since 2009. The group sits down on New Years Eve eating fancy food, talking about how perfect it is and how fresh and luxurious and healthy it feels and so on, finishing with how perfectly full they feel. Jerry observes. The calendar jumps to 1/1 - 23. Everybody stuffs their face with pizza, gushing about how greasy and great it is, and how they’re completely stuffed after and happy about it. And Jerry. My sweet relatable Jerry. Just shakes his head at them and the face he makes is just perfection like yes that it the exact feeling I get when people change their minds constantly and my poor I-take-everything-literally-brain cannot keep up.

The point of this? No idea. Surprised that you’re still here. But I suppose that this is a yay subtle representation is important and Sweden my friend I’m quite proud of you for those ads.

(Disclaimer!: I’ve been home for a week and have been sleeping for most of due to one hell of a cold courtesy of my cousin (thankfully not Lady Rona) so I have not seen nearly enough ads to know exactly how common they are and I sure as fuck don’t remember how common it was before I moved. This is just me being hyper and going for a rant during an energy burst).

Swedish Army Receives First Batch of New Patria 6x6 Wheeled Armored Vehicles

The Swedish Army has officially received the first batch of new Patria's 6x6 wheeled armoured vehicles, in Sweden called Pansarterrängbil 300. The vehicles, which were manufactured in Finland, will be part of the current expansion of Swedish Armed Forces. These Patria 6x6 armoured vehicles will be based at Livgardet regiment in Kungsängen, near Stockholm and further south in Sweden. An official hand-over ceremony marking the delivery took place at Ground Combat School in Kvarn on 26 October, 2023. Patria’s 6x6 solution is already in use in Finland and Latvia, and Germany has joined the Patria 6x6 -based Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) programme. In early 2020 Finland and Latvia agreed a joint development programme for Common Armoured Vehicle Systems (CAVS) based on Patria 6x6. The programme remains open for other nations to join it. As a result of CAVS Programme, Latvia announced an order for over 200 vehicles. It is planned that from 2023 Patria 6x6 for needs of Latvian army will be fully produced in Cēsis, Latvia with partial production starting in 2022. First vehicles were delivered in October 2021. Finland followed with a letter of intent to procure 160 vehicles in 2023. The FDF signed an agreement with Patria to acquire three pre-series vehicles delivered by summer 2022 for test use before the final serial order.
